Very reasonably priced for a basic tourist hotel in a building of character a few steps from St. Mark's Square. Very comfortable beds in fair-sized rooms with tiny bathrooms. Nice furnishings in public areas. Adequate buffet breakfast. Staff have seen too many tourists to be friendly, but remain polite.

The hotel was in a good safe location. I did like the view from our window. The staff were nice and helpful and made us feel welcome. I liked that the room came with a safe. What was tough were the several steps we needed to climb to get to our room. But I guess this is common in all the hotels in venice. There was a musty smell I could not help but notice. The structure is old so I guess thats expected.

We booked these rooms months ahead and got an incredible rate. I had some doubts because of previous mediocre reviews, but this hotel was truly excellent. We were actually given two beautiful rooms on the top floor, both with balconies overlooking the campanile of San Marco. The staff was among the most courteous we encountered in Europe, and the location couldn't have been better. One just gets off at the San Marco vaporetto stop, walks across the square, takes one of the couple of tunnels leading through the shopping gallery on the other side, crosses a bridge, and the hotel is there. The Cathedral is five minutes away, and so are many, many good restaurants and shops. We will definitely return.

At nearly $600 / night ,tiny stuffy room facing a wall,I was hoping that internet might be included .but alas NO -well, yes if you throw in another $20 --for 1 hour! A totally over priced hotel -the worst decision I have made in my travels- in relation to my travel dollars

Location of hotel excellent. Staff competent and nice, but not overly friendly or welcoming. Room was fine but very noisy every morning; there was a lot of noise on the corridors. Also the picture of the bedroom on Venere was slightly misleading; the room was not as nice as it looked on the website in reality. Also we paid extra for a 'double superior' room and i'm not sure how the room we stayed in was any different from a regular 'double room'. When we asked at reception we were given a vague answer. Breakfast facilities great.

The hotel is conveniently located 50 meters from San Marco Square, which makes it easy to get to when your dropped off at on the Grand Canal water taxi stop. The rooms and bathroom are clean, but very small. Youll be bumping into each other quite a lot. The breakfast was adequate. I would strongly advise against taking the Morono glass factory tour arranged by the front desk. You feel somewhat preasured to make a purchase due to the individual salesman assigned to each party. If you go don't buy anything at the factory! I did and saw the exact same piece in Venice for 1/3 of what I paid.

Hotel is in a great location - just steps from the Piazza San Marco and in the middle of lots of shopping and restaurants. We began our gondola tour from the canal directly beside the hotel. We were traveling as a family and had a spacious two-bedroom suite overlooking a courtyard - very comfortable. A variety of foods were served at breakfast in a pleasant room on the street.

I would not stay at this hotel again. The only thing it has is location just off Piazza San Marco. I don't recommend anyone stay at this hotel unless they are deaf or the last one to go to sleep in Venice. Way too much street and hotel noise. We stayed here out of necessity after staying at the All'Angelo earlier in the week. The All'Angelo had it's faults but was still twice the hotel at almost half the price.

The hotel is well located and indeed very close to Piazza San Marco. It is a bit far to get there on foot from the train station (40 minutes walk). But it is ok if you catch a boat. The room is a bit small but comfortable.

Venice - always expensive, but booking through venere.com saved us over €100 a night! Superb location right behind St. Marks Square. Our room overlooked a canal - charming and always interesting. The only problem was 'Acqua Alta' which meant finding some devious routes around St. marks to keep our feet relatively dry.

The location, across a canal behind Piazza San Marco was ideal. At night you could hear the orchestras. In fact, I usually had a nightcap at the Caffeé Florian. The street the hotel is on leads directly to good shops and restautants. The food at breakfast was excellent. However, the coffee was terrible. We only ate in the hotel the first morning and went to nearby places the rest of the stay.

I WISHED THAT THE STAFF HAD INFORMED ME THAT EXTERNAL BUILDING WORK WOULD RESTRICT MY USE OF OPENING ANY WINDOWS OR SHUTTERS. PERMANENT DARKNESS IN THE ROOM DIDNOT PERTURB ME VERY MUCH AS IN VENICE ONE IS OUT DOOR MOST OF THE TIME, BUT OUT OF CURTESY I SHOULD HAVE BEEN WARNED AND A REDUCTION SHOULD DEFINATELY HAVE BEEN MADE. GREAT LOCATION FOR AN OLD HOTEL.

My stay was generally pleasant, the only exception being one rather sour lady in the restaurant (shortish blond hair) who made it obvious to all that she did not like 'tourists' of any kind and was backed up by other guests during my stay. The other two girls (of filipino descent) were very courteous. It spoiled what was in other respects a good experience of venice. I suggest that you caution her appropriately regarding her general attitude, as that would be the only reason why I (and others) would not return to that hotel for future visits to venice. I am sorry I could not give a better report, but I'd rather be honest so that you can give a better service to others in the future. All the best Richard Brister

The air conditioning in our room was basically non-existent. We did ask for a fan, which they provided, but still were unable to sleep because the room was so hot. The rooms were very clean and the hotel is in a great location. Be prepared to wander and ask local people for directions. It took us 1.5 hours to find the hotel. The best directions we got were as follows: Go to St. Mark's Square. Find Cafe' Quattro and turn right down the first small street you come to. The hotel will come up on your left. Sounds easy, but without explicit instructions in Venice it was very difficult and frustrating especially hauling luggage in 32 degree weather.

The hotel is quite ok, the rooms are clean. You can reach Marcus place within 1 min by walking, and you are quite near to the main tourist highlights. We were unlucky and got a room with a minimum noise level during the late evening and night due to the customers in a bar below, and due to the entrepreneurs closing their shops in the small street below.

The location of the hotel is perfect, right behind St. Mark's Square. We stayed in a standard double room the first 2 nights. The room was very tiny, not enough room to open 2 suitcases. The wall paper was old and stained. There was a small window but no view at all. The third night we upgraded to a superior room which was 1000 times better. The room is much more spacious with nice furniture and no ugly wall paper. The bathroom is very spacious and clean. There were 2 tall windows looking out to the street. I would recommend this hotel only if you book the superior room.

I stayed here during Carnival and the location was just perfect. It was right off San Marco square. For what I paid (it was a superior room at 234 Euros a night) the bathroom was a little small and the shower door was broken, making the space even more cramped. As one of many hotel rooms in Europe, this superior triple was rather spacious and I was satisfied with this and the location standing just behind Saint Marco Piazza. These were the best parts of this hotel. I felt they didn't provide good service. Though breakfast was included in the price, they did not mention it and this breakfast restaurant didn't open on time so we only use once while staying 3 nights. No concierge. Public space was so small.
