However, you are vacationing on a budget in the city, then you want to know about the best cheap eats in Amsterdam.  The following is a handful of recommendations to consider for a nice meal that won’t break the bank:

CoBrA Movement Clubs – a fad-type restaurant that started in the latter part of the 20th century, their specialty is delicious club sandwiches.  It is also a hotspot for local area professional couples.

Jordino – if you’re looking for decadently, delectable sweets, handmade chocolates, or seasonally flavored ice cream, this is the place to visit.

Arnots – this is an excellent café that features some of the best coffees in the city, freshly squeezed juices, and large portioned sandwiches.  It is a summer favorite for the locals so be prepared to wait for a table.

Pancake bakery – the breakfast hotspot for locals and tourists who have a budget to contend with.  Forget lunch.  Even at that time of the day you are going to want to take advantage of the pancake buffet.  While we think of it, don’t overlook the opportunity to enjoy the different French crepes you find at the buffet.

Blijburg aan zee (closed during part of the winter) – you can enjoy some exceptional Dutch and Italian dishes here while sitting under a terrace table with an umbrella and staring at the sun setting on the western horizon during the summer months.  Gaze out over an azure blue lake surrounded by sandy beaches.  It’s the perfect place to while away the late afternoon and early evening during the warmer months.  By the same token, when it is open during part of the winter, the setting makes for an enchanting evening the couple doing the romantic thing for the evening.

Here are a few other tips for enjoying cheap eats in Amsterdam and eating on the cheap while visiting the city:

Bars and coffee shops – don’t kid yourself.  These venues usually offer decent and filling sandwiches and great beverages at a price that is unbelievably affordable.
