The room was very small but clean. I checked out at 2:30am and when I requested a coffee I was told I couldn't have one cause the coffee machine was out of order. The coffee I asked (Frappe) didn't require a coffee machine! Finally, although I had prepaid by bank transfer, I was asked to pay again because the reception was not informed of my payment. I refused and showed them the bank transfer sheet I printed during payment in order to let me go.

For the price and location, this hotel ranked well. The problem is that it's located in one of the most risky areas of Athens, just beside the University (street gangs, late night parties...etc.) If you have business in the downtown area of Athens, this is a good spot.

Was there 7/09. Hotel is clean, everything works, buffet breakfast is good, free internet, staff professional & helpful. Neighborhood not bad at all, Carabinieris in close proximity at night time, came & went as I pleased. Bottom line... Pretty Good Deal.

The Hotel was in a very convenient location to visit the museum and get to public transportation. The staff was kind and helpful. The room we got was very small and a bit noisy, but in general is a good value for money, especially considering that it included a breakfast buffet.

Why choose (this) Best Western? Because of price/quality ratio! Small rooms, not so bad location from sightseeing center, and Arqueological museum. Not so good neighbourhood, but better than the other two same chain hotels units, which is lausy!

Not a very good experience on arrival. The hotel was very difficult to find and the directions given were poor. I was not able to accomodate an extra bed for a samll child (the rooms are VERY SMALL) and I was forced to get an extra room for the first night. I had to upgrade to a larger room with a larger price tag. The hotel inmediate surroundings will scare some people and it is true you will see drug-addicts and shady characters in the streets near the hotel. The police force was actually a welcoming sight next to the hotel! If you have your own car, you will have to pay an extra 10 Euro per night for parking. On the positive side, the hotel location in regards to the sights is very good, Internet is free, and the staff were fairly helpful. Breakfast was also good

Good location next to the Natl Archaeological Museum. Walked to the Acropolis from there, around 1.5 miles. The director, Emmanouil Kardamis, went out of his way to supply any information that we asked for. A full breakfast was included. Only had 1 full day there before our cruise left. Taxi from airport was 26 Euros.

We used this hotel for a quick overnight stay on the way to one of the Greek Islands. It is okay for a night or two. The location was not terrific. The guards carrying automatic weapons outside the adjacent museum was alarming at first. They stared us down and made us feel really uncomfortable. Once the hotel staff explained why they were their we were a little more at ease.

Our family of 4 (2 teens) stayed at the Best Western only for one night on Aug 6/08. It was cheap at 120 euros for 2 double rooms. Rooms are typically small but they were very clean. The bathroom was unexpectantly spacious -- pleasant surprise! Our breakfast in the morning (included in price) was great and ample: boiled eggs, omelets, bacon (mushy tho') & sausages, cereals, breads, juices, coffee, milk, yogourt. They also have 2 computers that you can use for free! Very handy! The surrounding area, however, definitely takes away from the hotel. We arrived at 8:30pm and the corner where the hotel is situated was peppered with police holding rifles (I counted 6 right at the corner but there were more up & down the street). I thought something was going on but our taxi driver told us this is normal. That corner is part of "drug alley" so the police are there to prevent any incidents. During the day, this area is just fine; however, like any other large city, the riff-raff come out at night. Strongly suggest that you don't walk down that alley at night! Unfortunately, we did and were followed by a young man yelling for us to give him some money. We hurried out of there! We returned at about midnight by a round-about way and it was fine. The police were there all night. Aside, from this part, we would recommend this hotel for budget-conscious folk.

This seems to be an old hotel that has gone a successful refurbishing. It´s a pretty standard big hotel, of a big chain. Not charming at all, but honest in what they offer. Staff were helpful and friendly, the room was clean and quiet, location was handy, breakfast was good, and there was free internet facility. The neighbourhood was OK, but a bit weird in the sense that there were lots of heavy armoured policemen all around, and the nearby street, adjacent to the Museum square, was crammed with junks.

My wife and I and our 14 year old teenagers stayed at the Best Western Hotel Museum three nights, July 8-11, 2008. The room was perfect for a family of four with sliding doors separating the two sleeping areas. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious. The air conditioning left much to be desired, making it uncomfortable to sleep with 90+ degree temperatures outside. On our last day, we finally complained about the air conditioning and found out that they could increase the output some, but negligible. Next to the hotel is a street facing a university that is riddled with homeless people. We walked down this street once and never again. The hotel is conveniently located near the National Archeological Museum. Bottom line, we got pretty much what we expected. The bathroom was the largest of our trip, the room was nice and the breakfast offerings were extensive. But, given the poor air conditioning and the questionable neighborhood, next time we'd probably pay more to avoid these problems.

