Hotel Reviews Le Lavarin (Best Western)

My daughter and I enjoyed our stay at this hotel very much. The staff are particularly helpful and friendly and we loved the gardens and pool as well as the outside setting for meals. We travelled without a car but found it very easy to get into Avignon centre by bus from outside the hotel. Just one thing - we would have liked larger cups for tea than those provided in our room (tiny and plastic so not suitable for tea). We would definitely recommend Le Lavarin.

We were a group of four couples at the start of a cycle tour and required a hotel where we could park our cars for a week and return to the same hotel a week later. Things turned out well and we found in Mr Reboulet, a very helpful manager. The pool was a delight and the receptionist, on our arrival at the beginning and end of our tour, was quick to quench our thirst! The rooms were nice and the air-conditioning a blessing. As with most of the hotels we stayed at, we disliked the carpet flooring. You're never sure what the feet were like which walked there last.

The property is located about 40 minutes walk away from the town centre. Buses are very infrequent and taxis are also difficult to obtain from the town at night time. The hotel is fairly basic but the staff are very friendly and hepful and we found our room to be very clean.

Good hotel with good service. Thankyou. Only real problem was insufficient space for two cases in the room. Also if possible more English speaking channels on TV would be good.

the hotel is about 2,5 km alone from the city center and there isn't bus near. you need the car. The parking is free Albergo carino silenzioso ma un po fuori portata. L'auto è d'obbligo visto che la zona è fuori e priva di servizi 2,5 km dal centro. Era pulito e il parcheggio è gratuito

A nice and quiet hotel, just outside of the walled city of Avignon. Enlish speaking receptionists were very helpful in giving us driving directions all over Provence. They have their own garden-type restaurant with excellent food. We ate dinner there the first night, and it was lovely. We also had breakfast there for the 3 days we stayed. Price for breakfast very reasonable, 8 euros. The only problem was that the A/C in our room was not very effecient, and it was warm at night. We opened a window, and that seemed to help. I would definitely stay there again.

Overall a good stay. I think the service at the reception could be more welcoming och gentle. Guests from the anglo-saxon and the nordic countries expect also a smile sometimes.

We were disappointed that although being a 3* hotel, the restaurant was only open 4 days out of 7 and on one of those days the only main meal being offered was fish. We arrived at 7 pm on Saturday after a 10 hr journey to be told that it would be necessary to travel to the city for a meal, the city being 5 km away. However, the receptionist took pity on us and provided us with a salad in our room which was a problem to my husband as he is not permitted to eat salad. Receptionists also served evening meals when available and dealt with the bar also. One did not know how to make drinks, the request being 'Vodka & Orange'. The rooms did not offer tea and coffee making facilities, although we were able to get a kettle from reception. The room was clean though and the bed comfortable. On the plus side, we discovered the bus stop close to the hotel and very reliable, easy to use buses and Avignon was beautiful.

The pool definitely isn't as big as it seems on the photo and the water is freezing-cold. The garden isn't very inviting. The rooms are nice and clean and the meals okay, though a little expensive - we didn't have breakfast there. The hotel is a little too far away from the center of Avignon - too far to walk, taking the bus is annoying.

At 14.45 the room was not ready and the maid prepared it very quickly, leaving the beds not well prepared. There was no lift. No one offered to help us. Toilet paper was scarce.

WHen we arrived at our room it was obvious that the sliding door to the balcomy had been tampered with --a break in; the door would not lock. The staff tried to repair it but we were not able to sleep or feel safe -- we overlooked a dark, unlit area, a fence next to a low income neighborhood; we did not feel safe and left the hotel.

The reception staff were quiet rude. We stayed in the hotel for an extra, but they were quiet reluctant to reduce the rate.

We liked the hotel itself, however we were disappointed with the location. It wasn't in a very nice neighborhood. We were disappointed that we weren't inside the old city of Avignon.

Should not be a 3-star hotel. They seemed to be on holiday at the time, and service was minimal. Far from restaurants, stores or the city, and only one choice from the lengthy menu available our single night in this hotel. Think Monty Python's cheese shoppe. We couldn't get out fast enough.
