For those of you who have never visited Tennessee and are trying to decide on what to see and do, you are going to find this a challenging task as the state is filled with numerous attractions and scenic wonders. We want to make your decision a little easier for you since there is no end to the things to see and do when vacationing in Tennessee. Whether you want to experience a great family vacation, or you and your significant other are looking for a romantic getaway, Tennessee has something to offer every taste.

The Smoky Mountains – probably the biggest part of Tennessee culture and history is this geographical feature and a must-see part of your vacation agenda. They are a beautiful part of the area known as Appalachia as well as a part of the Appalachian Mountain range. To get a good feel for this feature of the state be sure to visit Smoky Mountain National Park. The native fauna and flora abound in this preserve with the Smoky’s as the focal point in the background.

The town of Gatlinburg – situated near Smoky Mountain National Park is the historical Tennessee town of Gatlinburg, once a site of one of the US Civil War’s most significant battles. Today, it is alive with tourists who go there to enjoy fantastic entertainment, food, and shopping. You may even want to plan an overnight stay or two in Gatlinburg as there is just too much to take in within a day’s time.

Dollywood Theme Park – from Gatlinburg, travel on to the town of Pigeon Forge the home of this renowned theme park as well as numerous restaurants and entertaining shows. You can easily spend 3 or 4 days here so if time is not on your side make sure you experience Dollywood before any other attraction. This is an attraction you do not want to miss when vacationing in Tennessee. Rest assured that you will not be bored when visiting this town as this is one of the best areas that Appalachia has to offer the visitor.

Graceland – if part of your Tennessee includes visiting the Memphis area, Graceland should be the top priority on your vacation itinerary. It was a simple home at first but became “mansion” of the famous entertainer Elvis Presley. If you’re a fan of the “King of Rock and Roll”, you need to visit Graceland.

Grand Ole Opry – if the city of Nashville is part of your Tennessee vacation, no adventure in this city is complete without visiting the Grand Old Opry. This entertainment venue is the mecca of Country and Western music and you can enjoy any of the weekly concerts that take place here and have been since it opened in November of 1925.
