Katie,

Thanks so much for posting this! I am thinking of doing a language class in Florence for a month or so and was at a loss for which one to choose. It sounds like Giorgio La Pira would be the best fit for me (I agree on maxing out at 2 hours per day). I am a relative beginner. Do you know if they offer their different levels of classes every month? Their website seemed to suggest maybe only one level was offered per month, but I may have mis-read this. Thanks again!

Feel free to read all about my experiences.

I have attended Giorio La Pira and agree wholeheartedly with your assessment of it. It was absolutely a terrific experience attending the two-hour evening sessions!

I would be really interested to read about your experiences working as an au pair in florence. Have you written about that at all?

Susan,

Yes I had a friend that went there. It still exists. She liked it very much as well.

When I was a student of Italian, I used to go to Florence every summer break to do language courses at the Fiorenza School in Via Santo Spirito. It was pretty good, not sure if it still is because this was 15 years ago.
They offered class and private lessons with homestays.
