Hotel Regina Palace Terme - Ischia

My mother and I stayed in a small room with two beds, but the beds were so close together. I asked the maid about the bigger room below ours with the large terrace but she said it was unavailable, though it seemed unoccupied at the time. There was but one thin pillow each. And no spares in the closet. The shower stall was miniscule. On another occasion I waited at the desk to ask a question, and the female employee ignored me and walked off to a more important matter. Luckily my mother who is italian said something out loud which I hope she heard. There is one male employee at the desk with glasses who I have to say is nice and welcoming. Lastly, the breakfast was much better two years ago, and seemed skimpier this time around (maybe because we were travelling off season?). I have been to Ischia many times and was at this particular hotel two years ago. I sadly won't come back to this hotel.

Nice hotel, reasonable rate and professional staff.

It was the first time when I have met a hotel in Italy which is so convenient and excellent for a heterosexual couple with a child. What was offered via the Internet that was met in the reality as well. I would like to suggest this property honestly to other tourists and simply visitors of the island at any time.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It is very conveniently situated although a steep walk from the hydrofoil on a hot day. We returned to the ferry by taxi (10 euros for about 1.5 miles but it was worth it). Dinner menu had little poultry and veal was the main meat course but otherwise excellent. Would gladly return but instead of staying half board would probably eat out in the evenings. Lots of bites from invisible insects on island!

THIS HOTEL IS LOCATED IN A GREAT AREA. BUT IT DOES NOT HAVE THAT MUCH TO OFFER. NO CHILD POOL AND GYM, SMALL ROOMS, OLD BATHROOMS. YOU CAN STAY AT A NICER PLACE IN OTHER AREAS IN ISHCIA FOR LESS MONEY

This property caters to German tourists and some Italians. Very little English is spoken. Franco, who handled our check-in and was working the front desk most of the time, was extremely rude and unhelpful. When my daughter, who speaks fluent Italian, would try to speak to him in Italian, he only answered in his limited English. When we asked questions, he was absolutely rude to us. I can only assume this property does not like American tourists. Also, we had reserved 2 double rooms, to be situated near each other, 2 months ahead of time. We were given one room on the far end of the ground floor right by the pool and the other room on the second floor on the opposite side of the complex. The first floor room had an ant problem. They would spray some odiferous chemicals, but could not move us. However, the breakfast buffet and lunch are excellent, as are the waiters and maid staff. The spa leaves a lot to be desired, but there are many other spa choices on the island. The location is very good - convenient to many restaurants and shopping. This property, however, is in great need of updating in decor and furnishings. It is reminiscent of the early 1980's. But,the grounds are very nice and quiet. I WOULD NOT recommend this property to any Americans.

We only stayed for 1 night so therefore the hotel was adequate, although doesn't really deserve a 4 star rating.
