If you go to Prague and don’t take the time to visit at least one of the theaters it has to offer, you will kick yourself when you get home.

The theaters of Prague cater for every taste, so check out the four offerings below next time you are in the city and prepare to be amazed.
1. National Marionette Theater
The National Marionette Theater is the center piece of this long and popular tradition in the Czech Republic. It is not the only one in the city, but it is arguably the best, and you should definitely take a look if you want to see a quality marionette performance. The large puppets are all dressed in period costumes, and performed against 18th century stage sets. The most popular performance is the puppet version of Mozart’s Don Giovanni, and anyone who has seen it will tell you it is not to be missed.
Located at Žatecká 1 in the Old Town, take the Metro to Staromestska on Line A to reach it.
2. Image Theater
The Image Theater is the best place in Prague to see the typical art form of black light theater. It is difficult to describe the magic of this without watching it, but it essentially aims to tell a story through a combination of mime, dance, puppets, actors and ballet. You will witness highly visual and stunning performances like nothing you have ever seen before, with a large focus on dance.
To reach the theater, take a tram to Starom?stská, and the address is Pa?ížská 4. Shows can be seen every day at 8pm.
3. Prague National Theater
Focusing mainly on opera, the Prague National Theater is also well known for its ballet and drama productions. But whatever you watch in this amazing building, you will not be disappointed. The first stone of the building was laid in 1868, and its aim was to embody the desire for a national identity and independence for the Czech people. It was then opened in 1881 to mark the visit of Crown Prince Rudolf of Austria, and since then has been marveled as a historic and beautiful monument to Prague’s cultural heritage.
It is located at Národní t?ída.
4.Karlin Music Theater
The Karlin Music Theater performs ballets, concerts, musicals and operettas. This huge building has a capacity of 1,099, and the atmosphere during a performance is quite simply electric. Constructed in 1881 in a mock-baroque style, it may not be as well known as the Prague National Theater, but is well worth a look if you’ve got the time.
It is located at Krizikova 10, and the box office is open from 10.00-13.00, and from 14.00-18.00, from Monday to Saturday.