We rate this hotel as one of the best during our vacation in Europe. The hotel staff kindly arranged our room very quickly and let us check in at around 8:30 a.m.so that we can have some sleep after a long night flight. Our room was very clean and quiet , good size bathroom with new facilities The breakfast is excellent with fresh vegies and good varieties. The service is very good . Empoyees are competent speeking good Englich . The only thing is you have to walk for about 10 munites or more to Omonio Squre station.

The reception staff were helpful and warm. However the evening porter cum bar tender displayed xenophobic tendencies like many Greek men I encountered in Athens. The breakfast spread was good but the lack of variation gets to one if you are staying at the hotel for more than 2 nights. Of the three breakfast staff only one made a conscious effort to greet and interact with patrons. The room was well located and the hotel is very well situated from all the major attractions in Athens including the metro. I ventured into the surrounding areas and enjoyed the atmosphere created by the presence of students from the polytechnic and the many African and Asian immigrants living in the neighbourhood.

The local is not really good, but unfortunately it's the normal sense about Athens. Breakfast ok. Bedrooms standard small, but Clean. Bathroom made by marble but also small. Reception not personal, but efficient. It's a 10 min walking from near subway station. Few stations from Acropelis. How we arrived late, (at 3:00 a.m); we decided get a bus (3 euros for person) to airport from Omonia Square, and after get a taxi from hotel (more 10 euros at all). Please if decide go to airport by train/subway don`t forget buy special ticket (6 euros instead the common 0,80 euro), or in the last station could happen someone from that company arriving and after to leave all foragers stressed,(the information are in Greek), they also will try make you pay a penalty that cost 48 euros. But anyway, it's a little bit confuse, but wonderful place to visit!

The hotel is very good, the better I visited in this prize category in Athens at the moment. The position is ok, near the Museum, which is a good location. The VERY BAD thing is that the road taking to the museum entrance is full of drug addicts using heroin in the street. Very bad to see (I wonder how it is possible in an european capital!), and I'm not sure how much secure. I would not pass there with a child, for example. A pity for the hotel.

The hotel is ok and you have a public transfer near, but there were some things that bothered me. First, when I came, the receptionist changed my room twice, I dont know based on what, and afterwards I realised that I was supposed to get bigger and better room, but obviously he didnt think that I deserved that room and gave me other. The room I got was opposite to the elevator and to the room, where cleaning lady had her stuff, so it was so much noise all the time, that some nights or early mornings I woke up becuse of it. And the last thing that bothered me was the fact that nearby in the park just opposite to the hotel was an drug addicts area and it was really dangerous to go through that park, espacially in the evenings. The personel completely ignored that and didnt even notify us, they kind of hopped that we wouldnt notice. However, I know that it is not their fault, but they could at least warn us. Actually, I asked one of the personel, why is the police standing at the hotel all the time and he said that it is normal.

Well, perhaps for price it was a fair value. But keep in in minds the hotel sits next to the national archeological museum and the small park there is replete with drinks and heroin addicts nodding off. On one level this is easily avoided by walking in the other direction and their is a strong police presence becuase of the nearby govt facitilities. In retrospect I would have paid a little more for better facilities and a better location. Also free internet was useless and never working.

Hotel was good value for the price. The room was a bit claustrophobic, but I was only staying there one night. Location was good & bad - Very near the Archeology Museum (good), but had to walk through "crack addict alley" (bad)to get to it. Staff were very competent and welcoming to the hotel. I would return to this hotel if I was staying one night only due to the price. Because of the small room, I wouldn't stay for multiple nights.

We needed an affordable place near the metro to stay one night before catching a ferry. We were quite pleased with our stay. The room was what we requested--three beds and a spacious bathroom. The hotel and staff are both top notch. It is conveniently sited for the Museum and for some funky shops, eating and drinking student style. The 400 sightseeing hop-on-off bus stop is about 250 metres away. BUT the area is frequented by junkies and probably not recommended for nightbirds of a nervous disposition, unless you are prepared to take taxis. We had a great time!

Hotel is adjacent to Archaelogical Museum. The hotel is well maintained. The room, somewhat small, but clean. The bathroom had marble tiles, and the shower was great after a long day. The room was quiet. Breakfast was more than adequate. Near the hotel is a lane where drug addicts hang out. But they did not bother us, and there are three police on every corner, so it seemed pretty safe. If you're OK with walking, it's within walking distance of the acropolis.

