Quiet hotel close to Plaka, Acropolis, Syntagma, etc. For those unused to Athens, the initial impression of the hotel might be unpromising, but once past the small lobby, it is clean and pleaasant. We had the suite plus a conventional double room. We did not have any of the bad experiences that some reviews mention except, yes, the shower doors are flimsy. So what? The staff were uniformly very friendly and helpful. We can recommend the Ithaki restaurant a few tens of metres down the road towards he cathedral, but there are several other good ones nearby. Apart from the National Museum (five away euros by taxi) you can do most of downtown Athens from this hotel on foot, even in hot weather.

Average 3 star hotel in a decent area. Average rooms, all - average. But the doors to the bathroom made from glass are a bit transparent, didn't like it, actually. Breakfast is also average. I think, we couldn't find more for this price in Athens.

A nice hotel near the Plaka and Syntagma Square with great view of the Acropolis. Room was large and bathroom was good. Staff were helpful though not that friendly. Would stay here again.

Good size room. minibar in the room. great breakfast. helpful staff (except 1 lady I asked for info one morning). close to metro. We stayed twice in this hotel in the same week. In our 2nd stay they gave us a room that faced the Akropolis (it is gorgeous at night!).

Hotel Amazon was very modern and clean. The hotel was quiet and seemed to cater to a variety of people. The included breakfast was a buffet of different breads, cakes, coffee, juice, fruits, cereal, yogurt, eggs and meats - by far the best included breakfast I've ever. The staff was able to answer all our questions and the location was very close to attractions, but in a quiet enough area.

I was very pleased with my choice of Hotel Amazon and chose to return there for a further night. It exceeded my expectations and I would thoroughly recommend it as an excellent place to stay in central Athens.-

Our family (two adults; three teens) spent the night here near the end of October. The Amazon was easy to reach from the Syntagma Square metro station. The location is a good one: close enough to the Plaka to be convenient but far enough out to avoid the onslaught of tourists and noise. The rooms were clean and well-kept, but there was an issue with the heat going on automatically whenever you used your room key to turn the lights on. The heat/cooling is controlled centrally. We were past cooling season but the temperatures were still so moderate that heating wasn't required. We had to open the windows for ventilation. The front desk was helpful and friendly--excellent English skills. The breakfast was decent. For a value hotel, this is a solid choice. Don't take a honeymoon here or expect a glamour weekend, but for a "I need a clean, decent room and a bathroom" accomodations, the Amazon is a good choice, especially for the location and price.

Modern, clean, & comfortable, this hotel is 2 blocks from the Syntagma metro/bus stop. We requested a twin, were given a triple, which was great. Spotless bathroom with great shower. Very helpful staff--the friendliest people we met in Athens! Only disappointment was that there was no access to the beautiful view of the Acropolis that is shown on the hotel's profile photos unless you book the rooftop suite. Other than that, I would definitely stay here if I'm ever in Athens again!

Fine hotel, but I wouldn't make it my first choice on my next trip to Athens. The money charged for the room didn't correspond with high-on-the-wall windows, no view, no luggage room and no lights in my room. the breakfast was fine and the receptionist very welcoming on the other hand. they need to drop their prices considerably before I consider staying there again.

We were thrilled upon opening our curtains on arrival in our room to see the Acropolis lit in the beautiful night sky.A very romantic, magical experience. The room was a good size and the location in the heart of the old area had a great mix of modern shops in the next street. We were able to walk everywhere in particular the Acropolis and the Plaxo markets. The breakfast room was very pleasant and the self service food great (do try the yoghurt and honey - brilliant!)

Excellent train and metro system takes you from airport to Syntagma square, some 200m from the hotel, easily and comfortably. I would *never* take a taxi! Hotel is located in Plaka and near Acropolis, best place to be! The roof suite has an excellent terrace with a breathtaking view on Acropolis and the city. Many Greek tavernas in the area, amongst which I *highly* recommend Taverna Sissifo with its lovely roof garden from which you can enjoy dinner watching Acropolis and Athens spreading in the distance, and at reasonable prices.

I would highly recommend this hotel to any visitor to Athens. It is steps away from Syntagma Square (and several internet cafes), the Plaka, and only about 15 minutes' walk from the Acropolis, the Agora, etc. The room was spacious, quiet, had a lovely view of the Parthenon (lit up at night). There is a small elevator to whisk you up to your floor. The shower had no curtain, so you end up getting the entire bathroom wet, but OK! They advertised free internet using the TV, but that didn't actually work ( you need a laptop). The breakfast was excellent - many, many choices! This hotel is DEFINITELY a good value for the money (112 Euros), with a very helpful and friendly staff.

Decent budget hotel tiny bathroom, the carpet was not vacumed in 4 days nor were the sheets changed. The front desk personnel were cold, aloof and in general disinterested. The best feature of the hotel is location but there are probably better options nearby

A very well located hotel. Great connection to the airport by bus and metro. Perfect walking distance to all the places worth seeing in Athens. Breakfast was OK. Nothing special. The cereal was the cheapest, but... The only problem was the size of the bathroon. And specially the shower pit was tooooooooo small.

Overall, very good hotel. Friendly staff, quiet room. Just as a matter of facts, they do not offer laundry service, though there are laundry shop near by the hotel which you can ask for delivery (open from 8 am, mon-fri). They charge 3euro per hour of internet use in the room, or 5 euro (I think it was) per day. The contents of the breakfast was the same for the week I have stayed there.

The room was very clean and smelled new. The website pictures matched the actual place. I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't mind the size of the room. It seemed large compared to Paris, although it had to be the smallest bathroom I'd ever seen--only slightly larger than the airplane. My only complaint was that I couldn't figure out how to get the water to come out of the showerhead instead of the lower faucet, and the hotel staff couldn't help me because it was a Sunday evening--even to send someone to show me how to make the switch. Otherwise, the hotel was a great value.

The hotel is rather small, but nice clean and in very good conditions. My room was pretty small (is this due to the cheap reservation through Venere? was is the last one? I saw bigger ones the floor map), still ok, but for the price i expected something more. Breakfast is ok, there are no other common spaces - you are there to sleep, get your breakfast and go out visiting Athens. The location is great: from the airport, there's direct bus (less than 40mins at night!) and direct metro (~40min). Walking distance (less than 10mins)you get to Plaka and Psyri, best districts for getting to know day and night Athens life. Acropolis is just a few steps farther, up the hill or through the flea market. All in all, it's not a cheap location but you get good quality, the location is great, and the personnel nice and welcoming. i'll probably go back!

My daughter and I found this hotel to be a hidden treasure. It's location was 3 blocks from the airport bus and within walking distance to all shopping areas and tourist attractions. Room 507, a twin, has a view of the Acropolis from the window. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the included breakfast was more than expected. The room was spacious, and the bathroom was modern and more than ample. My daughter and I highly recommend this hotel.
