The current top 5 photographers in NYC are Michael David Adams, Richard Warren, Greg Powers, Jill Wachter and Amanda de Cadenet. If these wonderful photographers inspire you, take a look at these tips for your next trip to New York.

Tip #1: Go to the top of the Empire State Building or Rockefeller Center and take panoramic photos of the Manhattan landscape.  Manhattan is one of the five boroughs of NYC and is far too huge of an area to photograph from the ground.  Besides, and aerial photo of Central Park is much easier to take than trying to cover all 80+ acres…

Tip #2: Take pictures when you are out walking and exploring the streets.  Just be careful because as a major city, tourists are often targets for street theft.  Carry your camera around your neck and not over your shoulder.  For an added treat, look for street artists and performers.

Tip #3: New York City is characterized by its cultural diversity and wide variety of life events constantly being played out in front of those visiting the city.  Photo-journalistic opportunities are everywhere in NYC and are always available to take advantage of.  Be sure to look for images and scenes that tell a story.

Tip #4: Considering the diversity of cuisine and restaurants that exist in the city, you owe it to yourself to dine at one of the more upmarket restaurants such as Club 21 or Tavern on The Green.  Having brunch at the world famous Rainbow Club isn’t what you would call an ordinary meal, it’s more like an event!  In any case, be sure that you photograph your dining experience.

Tip #5: New York City is also characterized by its abundance of museums.  Recent estimates showed that there was over 80 to choose from!  Museums such as the one on Ellis Island,  the Jewish Museum and of course the Museum of Natural History should definitely make your list of places to photograph.