The hotel is located within a short bus travel/trolley ride or 2 stations underground ride to the center (Syntagma square) where all the fun is. The nearest bus stop from the hotel is just few meters away and the nearest underground is 7-10 minutes walking distance. To be frank, the hotel location is very much within the central part of Athens where all the attractions are available. You dont have to leave that central area o visit any attractions like PLAKA, ACROPOLIS, CENTRAL MARKET, important museums. The only drawback is there is a polytechnic college in front of the hotel and in the path to the main road (bus stop) and that is kind of shady with a unsafe feeling but i didnt find any problems at all even while i returned almost at 1 am in the night. The area is heavily guarded by police because of presence of some military residence nearby, so thats a good to know info :) Public transaportation in ATHENS is a no hassle thing with so clean underground stations with archeological informative displays. Its so cheap, a 10 day all travel card cost me just 10 EUROS and you could travel by trolleys, trains, bus, undergrouns. There is a medical shop available next to the hotel premises and on the main road next to the bus stop, you have eatery joints. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to have a pleasant and comfortable stay in an almost central area of the city where everything is so nearby. My hotel room was on the top floor which had a huge balcony and from where I had a grand view of acropolis by night, it was just amazing :) Not to forget, the free breakfast was also great in terms of european standards. A great choice and variety...

We had a wonderful three day stay at the hotel and it was very nice.It was very clean and newly renovated. The bathrooms were beautiful. All marble and very large. We had two rooms and both bathrooms were different but equally nice.I have read the other reviews and yes there are junkies in the pedestrian walk area between the hotel and the Archialogical museum, but only one reviewer mentioned the police. As soon as the sun starts set and even while it is still light out there were always apprx.5 policemen standing in the street and very visable. They were all right at the corner of the hotel. Our car was parked there for four days and nobody ever bothered us or the car.Even though the druggies were a drawback, the policeman more than made up for it.The breakfast was large and more than plentiful. We always left full. The coffee was excellent. As long as you get there at least 45 minutes before the breakfast closing there was never a problem getting a seat. We would laugh as the late risers would race down the stairs 10 minutes before closing(including our late rising children)and struggle for a place to sit.The facility looks bran new inside and is very well maintained. The staff were always helpful and nice. They even helped us carry our massive luggage up the stairs as the elevator up the first flight of stairs was not working. They even allowed us to keep our car parked outside the hotel after we checked out as we walked around Athens enjoying one last day there. The hotel is located very closely to a lot of restraunts. There are many to choose from and we went to a different one every night just for fun. It is about a 20 min walk to the Platka. Sometimes it felt a little farther, but it was hot out and August. Our children are ages 15,10and7 and they were able to keep up just fine.We even managed to make it to the beach for a swim one evening and still made it back in time to shower and eat dinner.Everything was still open @10pm. We would defintaly stay here again!

An excellent hotel - great value for money. It is very clean, friendly and the staff are very helpful. I didn't take too much notice of the area the hotel was located in as I was staying with my boyfriend, so I felt quite safe. But I would not recommend it for a woman staying on her own due to the location - many homeless, drug users. I didn't let this spoil my stay. I would certainly stay there again. Close to shops, restaurants, cafe bars etc.

The hotel locates quite a distance to either metro stations(Omonia and Victoria). In fact it is better served by trolley trams and buses, I supposed you would have to go this way when you first arrived. It is quite convenient to use the trams and buses and it's a good way to see Athens as you go. The director of Best Western - Emmanouil is a gem for hospitality and what one would expect from the Service Industry. Very warm, helpful which made our stay very welcoming, assuring and hands-on in the hotel. He is more than makeup for the short coming of one of their concierge during our stay. Overall, the staffs are adequate and nice. The location of the hotel is equivalent to that of Tottenham Court Road which was surrounded by computers and mobile phone shops. The area is safe as it is right next to the National Archaeology Museum and Polytechnic, there are always policemen around. Very convenient to eat out and shops.

We had a short 3 nights stay at Best Wester Museum Hotel in Athens. We arrived at about 4AM as our plane landed at night, and the Recepcionist was absolutely friendly at that time. However, there was no sign of the free welcome drink promised on the website of the hotel. The room was OK, with large bolcony at corner of the building. Unfortunately it was implssible to sleep at night with open windows because of the noise. The passage that leads to the losest main street (28th October str) was full of homelesses and the whole neighbourhood seemed to be a bit dangerous, however, we had no problem on our walk back to the hotel at the middle of the night. Some recepcionists had a little problem with their English. We had a nice stay at this hotel in Athens, but the overall experience was a little bit away from our expectations, but this was mainly due to the feelings of the city of Athens and no the Hotel itself.

