Susan, why did you not ask me what’s my favorite restaurant in Rome??? :-)

As Marco I like Trattoria Ivo in Trastevere for the moderate prices and friendly atmosphere, but I’d have answered Grotte del Teatro Pompeo, behind Campo de’ Fiori square. They make an excellent Amatriciana Pasta (pasta with tomato sauce, Italian bacon and red chili pepper… a must-try when you’re visiting Rome) and a special Mille-Feuille dessert: instead of being served in its traditional rectangular form with layers of cream and pastry, the cream is served in a cup and is mixed with puff pastry crumbs!
