Good hotel in a very bad neighborhood. If you tend to feel unsafe in shady neighborhoods, you won't like it, but I had no problems. Close to public transport and major sights. Good free wireless. Problems with electricity in some rooms, though.

We were so scared when we arrived at the hotel!! We could not believe how an area so close to the city center was so scary: trafficants, prostitutes, etc. at the street of the hotel made us feel unsecure. Then we met the receptionist (I think his name was Divilios or something like that), who was so helpful and kind, that all the first bad impressions of the city disappeared. Thank you! The room was ok, but the bathroom was TINY. Although the room was quite clean when we arrived, they don't clean the bathroom everyday. Cleanness should be improved. Breakfast was included and I give it a "5". I didn't see any kettle or free orange juice any day of our stay (as Venere said). I appreciate the different type of pillows offered and the indications of how to get to the hotel offered by the hotel itself.

Hotel con un buon rapporto qualità prezzo...Personale accogliente e preparato.. camere pulite ma un po piccole...Non troppo buono l'ambiente circostante anche se non abbiamo avuto problemi...Consigliabile...

CONS: The hotel was OK for the price we paid, but the room was noisy (first floor facing the road) and small. The worst thing is probably the hotel surroundings which are dirty and do not seem very safe at night if you are by yourself. On the other hand, there where hotels all around, so I suppose it is not as dangerous as it appeared. PROS: it is not to far from the metro (7-10min walk) and the hotel staff was nice.

Nice and comfortable, clean and close to every significant place in Athens. Taxy is cheap and the fastest way to move in town. To go from Zinon to gazi, where the best life is, it costs max 5 euro (on saturday night in a traffic jam). A must-see is the sunset at Cape Sounio. It takes a couple hours by bus from Omonia (ask for the closer bus stop). Other must-see is the sight from Mount Likavittos, night and day. Gay scene: in Gazi area all the bars ar friendly, but Majo and Big. Sodade is a crowded club with excellent music. Out of Gazi the must are Aleko's Island in Psiry and Lambda and Granazi at the beginning of Sigrou. Have fun!

The hotel is in the worst dreary Athens area, going out ( mandatory to have some food) was quite a bad experience. Nothing happened , fortunately, but the feeling was to be in a suburb of Tangers instead ! Apart from that the Hotel was acceptable and the service provided satisfactory.

I stayed here at the end of a 4 week trip to Greece and found it to be a very nice hotel. My room had a wireless internet connection that was fast and easy to use. The room itself was clean and closely matched the pictures provided on this site. My only complaint was that there was a lot of noise from outside during the mornings and early evenings.

Very noisy street, with a bus stop just in front. But also very interesting little shops all around the hotel. My wife loved that.

Hotel Zinon is a terrible hotel and the famous label "Best Western" is certainly misleading and should be removed. The cleanliness is obviously not a priority especially the bathroom which is smaller than a closet. We never opened the windows or even the curtains because we faced a horrible slum which housed squatters! Finally, the noise coming from the other rooms was sometimes unbearable and the hotel management did nothing about it! The surroundings of the hotel are dirty but at least (that's the only advantage) it is close to Omonia and Plaka...

Hotel location was difficult to find at first, but once you get settled into the city, it becomes convenient walking distance to all tourist sites and subway. Breakfast is excellent - the best during our travels through Greece. Free wireless internet access from some parts of the hotel. Our room had some street noise, but there are quiet rooms in the back. Most of the staff was super friendly and helpful!!

The stay was nice, because the room was clean, the bath towel was exchanged every day, besides the small room size, especially, the shower compartment that is very small. Besides of central, the local is relatively noiseless. I thought excellent the free use of internet and efficient clerks in front desk. I did not like the hotel surroundings, due to the accumulated garbage in the dustbin. In some places, it was difficult to walk in the pavement. But I believe that this is a problem of Athens prefecture.

The hotel was right in the center of Athens, The quality of the services and the rooms was medium-high especially compared to the price offered

The hotel is nice, new and clean. It's not that cheap but it is acceptable according to the Athens' standards. The surrounding area is dodgy and dirty, but as most Athens is. The hotel is well communicated.

Decent room, great breakfast, very nice and helpful person at the desk (Italian speaking!), overall a good bargain for 70 euro. The neighbourhood is not the best in Athens, but I loved the surroundings, and the hotel is very near to the subway station and within walking distance from the Plaka..

The hotel is just fine, no complaints, just a few comments. Free computer access in the lobby is helpful but dreadfully slow. The area where the hotel is located is downright scary at night if you take side streets. If you are walking from Omonia Square, which is just a few blocks away, there are only a couple of seedy blocks. But if you are walking from Syntagma Square and take side streets -- I (male, age 29) felt downright unsafe. For one, prostitutes are literally standing around. I'll leave the rest to your imaginations. The bottom like is if you are taking cabs or walking during daytime, it's just fine. At night time, take main streets and just be aware of what's around.

Very nice hotel, it is a pity that they don't have a parking place.

Excellent deal given how expensive Athens has become and the poor exchange especially for US travelers. The only drawbacks were location, location, location. It's on side streets in the Omonia Square area which is now a very marginal neighborhood (translation, lots of third world immigrants and lots of questionable activities all around, i.e. prostitution, drug dealing etc). During the day it's fine but at night you have to be very cautious coming/going from the hotel - better yet use your savings for a cab to get to where you need to go. From the airport it's easily accessible and once you get out of the metro it's only a 5-8 minute walk. I recommend it if you're budget-conscious but looking for value. Staff was very helpful as well, a bit detached at times but remember this is Europe not Peoria.... 8-)

The rooms are small. The smallest we have ever lived in but everything else in the hotel works very fine. A big balcony with a good view over Athens on the 7th floor. Clean and nice. Staff is helpful and the breakfast is good enough for the price you are paying. The broadband was excellent, wireless or with socket for cable in the room. You have everything worth seeing in Athens within a walking distans of 15-25 minutes from the hotel. You can see our pictures from the trip in January 2006 on www.prc.nu/athens which also provides some tip for your stay.

Although the room was quite small and the neighborhood a little unnerving, it was very clean, very nice and we would definitely stay there again. Its a good 15 minute walk to Monisiraki (the closest touristy shopping area.) Oh, the free breakfast is not very good by American standards. Even the strawberry jelly tastes a little "different." Regardless, I would recommend this hotel to anyone who doesn't want to spend a lot but still get a clean, well-maintained hotel with quality staff.

Even though I had a fairly small room, (I had a nice large balcony though)it was more than adequate and comfortable. The only negative was that I felt, as a single traveller, the area around the hotel was slightly seedy at night.

You don't need to think if you have enough money (not too much) and want to live in a safe and friendly place in Athens. The reception is excellent except the bottle water is too expensive.

This is really a good place to stay. The hotel is totally remodeled and you will get a wonderful view if you stay in 6th~8th floor with the first three rooms (e.g. 601~603). All of the agent can speak fluent English and provide lots of good information. Highly recommended.
