Vegetarian Restaurants in Kuwait

Sunday, January 22nd, 2012

The Middle East country of Kuwait lies on the northwestern edge of the Arabian Gulf.  It is geographically situated between the gulf, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia.  As there is no nightlife to speak of in Kuwait (alcohol is prohibited), most people go to their favorite restaurants for an enjoyable night out on the town. Though a predominantly Muslim state, traditional dishes have meats as one of the ingredient but for those looking for a vegetarian fare, the choices are unlimited.

If there is one thing you can say where tourism is concerned in Kuwait it’s the abundance of restaurants that you will find throughout the country.  This also includes restaurants that are Vegan-Friendly and geared towards the vegetarian community.  Here is a listing of the most recommended vegetarian restaurants in Kuwait along with the cities where you will find them:

Fahaheel

Udipi – located inside of the Dabbus Building features mostly South Indian vegetarian cuisine although the menu also contains several North Indian dishes and local Kuwaiti cuisine as well.

Kuwait City

Ginger – the restaurant is located on the ground floor of the Muthana Complex and serves a variety of international, organic Vegan-Friendly cuisine.  Additionally, the restaurant also offers a delivery menu, juice bar, and a take-out menu.  They are open 7 days a week, 12 hours a day from 11 am to 11 pm.

Greenland – serves elaborate South Indian (Thali-Mumbai) cuisine that is Lacto and Vegan-Friendly.  They also have a juice bar and are open daily from 9 am to 11 pm.

Murgab

Sargam Restaurant – Vegan-Friendly Indian food is the primary cuisine here but the restaurant also features a fast food menu that is loaded with a wide range of Indian snacks as well.  It is located near the bus stand and the local science museum.

Salmiya

Desi Treat – located near the Indian School, this restaurant specializes in Vegan-Friendly North Indian cuisine in a buffet style format.  There is also a fast food and take-out menu available.  Outdoor seating is available.  Just be sure to bring cash as they do not accept credit cards.

Sagar – Lacto, Vegan-Friendly Indian food is the specialty here.  Like the restaurant above, it is located in close proximity to the Indian School.  Bring cash – no credit cards are accepted.

Sargam Restaurant – Vegan-Friendly, Indian cuisine available on a dine-in, fast food, and take-out basis.  Additionally, Indian sweets are also featured on the menu, whether you dine in or opt for fast food and take-out.  Food is served on a cash only basis as the restaurant does not accept any credit cards.
