Hotel Best Western Premier Shaftesbury Kensington - London

It's really hard to review this hotel because we booked 3 rooms there and we arrived at the hotel at 2a.m... we waited sice 4 a.m. when they said they didn't have our rooms...they also offered us something to drink!! so kind! so we moved to another hotel, the park grand in paddington , really nice with smart staff.. we stayed there for a night and the next morning the staff of this hotel told us that we should stay there cause there were no rooms in the first hotel.. so I really can't review this hotel, I can only say...don't go there!!

When I booked my room on-line, I noted that, due to personal reasons, I might come alone even though I booked a double room. At this case I would be grateful if the price of my room could be reduced. Finally I stayed alone at the hotel and when I arrived and I mentioned to the reception desk my notice on the booking form, nobody has seemed to know or to care about it at any sense...and till my check-out they have never did.

Staff have an issue with eye contact, very abrubt, and have what i worked out to be a scheme to hit visitors for more money,, or so it seemed,,, when you check in, they ask if you would like to pre order breakfast, at a discounted rate of 11 pounds, I did, when I checked out, they said i ahd to pay for it at check in to get the discounted rate and charged me 15 pounds, very very deceitful, will not be stayoing here again

This hotel is located a few minutes-walking distance away from the underground station 'Earl's Court' and it's so easy to find the way to the hotel after getting out from underground. The room is very small but equipped with all necessities as described. Services were efficient.

I was in London on a 3 day course. As I was shunted off originally to the basement of an annexe of the hotel I cannot consider that I ever stayed in the Best Western Premier Shaftesbury! Considering the money I paid - it was poor.

Very small room with only 6 inches between the side of the bed and the wardrobe and bruises to prove it! Hardly any space to put suitcases down. The staff were helpful but we did get the surprise of paying £20 upfront for room extras. It is more usual yo pay for these on checkout. A good location however with many amenities in the local high street and very close to Earl's Court Tube Station.

I am mexican and I found this hotel very nice and very good in al the services, inluding a Metro station near.

One of the best Hotels I've never stayed at London taking into acount the low quality of them.

The room are more or less as in the website but much little. There wasn´t space enaugh to pass between the window and the bed. The room were i stayed was very noisy because every day about 7 o´clock the engine of a machine started to make noise and about 8 o´clock a guy cutting slates started working so get sleep after 7 o´clock was imposible.

Excellent hotel for a central base to the centre of London, facilities and accommodation first class at a very reasonable price, especially if you get a good deal. Very recommended.

The room given was not in the main building had to walk to it and downstair in. Did not have any minibar.

Single rooms are dark (no window), but well-appointed, and go for an appropriate price. Cheery staff.

Rooms are actually much better than the ones shown in the photos. It's not one mille away from harrods, though well comunicated anyway.

The hotel was very clean and the service very good. The room was a bit small but with a large tv screen. Very good value and I would definitively reccomend it.

The room was hot in the summer, but they do have fans available if you ask. It is a decent hotel in a central area, very close to two underground stations.

Stayed for only one night. Great location in London. Room was ideal, staff were nice and a great price of £40.00 for a night. Its not a four star but was very clean, modern and met all my needs. The bed was comfy, t.v. in room. Also had tea and coffee facilities in the room. I would use it again if the price were right. Hotel has a North African/Moroccan theme, which was a nice change.

Sehr nettes hotel, in der 1. Zone, extrem gut gelegen!!! Sehr nette und für Englad sehr große Zimmer, Bügeleisen, Haarföhn, Wasserkocher + Tee, Kaffee, Zucker etc. Badezimmer... na ja das war ein älteres Model und schon etwas abgenutzt aber sehr sauber! Sainbury's ist gleich um die Ecke, Pubs, REstaurants und KFC sowie McDonalds. U-Bahn Station ist in 2 min. zu Fuß zu erreichen!

Great location! Not a luxury hotel by any means but for the price we thought it was fine. Would stay there again. Breakfast was a little pricey but we found more reasonable places to eat nearby.

An excellent, low cost alternative in London. The location is very quiet, though still only a 3-4 minute walk to Earls Court tube station. The room was large, very quiet, in fact well above what I expected (though in London, expectations are...well....). No breakfast included, and when having the options of english or continental breakfast, we opted for Starbucks and their competitors in Earl Court road.

