We are very happy to announce that Venere.com, one of Europe’s leading online hotel reservation services and market leader in Italy, has acquired Worldby.com, another big player in the online hotel bookings landscape.

Since the private equity firm Advent International acquired a 60% controlling stake in Venere.com in November 2006, the company’s hotel reservations customer base has almost doubled to 2.5 million registered international users. Venere.com currently works with 20,000 both independent and chain-owned accommodation properties worldwide, offering users a wide diversity of hotels, bed and breakfasts, serviced and self catering apartments, farm houses, guest houses and other vacation rentals with instantly confirmed online reservations. Venere.com’s unique customer feedback system has generated an excess of 415,000 hotel reviews (and counting) to help travelers choose the accommodation that best fits their needs in its thousands of international travel destinations, including Rome, Paris, London and New York.

With the acquisition of Worldby.com, 6,000 hotels, b&bs, villas, castles, boat houses and chalets will be added to the group’s online accommodation base. It is expected that in 2008 the venere.com - worldby.com group will generate gross bookings of over 500 million Euro. Both companies will integrate important technology and commercial synergies.
Worldby.com will retain its current management team and continues to offer its signature simple structure and high degree of personalization for users seeking lodging in such destinations as Spain, France, Scotland, Ireland and many more international top destinations.
