Piazza Delle Fontane Marose - Genoa
877-662-6988Best Western Metropoli is facing one of the most fascinating squares of Genoa and is surrounded by ancient buildings from the XVI Century. The Carlo Felice Opera House and Palazzo Ducale are just around the corner, as are the characteristic antique shops. The the famous Aquarium of Genoa is also only a few minutes walk away, and you will pass through many carrugi, or passageways, of the old town on your way there.
The welcoming hall of the hotel Best Western Metropoli is divided into elegant and cosy lounge areas, with numerous works of art by contemporary artists and with soft light and gentle music playing in the background, the ideal place to unwind with your favourite drink or a glass of wine after a hard day’s work or a long day visiting Genoa.
Best Western Metropoli offers free Wi-Fi Internet access in the hall and in the rooms, ideal for travellers with their own notebook; otherwise, an Internet corner is available in the lobby.

We had a great view of the piazza from our room. How exciting to watch a small parade of performers related to a Swan Lake presentation go by with the music from the ballet playing. Great tratorias and pizzerias near by as will as walking distance to the shopping areas. Parking is a 5 minute walk at 20 euro per 24-hours.

We visited Genoa to meet friends living there. We did the same thing 2 years ago and thought we had booked the other Best Western property, in Genoa, we used previously. Having realised our mistake when our host took us there, we were very pleasantly surprised. Our host assured us that his in-laws use the Metropoli when visiting from the UK. Whilst there was some noise from adjacent rooms, our experience this time tells us we prefer this property over the other one. Very helpful and friendly receptionist.

The hotel is nicely located in the center of the city. The facility is refurbished and adequate, rooms are small (as in old buildings) but nice. The front side is on a very noisy square, but I asked to change with a room on the back and the staff was quite helpful and accomodating. The fast and free internet WiFi is a plus for business travelers.

We were very happy with our stay at Best Western Metropoli, room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Was pleased as the sofa bed for the children converted to a bunk and was comfortable. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Location was good with nice restaurants close. Breakfast was excellent with a lovely selection to choose from. Great value for money.

We stayed just one night. the hotel is on the edge of the old town and safe to walk back to at night. some areas down by the port were intimidating at dusk when groups of young men were hanging around. wouldnt want to wander through small streets at this time near port. hotel close to bars. room had akettle unusaul for italy. cofee at breakfast disapointing ask for a speciality coffe to be made for you otherwise you will be disapointed. hotel what you would expect for Best western. would recomend value for money (prebooked) suprised duvet cover not present just sheet ove and above.

Hotel is excellently situated on edge of the Centro Storico and close to Via Garabaldi, with its famous Palazzi, and is also close to the more modern Piazza de Ferrari, the centre of the modern city. Room was fairly small, but comfortable, and breakfast was substantial. Staff were very helpful. There is a free Wi-Fi link with very good reception. The only reservation was that there was a fair amount of traffic noise from the Piazza Fontana Marose onto which the hotel faces.

One of the best price/quality-ratios ever! Extremely clean, quiet and friendly. Good air conditioning, which is good to have if you visit Genoa during the summer months. And the location: perfectly between the wonderful old town and the amazing Via Garibaldi with its famous palaces.

I stayed at the Best Western for only one night while en route between Stelvio and Cinqueterre. The location was very convenient, around the corner from Via Garbaldi and it's procession of palaces. The highlight of this hotel is the staff. Always available, always friendly and always willing to help, their service shines. They got a well deserved rating of 10. The hotel is located in a historical building which shows some shortcomings: rooms are small (mine was tiny) and the accesses in general are not very friendly (too many stairs and narrow corridors). Overall I would rate my stay at 8.

Exquisite-the interior decoration of every room in this hotel is in the best taste and faultless. Value for money is excellent. The staff provided a professional, pro-active and friendly service, prepared to go out of their way to assist, even volunteering an espresso with fresh pastries mid-afternoon-see if you can get Claudio to attend as barista. Breakfast was included and it was sumptous-we did not want to leave by mid-morning. The 10 minute walk from the rail station takes you through the best sights of Genoa which you will retrace during your stay there. Free computer access, plasma TV, luxury bathroom, quiet, central-you won't find better in Italy.

