Poorest service on my entire trip (14 hotels in total in six different countries), specially from the morning manager. What a waste of money. No service at all and the morning manager was no helpful at all. It's just a shame that you people at Venere have a hotel like this in your profile. Low quality hotel and service it's not worth the money I paid for that staying.

Not a very expensive place to stay in Paris, BUT horrible conditions ( stinky !!!!!) Very low competence and unfriendly employees ( unable to provide anykind of information or services !!!!; SOME OF THEM SPEAK FRENCH SO BADLY, THAT I COULD HARDLY UNDERSTAND THEM).

The hotel is basic as you can expect from the price you pay. Located on the outskirts of paris but close to sacre coeur .2 metrostations close to hotel . General store and good library at walkingdistance. Overal good for price you pay.

The hotel location was close to Sacre Ceure. The area around that is nice with lots of restaurants with friendly service. The metro stations were not so pleasing to walk from. Though we weren't bothered, we were just very aware of our surroundings when walking through at night. The hotel had poor sound insulation. We asked to be moved after the first night as we could hear the elevator all night. The sound proofing was so bad we could hear our neighbor coughing and unzipping his suit case. Breakfast was sufficient for 8,50 euro. You get what you pay for at 90 euro per night.

This hotel was cheap and it showed. It was very shabby, tiles missing from the shower( although there was plentiful hot water). Carpet up the wall, and the room was basic and cramped. OK if all you want is a cheap bed for the night and dont look too closely.

The room was terrible. We planned to stay 6 nights but left on the first. We stayed one night only because we were tired and it was late to look for another hotel. The room was small and dark and the bed horrible. If you have any other option don´t choose this hotel cause it does not look like the pictures and the room smells like an ashtray.

Double room, at back of hotel so quiet. I was horrified at the decor. The walls were carpeted in dirty maroon flock type, which was well worn and disgusting. The whole room was very early 70s. The bed was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was clean but tiny and the shower was not attached to the wall. There were hundreds of light switches around the room, but only two of them worked! The whole hotel was quite bizarre in its decoration. Very well located. Cheap for its location. Would suit youngsters, not a pair of oldies like us. I'll put it down to experience. Breakfast was quite sparse, but the usual for continental city.

At first sight it looks like a real dump, shabby lobby and elevator, old rugs, scratched paint on the wall. But the bed turns out to be OK and the rooms to the back are very quiet, the staff was friendly, the location and the price quite good. Overall it turned out to be OK.

The quality of the hotel is very poor and the interior is very worn. The lights in the room consists of florecent lamps whereof 50% was out of order. The temperature in the room never exceed more than 15 centigrades celsius eventhough it was in the end of October. We will not recommend the hotel to anubody, and the rating of the hotel should be one star not two.

NOT FOR FAMILIES WITH BABY!!!: The hotel confirmed via e-mail to provide a babies bed, but didn't. The reception lady was even very rude and told us that a baby bed does not exist and that we should look for a different place (at 11p.m. with baby...) After leaving her office she ran after us and at least offered a bigger room (even though she said before that she was fully booked). The nights were awful, but for people without baby the hotel is o.k. - very loud street, but central location.

ASSOLUTAMENTE DA EVITARE SE SI PREVEDE DI ARRIVARE TARDI A PARIGI IL QUARTIERE è PESSIMO

On arrival at the Hotel my party was given a good welcome, but when we saw the rooms we were disappointed as the rooms were basic and some of the lights were not properly attached to walls. There appeared to be a lack of cleanliness and when we complained we were given another room which was not any better standard. I wanted to use the bathroom and found that there was no light in the bathroom and the young man on duty said the light could not be repaired until the next day. Our party including myself decided we could not stay there and asked for a refund which we were refused. Fortunately we found alternative accommodation which we were happy with. We Returned to The Hotel Doree for our cases and the young man in reception said that the light in the bathroom had been repaired but by this time we could not have stayed there because of the reasons aforementioned. I would certainly not recommend this Hotel to anyone and The Hotel which we found gave us a most enjoyable stay. This was a most stressful experience which I hope not to encounter again.

