A Romantic Trip to Paris

Thursday, October 24th, 2013

One of the most romantic trips I have ever had was when my husband surprised me with two tickets to fly to Paris. I have always wanted to see this beautiful city and spend time using my schoolgirl French. We stayed at a fantastic hotel which was located right in the city centre, perfect for sightseeing.

There were many romantic hotels Paris to choose from, however the one we reserved fitted our requirements perfectly. The Champs Elysees was right on the doorstep, a great area to do some shopping, enjoy amazing French cuisine and of course, finding out what Paris has to offer. Avenue Montaigne and Place de la Concorde were both within walking distance of our hotel. The beautiful Eiffel Tower was one of the places I was yearning to see close up. We took the lift to the very top where the views of the entire city simply took our breath away.

The Gardens of Versailles is also a must-visit place too. You can see miles and miles of gardens, all kept in pristine condition. The Orangery was my favourite part of the Gardens of Versailles with magnificent trees, plants, bushes and shrubs all being placed in mirror images of each other. With soothing music in our ears, we both thought the gardens was like heaven on earth. A walk along the banks of the River Seine came next. We did some shopping and bought a couple of paintings from the artists who show their pictures.

During our stay we also visited Sacre Coeur. It’s an amazing sight which offers panoramic views as far as the eye can see. One of the many places we just couldn’t miss out on was the historical Notre Dame. On entering the great doorway we were completely bowled over with the stained glass windows, the calm atmosphere and the stunning architecture of the building. It was certainly well worth a visit. Our last port of call before we had to leave Paris was to walk under the Arc de Triomphe. Seeing the Memorial Flame in real life left us absolutely speechless.

Paris is definitively one of the most romantic city in the world! Last Sunday, no less than 6 brides were queuing on the beautiful Alexandre III bridge to get photographed with the wonderful view… But there are other (and less crowded) places in Paris where to live a romantic experience…
