You’ve set the date and everything is ready for the big day. It’s finally time for you to enjoy the last few weeks without a wedding ring and start thinking about your amazing honeymoon, once all of this is over!
But don’t get ahead of yourself. If you want your honeymoon to be really special, you need to keep a few things in mind, one of which is your honeymoon destination. Here are 3 tips from the wedding advice experts at Zankyou to help things turn out just as you imagined…
1. When to go?
Work and personal life permitting, it’s always best to avoid the high season. Unless you’re looking for the typical hustle and bustle of travelling in August (which, in the case of your honeymoon, we doubt it) it might be an idea to wait a few weeks after the big day to take off. And not only will it all be a little quieter, but you’ll also get access to romantic hotels and B&Bs at the best prices.
2. What are you looking for?
Whether you’re looking for adventure in untouched settings, a culture-filled city break or a relaxing time at the beach, before you choose your destination, you need to research! Most couples would like to do several things doing their trips, so my advice is that you go for at least two weeks. That way, you can spend the first half of the honeymoon visiting places and doing activites and then second half relaxing. And remember, you should try and include some experiences, like theatre visits or a bungee jump, on your honeymoon wedding list, so that your guests can help you enjoy your holiday!
3. Your budget
No matter how much we talk about perfect holidays and your travel dreams, the reality is that your budget is also a key element when choosing your honeymoon destination. If you plan, you can save and, therefore, do more things. Remember, while getting to romantic European destinations like Rome or Paris can be cheap, once you’re there, prices are not necessarily low. On the other hand, flying to Asia or South America may take a big chunk out of your budget to start with, but your spends while travelling will be smaller.
Now all you have to do is make sure your passport is valid… Have a great honeymoon!
