Cultural Olympiad and London 2012 Olympic Arts Festival Director Ruth Mackenzie has already stated that she felt this years festival will most likely be the largest single cultural event and performance of many people’s lifetimes.  The line-up of the festival was recently announced for the event which coincides with the London 2012 Summer Olympic Games.  The Cultural Olympiad is a 17-day event (as are the Summer Games) and will be comprised of some 12,000 events that will take place throughout the UK.

The 2012 Olympic Torch is being carried by Ben Ainslie, the former three-time winner of the Olympic Gold Medal. Located at the tip of Cornwall, Land’s End was the starting point for the torch’s 8,000 mile trip through England to the London Olympic Games.
