Best Western City Hotel - Genoa

We were very lucky to be upgraded from the family room to a top floor suite, which obviously negates the usefulness of rating the family room. Still, if you have the means, enquire about the top floor suite. Magnificent views of the city rooftops and the harbour. Still, we will return to this hotel booking the family room, as the location and surroundings are as good as it gets for touring the old part of the city. All within walking distance.

Excellent value for money. Strategic location not too far from old city and Acquarium. Private garage upon booking. Cost 24€, a bit expensive but highly recommended because it's hard finding a park in Genova. I'll surely return there.

Great hotel in central part of city. Close to Opera House, Galleria, and public transit. Very quiet area. Breakfast was very good.

The hotel is well situated in the middle of the city with easy walking access to all points of interest. It would ideally suit those on a week end break. The staff were friendly and very helpful.

If you are looking for the best quality-to-price ratio just at Genova city center, this is your hotel! Spacious room with gadgets such as Philips alarm clock system (including bird singings!), king-sized bath tube, slippers, bath robes,... and many more. All at a few meters from P. Di Ferrari. I was before in Genova but I was not aware of this hotel. I strongly recommend it whether you go with your partner (as I did), or with kids or in a bussiness travel.

The room was clean and comfortable, with a large TV and a coffee maker. But the bank bed was too old and dangerous. Breakfast was good.

Excellent location of room at back. Tea making facilities a major advantage. Free wifi welcome and really is a modern necesscity.

We stayed there twice. First stay very small room and bathroom (dump smelling)for 144,00 €, second stay was better larger room and bathroom (was ok) for 20,00 € more. Breakfast Buffet ok, good variety, location very good.

This is a good hotel, centrally located in a good quarter within easy 10 minutes walk from the harbour area. It´s a little tricky to access the hotel by a car because of the many pedestrian and one-way streets in Genova. The main access to the hotel is from Via Roma, which is one-way in direction up from the sea. Turn left into the first narrow alley (ViaSan Sebastiano) about 20 metres from the lower end of Via Roma. Access to Via Roma itself is either from north-west by driving down Via XXX Aprile and then turn sharply to the left and up Via Roma in front of the big theatre, or preferably from eastern directions driving across Piazza De Ferrari (with the big fountain) and turning right and passing in the front of the theatre, up Via Roma. Hotel garage in the next building, the hotel porter very helpful. Very nice people at the reception.

I stayed in a twinn room. Everything was of good to very good standard. The only comment concerns the space that was rathger limited. General impression very good.

Ottimo hotel in ottima posizione.

Our stay was fine. However, it did take several requests by ourselves and other guests to have the air-conditioning turned on. It was very, very hot, but the staff originally said that the AC couldn't be turned on. After several guests complained, it was. Otherwise, it was a good hotel.

Nous avions séjourné en 2004 au Best Western City à Gênes. La qualité du service, le confort de la chambre et la propreté de cet établissement nous a incité a réserver pour 2006. Mais, nous avons constaté une sérieuse dégradation globale des prestations : accueil, propreté de la salle de bain, nuisances sonores, qui n'a pas semblé émouvoir le personnel. Par contre, le petit déjeuner reste de bonne qualité avec un service avenant. Si le Best Western City Hotel souhaitait être rétrogradé à 3 étoiles, il ne s'y prendrait pas autrement !!!..

We enjoyed our vacation in Genoa and our stay in the Best Western City Hotel. Most of the attractions (Waterfront, Acquarium, Città dei bambini, Galata Museum, the ancient quarter with the Cathedral and the tightened alleys, the musei di strada nuova, ...)are within walking distance, ideal for a family with a son aged 10.

L'hotel è situato in posizione ottimale per una visita del centro di Genova, a pochi passi sia dal centro storico sia di quello commerciale. Le indicazioni per raggiungere l'hotel dalle grandi strade di accesso sono discrete. Il garage dell'hotel è comodo con prezzi in linea con i parcheggi pubblici. Le stanze sono pulite e confortevoli. Lo spazio della tripla è sufficiente.

Impossibile parcheggiare vicino se non nel loro garage, ok sono in pieno centro ma 24€ al giorno...

Giudizio sicuramente positivo. L'hotel si è rivelato superiore alle mie aspettative. E' in posizione centralissima per cui pensavo di non riuscire a raggiungerlo facilmente ma seguendo le ottime indicazioni del personale sono arrivato senza alcun problema. La camera era spaziosa e molto curata soprattutto per quanto riguarda la pulizia ed alcune attenzioni come il bollitore e la possibilità di scegliere tra 2 diversi cuscini. Mi è piaciuta la prima colazione servita in un ambiente tipo cucina di casa con una buona ed abbondante scelta di prodotti

We booked a triple and were given a double with a third bed added on the fly. The shower did not function properly, breakfast was very limited, some items (prosciutto, eggs, etc.) had to be paid extra. It could have been acceptable (barely) for a three star, not for a four star hotel.

Very difficult to find. No apparent direct access by car.

