If you’re considering staying at a women-only hotel this is the place to look.
Making the Choice
An increasing number of women who travel by themselves or with other women are choosing to stay at women-only hotels or on women-only hotel floors. Since all women are different they have many different reasons for doing so, and the hotels do their best to satisfy these.
Security and Privacy
Although most women don’t feel particularly insecure in the better traditional hotels, some clearly feel somewhat more secure in women-only accommodations. The hotels stress this subtly by having all-female staff, and those with female-only floors by providing key-card-controlled access. The women-only Luthan Hotel & Spa in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia advertises that it provides round-the-clock security protection. There’s also the advantage of being able to get your newspaper from the corridor in your dressing gown without one of your male business associates seeing you.
One particularly attractive aspect of women-only hotels for their guests is that they’re able to provide a more comfortably feminine ambience than other hotels. Their décors and colour schemes don’t have to appeal at all to masculine tastes. The women-only Artemisia Hotel in Berlin, for example, is proud of its women-centred atmosphere, which includes paintings by female artists.
The Little Things
Most women-only hotels provide thoughtful details. These include better lighting for applying make-up, hair dryers, bath salts, and oversized bathtubs. The five-star Grange City Hotel in London provides its guests with designer toiletries, and the Luthan Hotel & Spa’s rooms come with fluffy dressing gowns and special dressing tables.
Spas are perfect amenities for women-only environments. The Luthan Hotel and Spa has centred its entire offering on its spa facilities, which include a meditation room, six types of pools, a herbal sauna, a relaxation room, a fully equipped fitness centre, and state-of-the-art cosmetic services. Grange City Hotel also has a full-service spa that offers massages, facials, beauty services, manicures, and pedicures. The Lady’s First design hotel in Zürich has a feminine-ambience spa that offers sauna, massage, and cosmetic treatments and provides fluffy dressing gowns, slippers, and fruit tea.
