Viticulture has a very long history in South Africa stretching back to the 1600’s and the first Dutch settlers. The industry as it exists today is very young however, stretching back only to the early 1990’s and a wave of investment and energy that came following the collapse of the apartheid regime in the country. Nowadays South African wine has markets all over the world and the country is increasingly popular as a destination where wine connoisseurs can combine their passion with a trip through a beautiful and fascinating country.
