Originally from Austria, he combines a formal training in French cuisine, with a true passion for Asian food. José Andrés, chef at The Bazaar Restaurant, located in the SLS Hotel, Los Angeles, uses modern culinary techniques alongside his traditional Spanish roots, to create playful yet sophisticated dishes. Chef Andrés has a background in ‘culinary physics’. He has been credited with popularizing Spanish cuisine in the USA and is on Time’s 100 Most Influential List. Chef Andrés shares his experience by lecturing at Los Angele’s universities and is Dean of Spanish Studies at the International Culinary Centre. Andrés was born in Mieres, Spain and trained under the renowned chef, Ferran Adria, at the world famous El Bulli restaurant. The Bazaar´s dramatic interior was designed by Philippe Starck to complement the food of Chef José Andrés.
