The location is excellent 200 mtrs walk from Central Station, bus, tram and Met. adjacent to historic Don Bosco church. Quiet older area. Has "madison' hotel name outside ,not Best Western. rooms are spotless and spacious, large updated bathroom, very comfortable, WiFi. We stayed one night, but breakfast excellent in a beautiful room. Good value.

Staff at the front desk varied, sometimes they were nice, sometimes a bit harsh. Good breakfast. Location close to the train station, what has advantages and disadvantages. Non-smoker room smealt ok (i mean, didn't smell), but the corridor had a terrible cigarette smell.

Our Double room was more like a suite and was clean and comfortable. We had difficulty finding the street and no locals seemed to know it. The area around the station was derelict and the shops and footpaths need some attention. The staff were helpful with restaurant advice in the surrounding area(only 2 were recommended),the breakfast included in the tariff served cold hard boiled eggs, making a change from the usual only cold cut meats and cheese.Excellent choice of coffee made freshly by the barista.I am unsure what other clientele may stay in this quite nice hotel, there but I found the area around it depressing.

Not a great stay. We only used it for an overnight stay before we travelled on. Rooms were damp and smelly. You will miss breakfast if you need to leave early like we did at 6am. Service at the bar was poor. Area is dodgy. Over priced for the quality.

-The room was smelling humidity and mould. We had to keep window open 24h. -The photo presented on the web had little to do with the reality, which was sad. -Many broken tiles in the bathroom. -We were being woken up by ambulances (next door hospital) and the rubish track. 11 rubish bins were right under our window. Unacceptable. -There are night bars in the area and strange people. Not safe for a lady after dark. -Breakfast was plastic. The cheese was only 1 kind and greasy. Too many packed items. -Double bed had 2 single mattresses with double sheets. Couldn't sleep as a real couple.

The location is ideal (very close to train station and lot's of good and affordable restaurants. The price for the room was far too high for the quality of the room and service. (Price gone up that night probably caused by local large event in Milano) I was charged for the consumption from the minibar although there was no price information available in the room (I assumed, like in many other hotels the drinks were for free). I would return to this hotel only if charged at a normal rate (up to max Euro 130.- /night)

In general, the hotel would be ok. It is 150m to Milano Centrale, the breakfast is not terrific but ok, the beds are comfortable and you can put up with the view from the bathroom of a carpark. If you are wanting to go shopping, it is two train stations from the centre where all the good shops are. In terms of service, the staff are indifferent and will not care but this may not be a deal breaker. The reason why I personally would not recommend this hotel to anyone is because in a time of need this hotel will let you down. Upon realising that I had been the victim of credit card fraud I was refused access to the hotel computer and instead required to pay to use the internet to print the card statement. When asking for help to report the incident to the Italian police, the hotel reception rudely paid for take away food, answered other phone calls and tended to other guests needs rather than give us the directions to the local police station. As a result, the local police station which was a 400m walk away had closed by that time and we had to go to the main police station. The hotel would not call the police, write down in Italian what we wanted to communicate or even arrange a taxi for us to the station. In the end I caught the train at 9pm at night to the main police station with basic map directions and had to stop twice at other hotels just to find the way. Despite having been told that a police officer would speak English by the hotel, we waited two hours at the police station only to be told to come back the next day with an interpreter. As a general rule, I make it a habit to stay in 4 star hotels so that in times of need there is the comfort that the hotel will, by virtue of having a higher standard of service and be there to help. This hotel did everything but that.

The hotel was difficult to find, we arrived late and our double room turned out to be a twin room. We asked for a recommendation for somewhere for a quick pizza and were directed to an extremely expensive restaurant... Apart from this the hotel was nice and clean and convenient for the station.

This was my first stay at Hotel Madison. We stayed over night and continued to the city of Alessandria the next day. Madison is located near the Central Station, which is why we chosed the hotel. But the internet map of the hotel's location was very difficult to understand. Also the Italians thougt so.

Close to the station and easy to find. Needs a bit of an update to renew it a bit, but for the location and our requirement, it was fine. We arrived late and left early and were able to sleep as needed. Breakfast was on offer early and food appropriate. Wouldn't recommend if you were wanting a flashy hotel - you pay for what you get! Clean and simple!

This is the perfect hotel for having to overnight in Milan for an early morning train as it is only two blocks from the central station. It is also only a quick three stops on the metro outside the train station to the Duomo/Shopping Plaza/La Scala corner of town. I was very surprised at how clean, modern and efficient this hotel was. Rooms were not spacious but were certainly adequate for two. . Breakfast was a solid “B”. We paid E100 a night through Venere which included breakfast. We could have booked directly for slightly less through the hotel’s website but the breakfasts were more than worth the difference. This hotel was really a steal at this price.