In February this year I spent a few days at this hotel with my family. Even though we arrived pretty late, they gave us a warm welcome. The room was spacious enough, the beds and bathroom were extremely clean. The location of the hotel is at an excellent place, and we could walk to any part of the town in very short period of time. Hotel breakfast was very decent, and what prompted us to choose this hotel and to spend time in it was the price which is in accordance with what the hotel offers, because this hotel is not luxurious. In any case, we are more than satisfied and if we visit Genoa again, we would definitely stay in this hotel. Note that this hotel is not for elder guests because there are steep stairs on the way to the reception. Dubravka Stojkovic

When I stay in Genoa it is for work. This hotel is 460 paces from the office yet there are other hotels even closer and higher star rating. None of those hotels offer the same care and interest about me as an individual guest. I was asked three time if everything was OK and greeted with a smile every single time I encountered someone. Breakfast buffet was more than adequate. Location is fabulous. I opted for a larger room and thibnk the space to price ratio is well worth it. I shall stay there in future as well.

We booked for a superior room. I am not sure that is waht we got. Room not all that large and view from window was of a back alley. However the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room had been changed because we arrived early although they did not admit to downgrading of the room this I suspect is what happpented to allow us early access to a room - we were happy to leave our bags and go off for the day. Site very central and attractive hotel.

Exactly what you expect from a Best Western, very nice inside, clean and pleasant. The room was spacious and the breakfast was good. The location is all right, if you plan to take your car to go downtown... as the hotel surroundings is not pretty at all. But convenient.

Hotel is locate close to the old town center. While this makes it a very good base for exploring the surroundings by foot, the problem is they do not have any parking at the hotel -- one is forced to make short but winding trip to a (public) parking garage. Rooms were very spacious, clean, attentive and quite service. I would definitively recommend it if traveling to Genova for business, less so if arriving by car for leisure.

Hotel is close to the antica part of town, and about 15 minutes walk to the Porto Antica and the Genoa Acquario. THe service is very good, and the rooms are new and clean. Unfortunately the time we were there, the hotel suffered 2 blackouts, one of which I had to carry my sleeping 5-yo up 6 flights of steps. We also asked for the ac to be turned on when we got to the hotel, and after our evening walk it was done. Breakfast was amazing with a very good selection of meats, breads, cereals and sweets.

THe 'superior' single room was a reasonable size though with a view onto an alley. The bathroom was lovely and spacious. The choice and quality at breakfast was excellent too. The majority of the staff were very nice and extremely helpful. My only criticism is that the guy who was on the desk in the evening seemed always to close the bar earlier than the advertised time but there are places to have a drink close by so it didn't affect our holiday. Also, it's worth noting that there is a short flight of stairs to get into the hotel reception and there were a few stairs to get to my room on the third floor so there could be an issue with this hotel for wheelchair users etc.

The location is outstanding for access to all the major sites one might want to visit. Also located just down the street from two major shopping areas. We found two excellent restaurants. One is located in the Galleria which is just a short walk from the hotel. It is called Europa--excellent food and service. Le Rune is around the corner, half way up the street. Also excellent food and service. The 'old city' is delightful to wander around and again, the hotel is located just around the corner from one of the main 'alleys' of the old town. Good, safe location. Internet available with printer. Very good, extensive breakfast offered. Would stay here again.

The hotel was a fantastic stay.A modern and clean building with spacious rooms and bathrooms. Breakfast was abundant and varied. The hotel is situated in a beautiful and very central part of town. Just minutes away from Via Garibaldi which has recently been inserted in the UNESCO world heritage list, well worth an after dinner stroll , as the architectural charactictics of the palazzi, well lit up by night, are a magnificent experience. The port and of course the aquarium are a 10 minute walk from the hotel. From the port area, you can take a little train like mobile which for 6Eu shows you around town, taking in a beautiul panoramic view of the city while lisening to some clasic italian pieces. well worth the tour.
