campania

The region includes some famous cities such as Naples and Salerno as well as the spectacular Amalfi Coast. It is one of the most visited regions in all of Italy and makes for a perfect “base” for venturing out into the region and exploring all that it has to offer. However, if you follow the Vegan way and only eat Vegetarian, you will not be disappointed as there are several restaurants of this nature located in the region. Here are a few to consider.

I think that the ornate royal residences are on the itineraries of all breeds of travelers and tourists. May be because, only a few uber rich may be able to afford and own those residences. The majority of tourists, thus, like to pay small entry fee to experience the magnificence of the palaces for a while. If you visit Caserta in Campania, Italy, do not miss the Royal Palace (Caserta) of eighteenth century, which is now on the UNESCO World Heritage Site List. Inspired by the Palace of Versailles, this grandiose Bourbon palace fits beautifully in its scenic surroundings.

Getting around the hub of southern Italy is a lot easier than its sounds. Naples, the capital of the Campania region, is served by Capodichino International Airport. Here you can get direct flights to many European destinations which are served by regional airlines. You can also catch flights to and from the United States, off-season with a stop in Dublin, Brussels, Rome or France, or during the summer months when low cost carrier EuroFly flies direct between Capodichino and New York’s JFK Airport.

Italians love to eat but the cuisine of the northern region of Tuscany is quite different from that of the southern region of Campania. Northern dishes are traditionally more meaty and hearty, like a ribollita; while those in the south highlight fish because of their proximity to the sea. Yet, that’s not to say that any less attention is given to incredible pasta dishes and desserts. So here are the Top 5 dishes to try while touring Campania

The region of Campania has it all: stunning scenery, glorious gastronomy, captivating culture & jaw-dropping geology! What more could a tourist ask for? Not much, which is why tourists swarm to the Campania’s main attractions every year. With so much on offer and such diversity, it would be easy to spend weeks, if not months, exploring the different faces of Campania. Nevertheless, here’s my take on what’s not to be missed, in a list of the top five things to do in Campania:

Italy’s southern region of Campania is rich in both history and beauty and one of the most breathtaking drives is La Costiera Amalfitana, The Amalfi Drive. I am sad to see this series come to an end because the inspiration of this scenic road is endless.

Italy’s southern region of Campania is rich in both history and beauty. It’s also quite large at about 5,240 square miles. It runs from the province of Caserta in the north to the province of Salerno in the south. It would be impossible to tackle it all in a 1-2 week visit so here are 5 tips to keep in mind when setting forth on your first journey through Campania:

If that old saying is true – “a picture is worth a thousand words,” then half a century of film archives must be priceless for telling the story and the beauty of Italy’s Campania region. Many of the old Hollywood classics portray southern Italy in a simpler time and the black and white images add to the romance of the love stories and the sinister nature of the tales involving crime and mystery.

Classic Hollywood movies of the 1950s and 1960s shaped our early view of southern Italy both as a destination full of love and passion and as a sinister, dark hotbed of corruption. Yet, in the 1990s, filmmakers explored the more colorful side of Campania, often making its lush scenery as much a part of the plot as the characters themselves.

I don’t know about you, but I have a list of movies which are beyond beautiful and which draw me in so much that they make me want to buy a plane ticket every time I watch them. You know, those films which let you escape to a magical or exotic location, and are incredibly atmospheric making you feel as if you’ve travelled to another place?

Italy’s southern region of Campania is rich in both history and beauty and one of the most breathtaking drives is La Costiera Amalfitana, The Amalfi Drive. There is so much to see along the way that I had initially planned to divide this series into three itineraries but will now expand it into four parts, if you’ll indulge me. So consider this Part III of IV.
