Winter may not be behind us just yet, but with springtime just around the corner why not look at Zagreb in Croatia as your next spring beak holiday destination. The weather to say the least will be simply divine.

A Look at Zagreb
Zagreb is the capital of Croatia and has been so from 1991. Considered the cultural Mecca of Croatia, this thriving city will provide a wonderful blend of the old and new. Europe has a grand ability to do just that. In Zagreb this is no exception to the rule. The history behind the independent state which grew out of two medieval communities is definitely one for the historians to take great delight in.

Seeing Zagreb by foot is highly recommended. This allows you to experience the city up close and personal and even stumble upon off the beaten track alley or passage ways. Some sights to put on your list of things to see and do are the Medvedgrad. The Medvedgrad are some of the most impressive mountain around and have the strategic position of overlooking the city allowing for the perfect overview of the magnificent city. On foot your tour of the city will take in the cultural aspects of Zagreb and provide you with a most comprehensive intimate look at this fantastic city. Other very impressive sights to behold included the St Catherine’s Church. In a word this church is just simply glorious and a definite must see.

The Movie Hotel enjoys a very central location which allows you to venture out and explore Zagreb at your leisure whether it is by foot or automobile. Near the main arteries named Ljubljanska av., this location is convenient from anywhere in the capitol to arrive at especially with a tram situated just outside the front doors. Located just in front of the Movie Hotel, tram station is an excellent way to get around to the outer parts of the Zagreb. Where to Eat Out
Eating out in Zagreb will be an experience you will not want to miss. Dining out does not set you back financially as it is as affordable as it is enjoyable. This is great news for those on a budget. Local specialties such as salted sardines and anchovies, fresh water crayfish, pašticada - a dish of marinated beef served in its own special sauce and Dalmatian prosciutto and pancetta which all come highly recommended. There is something very special about sampling the local cuisine of any holiday destination. It is safe to say that you should expect something just a little more than the ordinary when seeking the ultimate dining out experience in Zagreb. Either way you will be pleasantly surprised.

For a wee bit more luxury and a central location, try the Regent Esplanade Hotel – it’s tripadvisor’s no.1 in Zagreb, is in Conde Nast’s Best Hotels in Europe listing and has some great deals available in April!