Das Best Western City Hotel in Genua können wir nur jedem empfehlen. Nach einer anstrengenden Fahrt aus den Abruzzen kamen wir mit unserem Hund dort an und wurden aufs wärmste empfangen. Das gesamte Personal war sehr, sehr freundlich. Das Zimmer war in einem ausgezeichneten Zustand, sehr großes Badezimmer. Die Bedienung beim Frühstück war äußerst zuvorkommend. Alle waren sehr hundefreundlich. Alles in allem vorbehaltlos zu empfehlen.

Angenehmes Hotel in zentraler Lage, trotzdem ruhig. Personal sehr hilfsbereit und kompetent. Frühstück sehr gut. Parken in Garage Euro 22.-.

Je suis très satisfait de notre séjour à cet hôtel. Bon service, bien situé, déjeuner complet, stationnement fourni mais non inclus, mais vous n'avez pas à chercher pour ceci est un avantage dans le traffic de Gênes. Gênes est une ville très intéressante et très pratique puisque des croisières pour plusieurs destinations partent de Gênes (Cinq Terre, Portofino, autres). Il est possible également de prendre le train pour Portofino et les Cinq Terre. PS: vous DEVEZ aller à Portofino si vous visitez la Ligurie.

Amazing location, right in the middle of it all. On a quiet little side street, close to amazing shopping and all the sites in Genoa.

This hotel was very nice in a good part of town. Our room was very comfortable and the bathroom exceptionally clean and large. The hotel was easy to find if you follow the street signs to it. Just know that it is on a street more like an alley in width but not is the view. The price was steep in my opinion but we certainly were not disappointed with anything. I guess you really do get what you pay for.

Excellent hotel. Stayed with family. Thought the room was one large room with four beds as in the description but was two adjoining rooms which was far better. We only stayed for one night but would use the hotel again as very central. It was a little hard to find from the details. I would recommend arriving for breakfast as early as possible as we arrived about forty minutes from the end as did all the other guests and it was chaos. However good choice of hotel and worth paying approx 22 euros for parking under hotel as does not seem to be anywhere else to park.

The room was clean and quite nice, the patio and view of Genoa was very good. However, the lift was very small and not suitable for a family with luggage. There was no restaurant facilities because most of the staff were on holidays.

The hotel was very centrally located, but difficult to find by car. We were shocked to be charged 22euros per day for parking! Also, we had not been advised that the restaurant would be closed throughout our stay and there was a lack of suitable restaurants nearby. A further blow was an additional charge of 3euros per glass for fruit juice with breakfast!

Very good all by Sunday?

Just passing through Genoa and randomly picked this property. It was a nice hotel in a nice section of town. Good for tourists or families. The Piazza Ferrari is a nice spot to hang out at night and the street leading into the square has a lot of shopping and a movie theatre.

Everything perfect, we really enjoyed our stay at your hotel. We are going to recommend it to our friends when visiting Genova. Thank you for your kindness!!!

Gut gelegen, nur wenige Schritte zur Altstadt und Zentrum, in einer relativ ruhigen Seitenstraße im ansonsten sehr lauten Genua. Internationales Publikum. Sauberes, gut eingerichtetes Zimmer (ohne Tageslicht, bedingt durch Aussicht auf enge Seitenstraße), gut ausgestattetes Badezimmer. Unangenehm: Unser Zimmer war vom Nachbarzimmer lediglich durch eine normale Zimmertür ohne Geräuschdämmung getrennt, so dass die Geräusche von dort sehr laut zu hören waren (selbst die Reißverschlüsse an Gepäck und Kleidung übertrugen sich vortrefflich!) Für eine Übernachtung, um z.B. ein Kreuzfahrtschiff zu erreichen, in Ordnung, aber für einen mehrtägigen „Ferien“-Aufenthalt unmöglich! Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis jedoch insgesamt o.k. Nettes Restaurant „Le Rune“ mit freundlichem jungem Bedienungspersonal; gute Karte und gute Weine. Wir würden das City Hotel wieder wählen, jedoch für längeren Aufenthalt ggf. eine andere Preiskategorie Well situated, directly in the city, but in a quiet side street. International customers. Clean and well furnished room (nearly without daylight), well equipped bathroom. Unpleasant: Our room was separated to the next one only by a normal wooden door, so that it was VERY noisy (we even could hear the zip ups of clothes and luggage from our neighbours). This is not comfortable for a holiday stay of one week or more. Nice Restaurant “Le Rune” with friendly young service people, fine food and good wines.

Everything was good in our stay at the Hotel City. Only the daily price of the garage (21 Euro) seemed to me rather high.

The rooms were more spacious than I expected. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location is great and the restaurant recommendations (all nearby) were great. We arrived close to midnight and it was nice to find that the additional bed for our child had been made up so he could go directly to bed.

Restaurant was excellent, both in food and service.

The hotel was well situated and offered good value accomodation.Our room howver was on the side of the building that offered no view other than into an appartment block literally only a few feet away.Noise was a problem from this and I would have preferred to have had the opportunity of paying more for a better located room, either front or back.The restaurant which we used served an excellent dinner, with first class service.I did think that it was rather penny pinching, however, to be charged extra when I requested a fried egg for breakfast.