The lobby of the Hogarth is quite nice. However, once we reached our floor, the appearance changes completely. Dark and dingy looking, not very reassuring. The room itself was more of the same - the overhead light was provided by a fluorescent bulb, and all the furnishings and bedding looked old and worn. The bathroom was not well-kept. It was clean enough, but the floor looked like it hadn't been swept in a few days, and the whole room had a "seen better days" air to it. All in all, I didn't feel like it was actually dirty, but I didn't feel comfortable either. I wouldn't stay here again.

We requested a non smoking room, arrived room we have been given was a smoking, no more double rooms available so were given a twin. Carpets throughout the hotel were threadbare and the staff were really rude and unhelpful. I would never every stay at the Hogarth again. People were walking out of the hotel before me because the staff were so unhelpful and slow.

Camere grandi e pulite, la zona è molto carina piena di pub e negozi e soprattutto molto vicina alla metro. Decisamente consigliato. Attenti perè nel prezzo non è compresa la colazione!

Our request for early check in was denied, however the hotel offered to hold our bags for us. When we returned at 2pm to check in, we were not given the type of room we reserved online. We had to again request a double bed. The room was in fine condition. There was no alarm clock and our requests for wake-up calls were not always met. The bed and pillows were extremely uncomfortable. The bed was so old we could feel the springs and buttons in it. Our bed made everyday by housekeeping, but sometimes with our dirty clothes made into the bed. We will not be returning to the Hogarth.

Good, functional hotel in the heart of London. Room extremely good, very clean and spacious. Welcoming staff. Communal areas non existent - taken by onsite Arabic restaurant. Breakfast pricey - £13 a couple (McDonalds & range of cafes are two minutes away on Earls Court Rd).

The hotel was very clean and the staff where polite. However, we were not told about check-in or check-out times on the website and were quite shocked when we found out we could not check in till 2 o'clock in the afternoon.

Room on the 5th floor are very loud. Because you can hear the aircondtion-motor!? behind the wall and the bed gets vibration from this motor. But next day we could change the room.

We were happy of our stay at the Hogarth, as everything was almost exactly as we thought it would be after reading about it on venere.com. The staff was very nice, the metro 2 mn away, and the bedrooms calm. The decoration of the bedrooms is a bit old fashioned (british like) but it was a very good price/quality rate.

Für einen Kurzurlaub in London genau das Richtige. Die Underground ist 2-3 Minuten entfernt, auch die Busstationen. In ca. 15 Minuten ist man im Zentrum Westminster. South-Kensinton ist ein nobler Stadtteil, ein Spaziergang lohnt sich jedenfalls. Das Personal im Hotel ist fast ausschließlich indischer oder arabischer Abstammung, Englisch-Sprechen zählt nicht unbedingt zu den Stärken des Personals. Auf jeden Fall kann ich dieses Hotel mit besten Gewissen weiterempfehlen!

Everything was ok and quite nice. Booking via Venere was easy, we will do it again next time.

Eingangshalle und Frühstücksraum war zu unserer Zeit eine Baustelle. Auf die Bauarbeiten wurde bei Buchung nirgends hingewiesen. Preis war deswegen für diesen Zeitraum zu hoch. Frühstück wurde in einem kleinen Raum serviert und war nicht gerade üppig. Käse wurde lediglich verpackt angeboten, Wurst gab es zum Frühstück garnicht. Mitarbeiter des Hotel konnten keine internationalen Sprachen, teilweise nicht mal richtig in Englisch ausdrücken. Kartenlese-Gerät für Bezahlung funktionierte nicht, daraufhin entstanden Gebühren für Bankautomat in Höhe von 8 Euro...

Excellent accomodation and pleasant service

Although the rooms at the Hogarth were somewhat worn out, they were quite spacious by European standards. There was an Underground station about 1 block away which was very convenient and although not on the quiet street they advertised, if you sleep with the windows closed and ask for a fan, it was comfortable enough. I would recommend to any one travelling on a budget, although this 3* hotel was not cheap.

Very nice hotel in a quiet street in Kensington, near to Earls Court tube station. Spacious rooms, very cleen, but warm in summer. Public spaces somewhat neglected. Excellent vallue.
