The only bad surprise was the sorroundings of the hotel: most of people wandering around the hotel were drug addicts or drugs sellers, at any time of the day. We had no problem with any of them, but it was not very pleasant.

The breakfast which was highly recommended several times by other guests was o.k.. But after the 2nd morning all the same. Surrounding area a little bit frightning. Drug scene in front of Hotel and in a near side street prostitution. But Police guarding on every corner. Traffic was very loud and disturbing but due to A/C and closed windows acceptable. Nevertheless after 3 weeks on the islands where pensions and services were not all the time satisfying we felt like being in heaven...so clean...every day fresh towels...

Good hotel, a short walk distance from metro station but surroundings are not a sight. Nevertheless we enjoyed our stay and had no problems whatsoever.

There was no one to help us with luggage, and there was only 1 person at the desk. We could not get the a/c working until someone came up. The room was small and the a/c was poor. We only stayed overnight before taking a cruise.

The hotel is located close to Omonia subway; the location is easy for transportation reason. The surrounding area is questionable but again Athens is densely populated. The breakfast food is good and satisfying for half of the day. Fresh squezze OJ is definitely good. The tile floor is better than the carpet for reasons that easier to vacuum and would noticed the dust and dirt better. It is easy for the housemaid to vacuum the floor. I would recommend this hotel again and would stay in this hotel again if I would visit Athens.

Thank god for non-smoking rooms, because the lobby was always filled with a fog of smoke from employees and patrons. The area is a bit seedy, but it's nice and close to the Metro and not difficult to get to from either the port or the airport.

The hotel itself was a pleasant surprise, we had one of the best breakfasts of our whole vacation there. But we did not venture out at night because it is a scuzzy part of Athens. It is very centrally located, about 2 blocks from the subway. No view to speak of.

The room was great, staff very helpful. Location very central. Breakfast provided whilst simple included variety (cereals, fresh fruit, cheese, yoghurt, meats, breads, coffee, tea...)and was really good - ample.I thought this was great value. Only criticism I had was that towards the end of my stay they were changing room furniture. I would have liked notice about this, but they took on board this comment. I really recommend this place.

Hotel located in a busy area and close to Underground station (3 minutes) The staff was helpfull and nice. The room was perfect for our 2 nights stay 3 persons: spacious, clean and with a relatively good phonic isolation. Breakfast was excellent with large choice and good quality. An advise: do not park your car in surrounding streets. Mine has been damaged by robbers. Better to park in a car park even if quite expensive.

We would definitely stay at this hotel again. We found the staff very friendly and helpful and most important, all the receptionists were able to speak English. We found our room very clean, including the bed linen and towels. Thumbs down for the size of the room. However, the price and location(close to transport) of the hotel outweights that! Folks, the breakfast was fabulous! We had a great time. Would recommend this hotel!

Air-conditioning didn't work, balcony was the roof of another building and was filthy. The noise from air-conditioning units on neighbouring buildings was extremely loud.

Located near by Omonia square, the hotel is very convenient to get on subway, to shop or to eat out. National archeology museum is walking distance, you won't miss the road. The reason why I chose this hotel is free wifi, and their internet connection was very easy. I stayed different rooms, one night with bath tab, two night with shower only. Both is well above acceptable quality for me compare to the price. One tip I can give to other traveller. I walked from Larissa rail way station to this hotel, and near by larissa station, 3 guy approached me with claiming themselve as passport control. That was fun to see such traditional rip-off artist. I ignored them and walked away, and they did not follow me.

Perfectly reasonable hotel in central location and overall a good value stay. Area a little 'colourful' but we had no problems. Handy for Metro. Hotel in general a bit smoky but that's fairly typical for Greece in my experience. Wouldn't recommend for romantic break but perfectly okay as base for sightseeing.

the hotel is nice, clean and quiet (interior room with no view). The staff in the reception very frendly and helpfull. brekfast ok. metro is 3 blocks away, aprox 300m. the problem is at night because the walk from the metro to the hotel is dark, but safe. for the price its a good bargain.

This is an ordinary, average hotel in the middle of a tourist area. It provided what it said it offerred. We liked the little balcony off the room which had a heavy security door for safety.

It's on a main street but not as close to Omonia Square as expected. The street is slightly uphill towards Omonia Square, so be prepared to spend extra effort in walking towards Omonia metro station after check out unless you catch a taxi. But the street is single direction (from Omonia), so going to Omonia Square may be quite frustrating due to heavy traffic in surrounding streets. We were stuck on a coach for 15 minutes after returning from Meteora. Room decorations and facilities are not as new as Best Western Zinon Hotel which is owned by the same hotel owner.

The hotel is very convenient if you want to begin visiting the Archaelogical Museum;a few minutes' walk to get to the entrance. The personnel is nice and helpful(there was a bus/train strike in Athens, and they got me a taxi at 6.30 am for only 30 euros to the airport:in any European city I would have spent a fortune!).The only problem was that 2 days before arriving in Athens, they changed my hotel!I didn't go to the Pythagorion, but to the Best Western Museum, where I found a very small single room, instead of the spacious room I had seen during the booking on line.Yet I guess double rooms must be very comfortable.I would go back there if I had to visit Athens again.

Hard to beat for 45 € a night for a best western hotel in the center of Athens.Only downsides are that rooms are a bit cold and you cannot manage the heat from it. The broadband internet was useless for me cause they didnt specify you needed a wireless card to bring with you as I thought there would be an ethernet plug. Besides that great deal

How to reach Best Western Hotel Pythagorion

By airplane
The Athens' Eleftherios Venizelos domestic and international airport lies approximately 25 km away from the hotel. The airport is well connected to the city's centre by an express bus service and an underground line. Buses and taxis can be easily found at the airport bus station.
Upon leaving the airport, take the Attiki Odos highway (pay toll) and follow the sign to Katehaki avenue. Take the K2E exit to the elevated road. From here, take the 16K exit, which leads to the route named Ymittos ring for Katehaki avenue. Follow this road straight until exit Y1 for Katehaki and Messogeion avenue. Turn left onto Messogion avenue and go straight following the indications to Vas. Sofias. When in Vas. Sofias avenue drive straight for about 1 km until you reach Syntagma square. From here follow the indications to Omonia square, where the underground station bearing the same name is located. Once in Omonia square, go straight on Agios Konstandinou street, where at number 28 the hotel is located.

By boat
The property lies about 12 km away from port of Piraeus and is best reached by taxi in about twenty minutes.
On leaving the harbour, take Akti Miaouli street and turn right onto Vas. Georgiou avenue. After 200 metres turn left onto Iroon Politehniou avenue, which leads to Possidonos avenue and then to Syngrou avenue. At the end of Syngrou avenue, turn left onto Syntagma square. Then follow the above-said directions to the property.
