History of Berlin
Berlin has a bittersweet history and while most buildings still depict what the old Berlin used to look like, a whole other world of Berlin history can be found underground so try to get in a Underground Berlin Tour while visiting! The underground world of Berlin consists of sewers, tunnels and much more so it’s not a Berlin experience for the claustrophobic or faint of heart, but rather for the adventurous heart.

Transportation in Berlin
Berlin has one of the largest and oldest metro networks in all of Europe consisting of 2 main transit systems – the S-Bahn and the U-Bahn. The Berlin subway system is clean, safe and convenient. If you are accustomed to using subway systems in other major cities, you’ll find the Berlin subway system easy enough. Subway tickets can be bought at the ticket machines on the subway platforms and at ticket counters in larger stations. These subway tickets can also be used for buses and trams. Tickets range from €1.60 to €3.20. Short distance tickets cost €1.50 and are valid for a total of 3 stops, even if you change trains. Children under 6 years travel for free.

Great Things to Do in Berlin
While you are checking out the underground world of transportation in Berlin, you might as well squeeze in some extra sightseeing as well. The Olympic stadium was built in 1916 for the Summer Olympics that was to be held that year. This is the second biggest stadium in Germany. One of the most well-known landmarks of Germany is the Brandenburg Gate which was rebuilt in the late 18th century as a neoclassical triumphal arch. This is a great site to behold and a must see if you are in Germany. No visit to Berlin would be complete without a glimpse of the controversial Berlin wall. This wall was constructed in 1961 by the German Democratic Republic. A trip to Berlin is full of fun, activities and plenty of adventure.
