Quick Facts about Worlds of Fantasy Disney on Ice Tour

Friday, September 30th, 2011

If you’re a fan of ice skating, whether it’s competitive or for entertainment purposes, then you are probably familiar with the Disney on Ice Tour.  Founded by the Feld Entertainment group under agreement with the Walt Disney Company, the Disney on Ice Tour has been entertaining families with children since 1981.  The shows are aimed primarily at children as the figure skaters are dressed in costumes that depict some of Disney’s most well known cartoon characters.

The original name of the Disney on Ice Tour was Walt Disney’s World on Ice, but that would be changed after 17 seasons to Disney on Ice.  This year’s theme is Worlds of Fantasy and is sure to be as successful as the past shows once the two-year tour is completed.  This year’s tour will feature characters from other Disney productions such as Cars, The Lion King, and The Little Mermaid as well as the upcoming Tinker Bell film’s cast of fairies.

About the fairy tale segment

As with every stop on the tour, the audience members of the initial cities will be provided with a treat as they travel into Pixie Hollow and watch the floor of solid ice transform itself into visions of springtime.  However, these audience members will be treated to the rare privilege of meeting some of the fairies while they are in their Never Land environment.  Any children in these audiences that are familiar with the Disney Fairies book series are sure to enjoy the experience.

Disney/Pixar’s Cars

Another outstanding segment of the Worlds of Fantasy Tour will be watching characters from Disney/Pixar’s Cars come to life on the icy floor.  Animatronics have been added to these skaters dressed up in Cars costumes so their eyes will be moving and their mouths will be twisting and turning as they perform on the highway of ice.  If it sounds like Disney Magic, you can bet that it will be in the finest sense of the term.

According to Kenneth Feld, the show’s producer, “Audiences will be blown away in Radiator Springs when they encounter the unforgettable crew of animated cars . . . They will see their all-time favorites — The Little Mermaid and The Lion King — and discover up-close the secret world of Pixie Hollow.”

Along with the newest show addition, the pre-show Disney Princess experience, this should provide the audience with an unparalleled experience where live family entertainment is concerned.  Finally, the Disney Princess experience includes being able to view a ball gown collection and numerous mementos from past Disney Princess stories.  And of course, there will be opportunities to take photos so you have permanent memories of the experience.