The hotel was chosen to be near the station because of an early start. It is easy walking distance from Milano Centrale. The area is not particularly nice but the hotel was spotless. we were upgraded to a suite with out asking and this was spacious and comfortable. Would recommend and stay there again. The bistro opposite was good food but very expensive wine. We ate very well at lunchtime in the Brera district.

Too high price for such a basic hotel with rooms where the windows don't close (our room as well as our friends'room) and the bathroom needs to be renewed. When you include 'breakfast', any surcharge for eggs (in whatsoever form) and warm dishes should be mentioned beforehand. OK for one night but slight chance I'll go back there.

It was a pleasant surprise to find a nice 4* hotel for that price (90Euros) and it includes a pretty good continental breakfast on the higher floor of the hotel. Location wise, it's close to the main train station. So it's good if you are catching a train or needing to take a shuttle to the airport. It's also close to the metro station, only three stops away from the Duomo, so it's not bad if you plan to be out all day and only come back at night to sleep.

I wasn't expecting to have a suite for the 100euro's a night that we paid, fantastic room, big, clean, robes & slippers. I would definately stay here again

We chose this hotel because it was close to the station. We only planned to stay for 1 day. It was a perfect match. We enjoyed the room. However, we had specified that we are traveling with 2 small children. We agreed on a price for the reservation but when we showed up at the hotel they told us that because of the kids, we had to take a suite. Of course 30 euros more expensive than initially planned. We felt a bit highjacked because they could have communicated this "minor" detail earlier. Then we asked for a second small bed. The staff were not accomodating to our wishes. We will not go back to this hotel again.

Beautiful hotel for the price, fantastic breakfasts and great proximity to the train station as we were travelling to the lakes and verona etc. Also very easy to get around Milan by jumping on the local city train. Not really must around the hotel though shops wise and found Milan hard to get good food although that could have been just because we were used to Rome and Florence being in the centre of the city.

Our room at the Madison was MAGNIFICENT. Because we booked early through Venere we were given a Suite room. Our friends who booked through another company paid more and got a normal room which was not very nice. Everything about our room was excellent. The location is very close to the central train station and to restaurants. Just a hint, if you want your towels changed, you need to leave them on the floor. If you hang them back up they will not change them. Also, if you do not hang your "Maid Service" sign on the door, they will not clean your room. Great if you want to sleep in.

I was put in a new room that smelled of paint,. The cold water was not turned on after they had completed the work so that i was burned when i took my shower. They tried to fix it as fast as they could but it was a very late night with an air flight early the next day. The price of the room was outrageous (300E) because of a conference. The location of the hotel is excellent - a 2 minutes walk from the Stazione Centrale. The hotel itself was clean, the staff polite (given that they're Italians), but the room was extremely small (possibly because I took the cheapest single room in the hotel). They served a simple, but very good breakfast which included croissants, ham, cheese, fruits, juice, and cereals. Their coffee was excellent - you have to ask them to make one of their delicious cappuccinos - you will love it.

My colleague and I had two different single rooms. One rather oldfashioned and nothing special, one stylishly modernized and with a beautiful bathroom. Though not very large, the modern room is certainly value for money with nice marble, lamps, flatscreen, coffee and tea facilities. However, the walls are thin and if you do not wake up yourself early the neighbours will certainly wake you up when they start using the bathroom where you can even hear them using their electric razors.

This is a lovely clean hotel within walking distance to the train sttion. Also it is delightfully quiet, and the breakfast was very good. However the map showing where the hotel is - is so general we could not figure out how to get there. Map needs to include the actual streets that surround the Milano train station. Also a couple of side streets had migrants drinking beer on the side walks in the evenings. One had to walk in the street to get around them.

This is a very good value and is quite easy to find, something that is not always easy in Milan. In fact, all I had was the little schematic map that Venere gives you and that was enough to get there. The room was clean and pretty well-appointed, the staff very friendly and helpful, the breakfast a full continental fairly liberally supplied. It is a five-minute walk from the train station. The one drawback for some would be that the short street it is on is a little sleazy, with people hanging around on the sidewalk in the evening (though not dangerous), and during my stay there on Saturday night there was a club/restaurant across the street where people were talking and hanging out until well past 3 AM. That didn't bother me, and this was a Saturday night so probably that's the worst case, but if you need quiet at night this may not be the place for you. Otherwise I'd definitely recommend it for the price (for me that was 75 Euro) and convenient/easy to find location.