L'albero è letteralmente SCHIFOSO. Sporco, piccolo, servizi igenici vecchi, igiene scarsissima.

This hotel does not deserve the term "hotel". It is really a pigpen place: dirty, undressed, with no facility other than the dirty, obscure and uncomfortable room. We have been in Paris 3 times before the actual trip: never we had to support such an unworthy so-called hotel in Paris or in any other city. The reason for our acceptance to stay there was that when we checked-in, because of the inauguration of 2007 World Rugby Cup, it made difficult to get other lodgement. Besides, we were obliged to pay the 3 days in advance, at checking-in.

Easy to get to from any train connection, staff were very helpful giving us directions to where we needed to go in the city (and spoke English well), bed was exceptionally comfortable for this quite budget-priced room. Handy supermarket next door. Area was not that nice at night, but was only a short walk to nicer areas (such as the view and cafes on top of Monte Matre or the train station).

We chose the hotel because it says "ADSL in all rooms". It's NOT true. ADSL is a computer in a closed and dark room and you can not use after 10pm. Besides, in reception, the woman is always shouting employees, and the chinese man (night time) is sleeping and sometimes he 's not opening the main door of the hotel. The price is "excellent", but now it's totally understable. It's one of the worst zones of Paris. Near places: metro station, kebab's and mobile shops anywhere, and one bakery. I will prefer to pay a little more next time for me in Paris.

On checking in, we were informed that we had to pay up the entire room tarrif in advance in CASH - since their credit card machine was out of order. They hounded us till we changed money- at a very high price- and paid them. On entering the room, we found it had already been used by someone earlier. On complaining, we were handed another room where the room lights were not working. The manager smugly responded that he would get it fixed the next day- we were left in complete darkness that evening (we fixed it ourlelves the next day). During check-out, we forgot to take our laptop adapter..when we returned afer 3 days and requested them to check to see if it still plugged in, they refused to help in any way. The computer available for internet access was located in a 'junkyard' and didnt wok properly. Never again!

The hotel was inexpensive, compared to others throughout Paris. Based on price, it was worth it, nice staff. Single women should be alert at night leaving metro station to hotel (only a 2-3 min walk). The Cathedral 15-20 walking distance, part of the walk has a lot of stairs to climb, but a beautiful view and church. 2 Metro station entrances only 2-3 min away. I love to traval and will always seek out inexpensive hotels. If you are a traveler not looking for frills, then you should be satisfied with this one.

At the last minute i had to book a triple room. Upon arriving we were given the option of 2 rooms and chose the larger of the 2. They were both extremely small with the 3rd bed being a narrow settee. The actual room had red, what looked like carpet, on the walls and green floor coverings. The bathroom was so small we had to come out into the room to get dressed after a shower. And the towels were actually hand towels. A bonus to have 10 between us. The area was close to the metro but we had to constantly travel as it is close to nothing of interest, restaurents or any public areas. Upon arrival we were asked to pay for the room in advance which i now suspect was because people would otherwise leave. Although i was not expecting much for the price, i would not recommend or stay here again.

While not luxurious, I found the Hotel Doree to be clean, comfortable and very well located within easy walking distance of the Sacre Coeur (in fact we could see the top of the spires from our window!), and the Gare du Nord where we arrived from London. There are many good places to eat nearby, and it is only about 100 meters from the Chateau Rouge Metro station.

Very competitive room prices for Paris. Bathroom, towels and bed linens were very clean. The carpet, however, was old and filthy (like so many hotel carpets) and I wouldn't dare go barefoot on it. My room looked out on a quiet rear courtyard separating the hotel from some apartment buildings but I could hear the guy in the next room yakking on the phone, through the thin walls.