The hotel is very well managed. It is really clean and quiet. The air-conditioning facility, which is an essential part of the surrounding, was very good. The breakfast was very nutritious and offers many items. It is good value for money. The location is a bit dim at night and gives an impression that it is deserted, where as within 5 minuets walk there are many good restaurants, bars and cafes. The one thing that I find inconvenient was the fact that their Pay TV channels are almost mixed with the Adult channels as you would have to go through the same screens to obtain either. The channels are centrally controlled by the hotel group and the local management cannot stop the stream of the film, once it is selected. This is very important for families with children. They promised to look into that when I complained about it.

Very friendly staff. Ok location. Good price/quality relation. (Manageable) problems: shower curtain could not prevent flooding the bathroom; airconditioning temperature was fixed (just off-on mode; no up-down).

The hotel is a real value for money and I strongly recommend it. Just beware that the wireless does not function properly in the upper floors - I had very little connectivity in my room in the sixth floor.

Good location for Museum, but Plaka is a tube ride which isn't a major problem as it's so cheap and very frequent. I was very impressed with the quality at the price.

Excellent facility and staff. My room was modern, very clean, and extremely quiet. While the area south of the hotel is somewhat rundown, the area north towards the Victoria underground station was very pleasant. There is a large, child friendly park located two blocks east of the Victoria underground station and a smaller park [not child oriented] just west of the station. Eating in those areas was much more relaxed than the tourist-packed Plaka. The area around the hotel is heavily patrolled in the evening due to the proximity to the museum, technical university, and a nearby government building. The website should add that the hotel is located on the intersection at the southeast, rear corner of the museum.

Nice hotel with comfortable and clean rooms with a balcony. The staff was friendly. There is no noise even for the rooms on the street. The hotel is just a little bit far from the historical center (about 30 mn walking) and from the metro stations (10 mn)

The hotel is on the back side of the archeological museum and just a 30 min walk from the Akropolis. On the direkt way to the Akropolis you can visit the old central market which is an experience on it's own and you pass through the Plaka area. The hotel neighborhood is interesting, lots of shops and restaurants and obviously safe, despite few homeless people. I can recommend to investigate the city by foot. For people who prefer public transportation, the Metro is just 10 min away. Finally, the breakfast is reasonable, we enjoyed it. Altogether a wonderful 4 day stay in Athens for our entire family (3 children 12-16).

The Hotel is very near to the National Museum but a bit far away from the Acropolis and the Plaka. The room was clean, the view out of the window not very interessting. A strange smell in the room could only be eliminated by the airconditioning.

Great location, right across from the National Archeological Museum. Reasonably easy Metro access. The staff is very welcoming, and the rooms (we had a four person suite) were newly renovated and very comfortable. An excellent choice for a visit to Athens.

The area around the museum is like much of the rest of the city dirty and run down. The hotel however was a nice clean retreat with typical European sized rooms. The nearest Metro stop is about a ten minute walk so take a reasonably priced taxi (about 3,50 Euro per person) when you're hauling your luggage. There is an easy train from the airport to the the city center. The hotel staff was very accomodating in helping us to schedule tours and other events. It was nice to be able to leave our luggage in the secure storage room as we ventured off to an island for a couple of days. The breakfast was tasty with a nice variety of hot and cold food. We also appreciated the use of the computers and the internet. This was our first trip to Athens and would consider staying a bit closer to the city center next time.

Location is central to the Museum but not to the city. The next metro station can be accessed by a walk of about 10 minutes. The walk to the city takes about half an hour. Two blocks away is a nice square with several bars (ask the porter how to get there). The breakfast room is too small for the size of the hotel. Therefore people always wait in line in front of the buffet and although the ladies are rushing to fill up everything you sometimes have to wait some minutes for your breakfast.

Big room on top floor with big balcony. But locaton is quite far away from metro station, about 15 - 20 mins walk, which is quite difficult with bags. Breakfast quite good with reasonable variety of choices.

ideal accommodation for a family of four, very reasonably priced, reasonable location right next to museum and on public transport routes. Would recommend to others and use again only downside breakfast rather bland and boring.

It took us a little time to find this one, our directions were not so good. Very nice place inside and the breakfast each morning was a wonderful addition. The darkening shades REALLY do their job. The staff was very helpful. We would stay again!

