How to Get to Oslo City from Oslo Airport

Tuesday, November 23rd, 2010

Oslo Airport (OSL) is the gateway to Norways capital city and other destinations in Norway, from the Fjords to the Norwegian Lapland. Also called Gardermoen, the airport is Norway’s main international airport and is located 50 kilometres outside the city of Oslo. The airport is proud of its good public transport connections and it is easy to get from the airport to Oslo by train or by bus.

By Train

The Airport Express Train, or Flytoget, is the easiest way to get to Oslo. Trains leave from the terminal building (in the arrival area, turn right after passing through customs and follow the signs). Trains leave every 10 minutes and the journey to Oslo Central Station, in the city centre, takes just under 20 minutes. Tickets can be bought from ticket machines or from the ticket desks, but tickets bought from the machines are cheaper. Most major credit cards are accepted.

The Norwegian State Railways offers local and regional train services from the airport, but the Flytoget is the fastest train service to Oslo city centre. In fact, the train is said to be one of the world’s fastest airport trains.

By Bus

The SAS Flybussen, or the Airport Express Coach, travels between the airport and the city centre every 20 minutes. The service operates every day. The Nettbuss company operates a shuttle bus to many hotels around the airport, so check with your hotel if the service is available.

By Taxi or Rental Car

Several taxi companies operate from the Oslo airport. The taxi information desk in the Arrivals hall can book taxis for passengers, and it also offers information about different companies and their fares to various destinations. Taxis pick up passengers right outside the Arrivals hall.

Several car hire companies, including many international ones, have offices at the airport. All rental desks can be found in the Arrival hall, on the way to the train station.

You’re right! But in the Summer it’s about 14-15°C, so it’s perfectly cool but you can go around in t-shirt/jumper..trust me the sights are stunning! The fjords are so beautiful :)

Hi – Want to visit Oslo in late May, 2013, getting Flytogo from airport to hotel. Trying to find a hotel that is within walking distance of the train, providing the area is near where we want to sight-see.

Hoping you can offer some advice.Thank you, Carolyn