Well, if you want a cheap and friendly hotel, near the metro, and the only thing you care for is just a night's sleep, then maybe this hotel is ok...However, rooms are tinny, facilities are from minimal to absent, cleaningness is questionable (if you want to walk to bed after your shower, you better spead towels on the carpet to keep your feet clean), central heating was not available at the top floor (at the time of our visit) and the local area is not at all inspiring if not scary at night...

We stayed at the Doree for 4 nights. For our first trip to Paris it was a good spot, handy to public transport and plenty of cafes. The rooms are simple and tiny (apparently common in Paris) but clean, comfortable and quiet. The staff were always very helpful despite our very poor language skills and we managed find out the best bus and Metro routes. Breakfast was simple but plenty to eat (a real bonus in Europe). The local area is a real experience and the travel to the major sites takes a while but you see lots of the city. Can definitely recommend the Doree to budget travellers who what to see Paris.

The lady that owns the hotel is very helpful and kind, but the lady who welcomed us was not helpful at all. The relashionship between price/quality is quite good. I was really annoyed by the fact that we asked for a smoking room and although they confirmed, when we arrived at the hotel we realized that the property was non smoking. As a result, every morning we were looking for another place to have breakfast. They should mention it on the web pages.

I could not bring myself to step foot into the shower, it was dark, with no light & looked scarey. luckily we only stayed one night. The bed & bedding was dissapointing. The only thing that was good was the service at the reception, the staff, the artwork was interesting & location was ok-ish. I'ved decided not to go for such a low budget next time. Basically, this hotel needs a refurbishment esp in the bathroom facilities department. If you are looking for a little romance on a low budget - forget this place.

Booked for 4 nights but only stayed for the 1st night as we arrived late so it was too late to find another hotel. The pictures on Venere did not correspond with the horrible room we were in. It had dark wine carpets all along the walls, the room was dusty and dark and had an unpleasant smell. There were also lots of little moths fluttering around the room. The bathroom, however, was quite good. In the end we stayed in an Etap hotel with spacious fresh clean rooms for a fraction of the price.

Having said that, the bed was clean, comfortable, shower was clean, room was quiet. The receptionist shown in the picture is very nice & helpful, speaks good English. There's another one who's not at all helpful & would sit chatting on the phone while 5 people are waiting for room keys. A guy got thrown up against the hotel door, frisked & arrested (at 5pm). Area is very dodgy, pretty poor & people looked at us very strangely everywhere we went (basically coz there aren't many tourists in this area as it's fairly unsafe). The receptionist told us it was unsafe to be out at night so we got a taxi straight to the door. For a cheap night's accommodation, the hotel is fine. I can't say the same for the area it's located in though. If I return to Paris I'll be paying a bit more to stay in a much safer area.

Nothing fancy, but quite adequate with great staff---VERY helpful, gave great ideas for what to see in the area, how best to get around, etc. Within walking distance to Basillica Sacre Coeur, etc.

clean hotel, good communications. Not very friendly reception, and personel came into the room when they like, even when you are in the room...neighboorhood is not very safe in the evenings/night...

We arrived late and the gentleman that greeted us was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were much smaller than we expected, which made us want to view the sites that much more. The staff were all excellent, very friendly and helpful, which made up for the room. Be prepared, breakfast is an extra charge.

More like a hotel than a hostel. The room was tidy but not particularly clean. Both of us were bitten all over so suspect there were bed bugs. The owners decided to change our room for the second night, and moved all our belongings without consulting us first! Overall very disappointing - stay somewhere else if you can.

We were really surprised at how most of the staff were very friendly. One person seemed to to care we needed anything, but she was there only one day. The area has many place to get a quick bite to eat and a jazz bar right next door. When we returned to gather our luggage (which was free of charge) they offered us a hot cup of coffee on the house, which was very nice with the below freezing temperature outside.

Not especially cheap, but probably one of the cheapest in town --after you find out that a "cafe au lait" in the city center costs 4 euro!! The location is practical and the staff quite friendly. No complaints at all.

