Shopping Malls in Riga

Wednesday, February 2nd, 2011

Riga, the capital of  Latvia, has been experiencing something of a Renaissance lately with many of the older buildings throughout the city being renovated and/or restored.  Lately, Riga is  viewed as one of the most attractive cities in Europe.  Shopping in Riga offers the international traveler a number of excellent venues to enjoy such as the central markets and the little stands scattered around the central part of the city.

Riga: Shopping Mall

However, if you want to explore shopping malls in Riga, the following ones are highly recommended:

This huge shopping mall in Riga has lots of men’s and women’s shops to choose from.  Clothing stores, shoe shops, and sporting goods stores are everywhere.  There is a cinema, a fast food court, and a wide selection of restaurants to choose from as well.

Berga Bazārs

By far, this is Riga’s swankiest shopping venues so be prepared to see high dollar pricing throughout.  There is a courtyard that features a number of high-end cafés, restaurants, and other shops. Even the fitness club is an expensive venture.  Additionally, on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of every month, there is an antique and food bazaar that is well worth visiting with some better values to be had.

Galerija Centrs

This shopping mall has been in existence since the 1920’s.  However it was remodeled in the 1990’s and again in 2006.  It covers an entire square block of the Old Riga area and features dozens of trendy stores, numerous cafés, and a huge supermarket. The mall opens at 8 am and stays open until 10 pm every day.

Galleria Riga

Located in downtown Riga, this is a multi-story complex that offers numerous first-time Latvia locations.  There is a huge food court, restaurants, a rooftop terrace, and a Rimi Supermarket, all situated in the Riga city center.  There is plenty to keep you occupied here.

That his one of the biggest shopping malls that appears to never stop growing and adds new shops as well as more space all the time.  All of the usual shops can be found here along with a huge supermarket and an indoor children’s play area.  The mall opens from 9 am to 11 pm everyday.

A 4-floor retail shopping venue that offers the broadest range of appliances, fashion, and tableware items as well as the largest cosmetics store in the city.  Most importantly, it is the home to the very popular Stockmann deli and supermarket.  It is open from 9 am to 10 pm Monday through Saturday and 10 am until 10 pm on Sunday.

I would like to hike from town to town one spring/summer with my labrador, so if you want to be VERY specific, I’d be interested in dog friendly hotels/restaurants

Rural areas all over the world… so difficult to find good hotels there… In a city, hotel-screening is quite easy, but on the countryside, you need a professional –> venere? ;-)

Oskuro Outlet was my best surprise, not about the worlwide well known brandstock and their prices, but by the charming boys working there, polite, ironic and smart going. Thank you once again for a amazing shopping experience,Anne
