Room was very-very small for £175 price ( no breakfast) Room 118 had a corner bed, meaning my partner had to jump across to get to his side of the bed. There was no wardrobe or a place to put the suitcase because the room was far too small for that. Noise from fan or air con from the kitchen coming from outside. When I went to ask for a better room (we just asked for a room with at least an access to both sides of the bed) the gentleman at the reception showed me one that was smelly and tired deco....so we stayed in the clean one....)On the good side our room was very clean and materass was comfortable.

Lift being loudly repaired. Workmen working above and beside. No writing paper in room. Room was awful. It had no storage, one small drawer and a little hanging space. I ended up living out of my suitcase, might as well have been in a hostel. The window had strange frosting, a map of Bath, I thought it was odd as most people like to look out of the window. When I looked out of the window I saw why it was covered, the outlook was a very dirty wall about fifteen feet away surrounding a very pokey small courtyard which was used to store rubbish. The windowsill had a row of lethal spikes about 10cms long to deter the pigeons from sitting on the sill. During the night it was impossible to sleep as there was frequent rattling and clattering from the kitchen which is only fifteen feet away on the other side of the courtyard. An extractor fan/ ventilation machine buzzed and hummed for most of the night and the pigeons, denied a perch on the windowsill just moved a bit along and billed, cooed and fought all night.Very unpleasant two nights. I spoke to the staff on my departure, she did not seem a bit suprised by my complaint and said that I should have asked to be moved.I just wondered why anyone would be put into this awful room. In my 60 years of travel I have never spent a night in a room with as miserable an outlook. She did say that I could be offered a lunch, knowing that I was leaving that morning. a most unsatisfactory visit the your hotel.

We were allocated the Auckland room on the ground floor beside the hotel entrance. Lovely room but SO noisy. Would not stay in that room again. Bath is a gorgeous city with plenty to do.
