Very well situated in the very heart of Bayonne, in the French Basque country, Best Western Grand Hotel is within walking distance of all majors monuments and tourist sites of Bayonne, such as the Château-Vieux, the Cathedral Sainte-Marie and the former city fortifications, but also the Musée Bonnat Museum of paintings or local historic Musée Basque museum.
The room was not as shown in photographs and could at best be described as "sixties chic". Do not let agree to occupy Room 421 as it is adjacent to the lift machiner...

The room was not as shown in photographs and could at best be described as "sixties chic". Do not let agree to occupy Room 421 as it is adjacent to the lift machinery. The lift is a delightful piece of ancient industrial art but is consequently very noisy. Sleep was difficult with all of the squeaks and rattles from the lift. Bayonne is a wonderful place to visit but I would try to stay somewhere else unless I could be assured of a better room.

PROS (MAJOR): Helpful and intelligent staff, nice place, old style "rétro" atmosphere, very close to city centre and restaurants, very close to public parking (place De Gaulle) CONS (MINOR): only one electric outlet in the room, unconveniently located in a corner under a table. Hope they might add some extra ones, today we all travel with many electric items (cell phones, navigators, etc)

Nice hotel, huge rooms, huge bathrooms, internet ok free of charge, parking 13E two blocks from hotel. Buffet breakfast includes juices, eggs, several kind of bread, cornflakes, milk, coffee, chocolate, etc.for 13 euros(good value).

Very convenient for all local facilities, but a little noisy early in the morning if your room is at the front of the hotel.Good choice for breakfast.

Hotel is beautiful, in the center of bayonne and just few steps from the pedestrian area of the town and plenty of public parking places are available just around the corner. room was very clean and with powerful air-cond system, but sooooooo small (bathroom was not more than 4sqm and to enter you've to open a sliding mirror, 30cm from the bed). tv is "old style" crt, on the wall and no refrigerator in the room. bus station is 200m far away and plenty of busses go directly to biarritz beaches. great place to spend a weekend or few days, due to its price/quality ratio!

Probably the best place to stay in the French basque country. Excellent location in the heart of Bayonne. Good accessibilities elsewhere. The garage fee is overpriced though, there is cheaper parking in the vicinity.

Best Western Grand Hotel features 57 cosy guest rooms and suites, all accessible by the mean of the beautiful vintage lift/elevator, divided on the 3 floors of a historic, charming 1835 building.Renovated in 2010, the rooms include a slightly retro fashion décor and all the modern comfort you can expect, such as individually controlled air conditioning, satellite TV, free wireless Internet access and direct phone line. Most rooms also include a mini bar.
The accommodations range from 12 to 25 square meters in size (129 to 269 square feet), and can host from 1 to 3 people. All the rooms come with a private bathroom with bathtub or shower, and a hair-dryer.
On request, hotel staff will provide for a baby cot or ironing facilities (without additional charge).