The room was excellent except for the noisy street. The price was good for the quality of the room. The location did not make us feel safe coming back at night - we were actually scared due to the men hanging in the middle of the street. The TV movie didn't work. The people were great & very helpful. Very clean. Close to train station was great...but sacrificed on safety of the street. Might look for a safer location next time.

This hotel is most accommodating for traveling through northern Italy. It is located about one block from the Central Railway Station. One can take the shuttle bus from the airport to Central Station and easily walk to the hotel. Then, one can enter the subway system and go anywhere in Milan in a short amount of time. All of the hotel clerks were both friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is appropriate and clean. Internet is available on a couple of computers in the lobby. All in all, an excellent choice for the reasonable traveler or business client. If possible, try to reserve or ask for a room on the top or 4th floor. These rooms are about 20 euros extra, but are very nice compared to the standard rooms on the lower floors. In particular, the air conditioners are much much better, and the bathrooms are HUGE.

This hotel was a great affordable choice for visiting Milan. First, it is basically one block from the Central Railway Station and subway entry. The breakfast buffet was good, and our room on the 4th floor was excellent. The bathroom was very nice, and the air conditioner worked very well. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again on future trips to Milan.

Breakfast was awesome. Price was very reasonable...least expensive place we stayed while in Europe. Comfortable beds, high ceilings, spacious rooms (enough for two people). Only disappointment was Milan itself. Use this hotel as a focal point for day train trips since it's so close to the central station, and venture outside of the city for real Italian flair. The Lakes region is much nicer than Milan, and only 40 minutes away by train. I would definitely stay at this hotel again if I were ever to return to Milan. Check-in is at noon, so it's a plus when arriving on overnight flights from the States. Also, they let us check in earlier than 12, and allowed us wait in the lobby with our luggage until the rooms were available. Pleasantly surprised by the hotel, food, and staff since the price was so cheap.

We were in Milan for only a day and had to catch a plane the next day. We were looking for a hotel close to Stazione Centrale to make our departure quick and easy. The Madison fit htebill. Very friendly staff. Made dinner reservations for us at Limone, which was a very nice restaurant, althouhg it was about twice as far from the hotel as the "300 meters" the desk clerk described.

A very nice hotel which took us only 2mins to find from the Train Station. Quite a quiet area, although it had very thin windows and one night we got woken up by the binmen at 5:30 in the morning!

Excellent hotel. Convenient to the railway station. The only drawback is the area between the station and the hotel looks a little rundown

The Madison is a very functional business hotel located right by the station. The price is very reasonable and the staff are friaendly and helpful. Being near the station is convenient, but as in many European cities, that area is not the safest or most desirable. With all this frimly in mind, I would not hesitate to recomment this hotel.

This is a very nice hotel and convenient to the railway station. The breakfast they offered was great. However, the people at the desk need some lessons in customer service. We had a problem with our TV--couldn't get CNN or BBC even though they were offered--and the people at the desk acted like it was our fault. They said someone had been messing with the set (we hadn't). We were there three days and it never got fixed. Also, we wanted to use the internet and they charged us 10 Euro for two hours. We thought that was a little steep but it would have been ok except that they failed to tell us that was for two consecutive hours. So we used it for about 15 minutes and when we came back later we couldn't use it. I don't think I'd stay there again. Not user friendly.

We spent only the night before our return trip at Hotel Madison and its location served us well. The room was fully adequate--clean and quiet, and the bathroom was well fitted out. The breakfast buffet was fine except that the coffee was served barely warm.

We were booked from Internet and got upgraded to 5th floor, all renovated. I will stay there again if I can stay at the same floor. Breakfast was great (with cold cut). However, 1st night we were there, my friend got attacked by some black folks, area around the corner was not too nice, so many black ppl hang around making trouble. Overall, great hotel.

At the end of the street that the Madison is in is at least one strip club. After dark this becomes a parking lot for all sorts of people and walking through this area does not feel 'safe'. We overcame this by catching cabs home.

Very close to train station, less than 5 minute walk. Requested quiet room and the hotel gave us a quiet small suite. Good recommendation for dinner close by and the breakfast was good with large selection. We walked to the Duomo which took 20 minutes. Good hotel for 1 night stop over and using the train for travel.

An outstanding hotel within walking distance of the central railroad station and the subway. The staff was extremely helpful in every respect. The room was clean, modern and comfortable. The included breakfast was excellent. We stayed three nights and chose to return for an additional night just prior to our departure from Italy. Highly recommend.