The hotel was very nice, especially taking into account the really low price. The room was clean, even invitingly cozy, like you would expect a french country house to be. So the first impression was very warm and good. We felt at home. The bath room is spacious and enough towels are provided. the staff was very kind. we did not take the breakfast in the hotel but enjoyed the best cafe au lait in the Cafe des oiseau right next door. The only disappointment were the two lonely cockroaches we encountered: one in the room itself and the other in the bathtub. They were quite friendly and with their size of a 1 cm each not even intimidating. Overall we were very happy with the hotel.

This is an 'OK' hotel for a brief stay in Paris. The room was small but clean and the bathroom was fine - reasonably clean with copious amounts of hot water. The staff at the reception desk were excellent - very helpful and polite. The breakfast was a bit haphazard but adequate. As I said, not a bad wee place for a short stay.

Comodo per la metro. Camera pulita e arredata in modo carino. Tv satellitare.

1. The old French lady at the reception was friendly and helpful. She gave me an informative brief of what i could see in Paris upon arrival. 2. For those who want to stay at this hotel, remember to get off at Marcadet Poissonniers (Metro line 4). I tried to reach the hotel from Barbes Rochechourat which I had to pass through a neighbourhood that did not seem safe. 3. Payment must be made the night before check-out. So, remember to prepare sufficient cash. 4. Overall speaking, it's at a convenient location for you to explore the Sacre Coeur area.

I had a wonderful stay here, especially because the location is excellent - though not too suitable for females travelling on their own. The "erotic services" area is just nearby, and it may happen you will be mistaken as one of the ladies offering their services... But it still does not leave you feeling unsafe or so. The hotel is very cosy, and we stayed in a room with cool brick shelves. The metro station is just a few steps away, and merry Sacré Coeur with its phantastic view over Paris is only a short walk. Make sure your booking is well communicated with the night guard... The management though is very welcoming and professional. We'll come back sometime!

room clean but basic. No tea/coffee, radio/alarm facilities in room but you could ask for an alarm call. Shower very small and basic with very little room to manover in small bathroom and water from shower spraying on floor due to inadequte shower curtain and if closed properly you would be in darkness. No plug in sink for shaving and only small hand towels available to have shower. only two small bars of soap for washing. However, the room and bedding was clean and tidy, friendly hotel with good access for site seeing. Overall the accomodation was good value for money.

A very warm welcome from Madame who provided us with maps and directions to sights. She was most helpful throughout our stay. Rooms at front can be noisy (apparently) but ours at the back was very quiet. We were very impressed that they were prepared to provide my husband with a large salad for breakfast since he cannot eat bread. Patron was rather chaotic and forgetful serving breakfast and this was only downside, but not serious from our point of view! Excellently situated for Montmatre and Gare du Nord. We will return if we can be sure of room at the back.

This is one of the best of the 7 small hotels I've stayed at in Paris. I enjoyed the surroundings and atmosphere and the service. My stay was in February -- busier times may produce other results. I stayed in a room that overlooked the rooftops of Montmartre and Sacre Coeur -- at my request. I would not advise the streetside rooms for anyone who is sensitive to street noise -- which I am not. I would gladly book there again, at the next opportunity.

We had a good time and they laid on a cot for young daughter, which was much appreciated. It is on a noisy road, (try to get a room on the higher floors) but is in a great location (nearest subway, Chateau Rouge) and is great value for money.

The room seem structurally unstable. The walls had cracks, floor squeeked and door was made of plywood. The towels smelled of cigarette smoke when our room was a non-smoking room. The location was near subway stations but on a less desirable side of Montmartre. For the price, it wasn't a very good hotel.

Nice owners, location near the metro station, view to Sacre Coeur if the room it is at the street, noise is not very disturbing if you are at the 6-th floor. Near the metro station you must be careful, after that the surroundings become better. Just near the hotel is a Champion supermarket. The room had clean sheets, clean bathroom, and is suitable if you are in Paris to walk a lot and only go to rest in the room which it is not very spatious (it was a double with shower).
