Munich Veggie Restaurants

Sunday, October 30th, 2011

The architecture, cuisine, culture, and history found in the city of Munich are what draw so many international travelers to this German city.  It is Bavaria’s capital and Germany’s largest federal state.  However, it is the cultural scene that is second to none where the country is concerned.  And let’s not forget about the world famous Oktoberfest celebration.  You might be surprised to know, where cuisine is concerned, that Munich also caters to those people looking for vegan and vegetarian menus.  The following are our choices.

Kaede – most of the dishes here are Japanese although they do serve the occasional hamburger.  The menu is vegan and organic for the most part and they also serve beer and wine as well as having a sufficient take-out menu.  The dessert menu is pretty tasty, too.

Tushita – international organic and vegan entrées, it is renowned as being a tea house as well.  They also sell organic teas and accessories as well as vegan dessert cakes.  Its charm stems from being a smaller and very cozy restaurant to enjoy a tasty meal in anytime of the day between 9:00 am and 10:00 pm every day except Sundays.

Café Ignaz – this establishment is lacto, ovo, and vegan friendly and is also a small, cozy café for enjoying a pleasant dining experience.  Make sure that you specify seeing the vegan menu if that is your reason for dining there.  Outdoor seating is also available.

Café Vor Ort – you’ll be able to escape from the noise of the city to the quieter suburbs when dining at this eatery.  Non-smokers will enjoy the fact that a garden dining area is now available and has been designated as a non-smoking area in the restaurant.

Fraeulein Mueller– without a doubt, this is Munich’s smallest café.  They offer baked goods, coffee to go, crepes, fresh juices, sandwiches with vegan spreads, and soups as well as an outdoor seating venue to enjoy them in.  Make sure you bring cash as this is the only acceptable method of payment.

Kopfeck– This is another one of Munich’s more popular vegetarian café venues.  The vegan entrées are all plainly marked on the menu and include such favorites as knoedel and sauerbraten, done vegan style, so you can experience true German cuisine at its vegetarian finest in one of the most relaxing settings in Munich.

Lecker-Bissen – whenever you are visiting the museum district and want a quick yet satisfying lunch, this is definitely the place to dine at.  They offer generous portions of hearty soups, pasta, salads, and vegetable pastries while the menu features German and Western dishes that are lacto, ovo, and vegan friendly.  Additionally, they have a decent beer and wine menu to take advantage of to further add to your relaxation.
