Situated between the Balearic Islands and Italy in the Tyrrhenian Sea as well as to the south of the island of Corsica is the island of Sardinia. Sardinia is one of the more popular Italian island destinations along with Sicily. Being an island, the allure for tourists is its beautiful beaches. The most beautiful and popular beach areas of Sardinia are broken down as follows:
Eastern – Olbia to Muravera
Northern and Northeastern - Stintino to Budoni
Southern – Chia to Pula
Western – Alghero to Cagliari

The following is a list of 5 of the most breathtaking and beautiful beaches of Sardinia that you should consider when vacationing there.
Bidderosa Beach – five distinct coves lined with eucalyptus, juniper, and pine trees as well as the bright white sandy beaches make this one of the more popular Sardinian beaches. The Mediterranean’s warm waters fill up the coves when the tide is at its highest levels but during low tide they are secluded and tranquil, a perfect spot for relaxing away the day.
Cala Luna – as the day progresses, the Mediterranean waters are like a kaleidoscope of varying colors from bright and sparkling turquoise to ultramarine as the sun is setting. The name of this beach is derived from its crescent-like, half-moon shape. Cala Luna is located on the western coast near Dorgali.
Cala Mariolu – locals claim that this beach has the most crystalline and translucent waters on the island. Located near the Gulf of Orosei in the city of Punta Ispuligi, Cala Mariolu, the rocky embankments are covered with a Mediterranean scrub growth while the pinkish hue of the pebbles washing up on the shore accentuates the coastline here.
Costa Verde Sardinia – located on the island’s western coastline, this area depicts why the beaches of Sardinia are so popular. The pristine shoreline is dotted by numerous quaint, small villages which also add to the allure of this beach. Although there are a number of pristine beaches in Sardinia, it is the quaint villages and rare animal species that attract so many visitors here.
Emerald Coast – known by the locals as “Costa Smeralda”, this region is the home to some of Sardinia’s (and quite possibly the world’s) most alluring and impressive beaches. The pristine waters entice some very affluent visitors who tend to stay in the most luxurious hotels, private villas, and resorts. Several world class sailing and yachting competitions are held here as it is known globally as a yachting paradise.
The allure of the blue sea, sandy beaches and a variety of activities in and around Sardinia ensures a memorable vacation to solo visitors and families.
