Govinda’s Vegetarian Club at Ruoholahdenkatu serves Indian style vegetarian food. A typical meal consists of soup, rice, salad, a salty pastry and vegetable dish. However, only club cardholders can enjoy the food. You can sit cross-legged on the floor and eat with hands. The club also organizes a field kitchen in annual World Village Festival held at Kaisaniemi Park.
Kasvis Baari, located in Academy of Fine Arts, Kaikukatu, features vegetarian food made from fresh vegetables, nuts, seeds, whole grain cereals and legumes. Many ingredients used in its kitchen are grown organically. Kasvis sells warm vegetarian lunch and salads. Gluten-free options are also available. Lunch menu offers pasta pepperoni, basmati rice with Indian lentil, rice with vegetable sauce, mashed potatoes etc. Another highlight of the restaurant is vegetable festivals, focusing on vegetarian cuisines from different parts of the world, and parties.
Silvoplee at Toinen Linja, a café-restaurant, opens all days except on Sundays. The café that hosts painting exhibitions serves lunch buffet comprising vegan and vegetarian main course and desserts. Silvoplee also sells fresh seafood and organic wines. All items are priced per weight. You can choose from pineapple rice, Greek stew, mushroom soup, tofu items, lentil soup, Mexican casserole, vegetable rice, pasta and broccoli soup, to name but a few.
Vegemesta at Vaasankatu, serves affordable nutritious vegetarian burgers- hemp burger, Soya burger and tofu burger, bakery items and organic coffee. The burgers of Vegemesta that remains open throughout the week are made from rye or oats bread and stuffed with roasted onion, pickled cucumber, mustard ketchup, chili, garlic, tomato, lettuce and herb spread. Most of the ingredients are organically produced. Complimentary internet access is another plus.