This is the best hotel we stayed at during our 2 month long trip. The staff was very helpful and the facilities were of an excellent standard. Being able to use the hotel computers and having free internet access was also a great bonus. The location is central but the room was quiet. It's a shame we couldn't stay longer

It took hours to find, even with a navigation system. Parking was terrible, and even though we ended up parking in full view of the front desk, our car was burglarized. The neighborhood is filthy and crime ridden. The police are also indifferent to foreigners. The staff, however provide excellent service.

Wahrscheinlich mit das Beste, das man für den Preis in Athen bekommen kann. Lage: sehr gut (ziemlich zentral, aber total ruhig, Nationalmuseum um die Ecke). Zimmer: klein, aber nett eingerichtet (alles, was man braucht). Frühstück: für griechische Verhältnisse sehr gut. Alles in allem: immer wieder !!!

My wife and I feel that this hotel was one of the best hotels we found during our recent stay in Greece. Mr. Kardamis and his staff were extremely helpful. The hotel's central location, superb staff, and excellent buffet breakfasts all combine to offer the visitor a positive experience in Athens.

Soggiorno discreto; camere pulite e spaziose. Nessuna sorpresa, sia in negativo che in positivo. Personale gentile ma sempre un po' polemico. Nice staying; clean and big rooms. No surprises, in negativ as well as in positive. Kind personnel but always not patient.

Situated very centrally, behind the archeaological museum in a lively, authentic quarter of Athens, where students and younger Athenians go out. Helpful service, clean rooms and a for Greek relations remarkable breakfast, even though there was no "all day free orange juice" as mentioned by other guests. I can warmly recommend the hotel.

I stayed in a double room for single use. I travelled alone and stayed only one night. The room was modern, not extremely spacious but satisfying, the bathroom was spacious, clean and nice. The hotel employees were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was in my opinion okay, but standard. The only disadvantage in my eyes was the location of the hotel. The street a bit difficult to find without asking, even with a map. But quiet and not so busy. The area around the hotel was not very nice. Overall I would recommend the hotel. Price and performance met my expectations.

Incredible value for the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms. Great location, next to many shops and restaurants but off the main road. Also, being right next to the Natn'l Arch Museum, it was very easy to identify on all maps, which is invaluable when trying to find your way in Athens.

We stayed here for 2 nights at the beginning of our 2 week trip to Greece and stayed again for a night at the end of the trip, as we were impressed with the service and rooms. Good location for the Museum (hence the name!), but a bit of a trek to the metro stop. The staff were great, really friendly and helpful. Rooms are big and spacious. Enjoyed the stay.

Hotel is fine. Breakfast is fine - Greek yoghurt and honey is very nice. Close enough to the metro lines (about 5mins walk) but a bit of a dodgey neighbourhood at night. Has two computers for free internet access (but kids tend to hog them to play games and surf the net!)

Good stay. Just one thing: ask for a NO-SMOKING room, we spent two night in the hotel (asking for the second a no-smoking). The first one was a very old room, noisya and smoke-smelling. The second one, was a very good room, clean, new, comfortable.
How to reach Best Western Hotel Museum
By airplane
The Athens' Eleftherios Venizelos domestic and international airport lies approximately 25 km away from the hotel. The airport is well connected to the city's centre by an express bus service and an underground line. Buses and taxis can be easily found at the airport bus station.
Upon leaving the airport, take the Attiki Odos highway (pay toll) and follow the sign to Katehaki avenue. Take the K2E exit to the elevated road. From here, take the 16K exit, which leads to the route named Ymittos ring for Katehaki avenue. Follow this road straight until exit Y1 for Katehaki and Messogeion avenue. Turn left onto Messogion avenue and go straight following the indications to Vas. Sofias. When in Vas. Sofias avenue drive straight for about 1 km until you reach Syntagma square. Follow Othonos street and then turn left onto Vas. Amalias avenue. Take E. Venizelos avenue for about 800 metres, then turn right and follow Trikoupi street for 300 metres. Turn left and take Solonos street, then turn right onto Benaki street, left onto Koletti street and right onto Soultani street. Follow Zaimi street, turn left and follow Tositsa street. Finally turn right onto Bouboulinas street, where the hotel is located.
By boat
The property lies about 12 km away from the port of Piraeus and is best reached by taxi in about twenty minutes.
On leaving the harbour, take Akti Miaouli street and turn right onto Vas. Georgiou avenue. After 200 metres turn left onto Iroon Politehniou avenue, which leads to Possidonos avenue and
then to Syngrou avenue. At the end of Syngrou avenue, turn left onto Syntagma square. Then follow the above-said directions to the property.
