Stayed in a double with my 21 year old daughter. Room was very clean, as was the bathroom...but no TUB, small shower, The view although not fronting the beach was nice, we could easily see the ocean and the mountains...beautiful. The breakfast, which was included in the price was WONDERFUL, really delicious, good selection...the pastries were excellent!. This is NOT your typical Best Western style 'free' breakfast'. (Actually did not know this was a Best Western when I booked it). Breakfast well replentished,( even offered American coffee, which I don't expect while visiting Italy) servers very friendly and prompt with the coffee, etc. TRY the 'ORANGE JUICE" (from blood oranges I presume) it was EXCELLENT!!!! The staff was wonderful...friendly, professional, courteous, and VERY helpful. Housekeepers were friendly also. Most of the desk staff spoke some English, Eduardo was very helpful and spoke English very well. Though not proficient in Italian, do speak enough to get around, and I do not expect the people who live in the country I am visiting to speak my language, but for those of you who don't speak any Italian, it will be helpful to you for the staff there to speak some English. You can hear noise from the rooms either adjacent or above, people moving chairs and talking in the halls, as the flooring is mostly tile. Don't think the windows are double glazed, and it is on the boardwalk so you can hear people milling around. Didn't bother us though. The car to the train station was not in service (don't know if they usually have one anyway), but they were very helpful in calling a taxi. Taxi far from train stationt to hotel was 13 euro, from hotel to train station was 11 euro. (too far to walk, with any luggage). Hotel and area around the beach reminds me of Hollywood Florida beach area. It's a cute town with a 1920's feel.

The hotel is too "old fashioned", a classical 60' in Italy.

Lovely hotel. Would definitely go again. All the staff were extremely polite and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. Great location. There is a bus stop outside that will take you up the coast and to Pisa. Check out the ice cream parlour next door - best ice-cream in Italy. It was a pity that you had to pay for the beach - 15euros and 85 euros each way for the airport transfer. Considering how much you are paying for the hotel. But don't let that put you off visiting! Views from room were amazing - sea to the left and the mountains to the right - you couldn't beat it!

Absolutely stunning hotel with luxury from a bygone age. Had a wonderful stay and the public rooms were a joy. Loved viareggio and would love to return. Hiring the bikes is a great way to get around

Overpriced but this a common rule in the whole area. Nice architecture and the rooms with the old floor tiles have more charm than the ones with carpet. It is a pity that the balcony had not been serviced as we found several beer cans and a full ashtray.

Staff and facilites were fantastic, you really need to do something about the quality of the food served at breakfast and its location, having to queue for fifteen minutes to sit in an extremly hot room for a very limited breakfast was not good. we'll come again. Regards Darren

I am not at all satisfied with the hotel, for example the personell was really unfriendly, for 250 euro per night you expect much more.

Neither aircon nor fan was working, while it was extremely hot at the time we've stayed at the hotel. No porter service was available when we arrived and we had to carry the luggage ourselves. No parking was made available even though it seemed to me that there was plenty of space on the hotel ground. There was virutally no parking space in the close vicinity of the hotel so I had to circle for quite a while when I returned one night to the hotel and then had to park my car far away from the hotel. When the same thing happened on the second night we stayed at the hotel I parked my car out of frustration right in front of the entrance and was reprimanded the next day for it.

This was a very good hotel. The hotel pool is very nice, and the food is very good, with good service. But we thought it was rather poor value for money. We stayed for two nights in Siena (in an excellent hotel) for the price of 1 at Grand Hotel Royal. We didn't think much of Viareggio itself - 1930s ribbon development, no character.

A wonderful hotel, with an incredibly luxurious aspect. Very wide rooms, probably with the fault of these portable devices of air conditioning that are noisy. Perfect situation opposite to the sea. Very calm and agreeable swimming pool with an effective service of bar and especially a spectacular dining room where the breakfasts were a luxury
