When you have kids just jumping on a plane and expecting the rest of a holiday to take care of itself is not really an option.

Here is a short guide of what to do with the little tykes in Tenerife.
1. Going to the beach in Tenerife
I shall start with the most obvious, the beach. The combination of sun, sea and sand is exactly what made Tenerife become one of the world’s best tourist destinations and it will appeal to adults and children alike. What’s more, most of the main beaches of Tenerife have useful kids clubs where they will be looked after and make friends while their parents take the chance to relax.
2. A visit to Loro Parque
Most people find that the beach is not enough to sustain an entire holiday and so eventually look for something else. Loro Parque is often top of this list. Loro is a park in the wildlife sense rather than the theme sense and contains a wide selection of land and water based animals. The dolphins, whales, tigers and chimpanzees seem to be the most popular animals with the alligators providing grim fascination for some and a reason to scream and run away for the rest.
3. A day at Siam Park Water Kingdom
Those who prefer their water alligator free and flowing rapidly down enormous flumes will pay a visit to the Siam Park Water Kingdom. This is an enormous collection of water based fun, primarily based on water slides but with pools and ring rides and the usual collection of ice cream huts and places to lounge in the sun. It claims to be the best such park in Europe which is entirely subjective but definitely possible. It is a certain way to exhaust your children but remember to bring lots of water proof sun screen.
4. Botanical Gardens, Puerto de la Cruz
In addition to the adrenalin pounding thrills of the aqua park there are more peaceful activities to indulge in. The Botanical Gardens in Puerto de la Cruz are a must for anyone with an interest in horticulture or botany but are interesting to explore for everyone else. Sandwiched between two more action-packed days an afternoon spent relaxing in the gardens and eating ice cream can be a welcome diversion.
5. An excursion to Mount Teide
Bickering families should be able to agree on taking a trip up Mount Teide. The stunning views and breathtaking panoramas will please those in touch with nature and their poetic side while the cable-car journey will satisfy any James Bond fantasies harboured among the rest. As a point of interest, Mount Teide is Spain’s highest peak and is the top of an ancient volcano that formed the island of Tenerife. There is no information available as yet about it containing the lairs of any villains, but anything is possible.
