Tips on Visiting Wineries in Tuscany

There is little doubt that Tuscany is one of the most beautiful regions of Italy, and no trip to the region is complete without visiting the Tuscan wineries.

Visiting the Tuscan wineries is a fascinating and fun activity for all the family, and a great way to discover more about wine. There are several larger wineries in Tuscany that open everyday to the public. The wine estates of Banfi and Avignonesi are the most well known. These large wine estates are close to the beautiful hill-town of Montepulciano. If this is your first visit to Tuscany then these wine estates are probably the best places to visit as Montepulciano is an ideal placed to be based, and is a truly magnificent town. Also, the smaller wineries do not have the staff to handle visitors and only exist as part of a wine making family business.

Both Banfi and Avignonesia are set amid the stunning Tuscan countryside and the grape growing areas are gorgeous. Both of these wineries offer various wine tasting opportunities that features the famous wines from the region. There are also daily tours where visitors can discover more about the wine making process. The Banfi estate has an excellent restaurant that serves delicious Italian food together with the estates wines. The wines made in the Montepulciano area are considered to be among the best in the world. The wines that should defiantly be tasted include the celebrated Vino Nobile di Montalcino wine. Other delicious wines include, Vin Santo di Pernice and Rosso di Montepulciano.

The hill town of Montepulciano has many fantastic attractions for visitors. There is historical architecture with beautiful palaces and medieval wine cellars. The town’s also has a wide range of excellent restaurants and hotels. One of the best hotels in the town is Hotel Albergo Il Rondò. This hotel is situated among olive groves and vineyards on the edge of the town, so there are beautiful views of the surrounding Tuscan countryside to enjoy, as well as the hill town itself. The hotel is actually a villa with a large garden, bar area, and beautifully decorated rooms with all of the necessary amenities required for a comfortable stay.
