Room and hotel location were nice. the wireless internet stopped working halfway through my stay and the hotel staff was unable to get it fixed for 2 days as people were away for christmas. other than that it was a good experience staying there.

I stayed in the Best Western Leidse square for four nights with two friends. Hotel staff were helpfull and polite. Room was very clean, beds comfy, a little on the small side but not too small. Hotel is about a twenty five minute walk from dam square but you can get a tram for a couple of euros or a taxi for ten euros and there are plenty of bar and restaurants local.

Perhaps it would be good idea to move smoking area away from front of the hotel as it was noisey late at night which kept us off our sleep.

This hotel was lovely and the staff was gracious and very helpful. Unfortunately, the directions to get there are very vague and it took us stopping at two other hotels and a long walk in the rain to find it. I hope that they will do something about this.

This is the second time I've stayed at the Leidse Square Hotel in two years. The location is fabulous, quiet, and has some of the nicest townhouses in Amsterdam. The staff are fabulous and extremely helpful; I arrived early and they had a room ready for me both times. They have tickets for the VanGogh Museum so that you don't have to queue. The breakfast has improved from two years ago. All high quality breads, cheeses, and meats- just a very tiny suggestion that they shouldn't use tinned fruit cocktail, even though they have fresh pieces of fruit available. I will definitely stay there again; the beds and linens are the best I've ever slept on!!

A nice and quite hotel in a perfect distance to everything.( Shopping, museums, nightlife, canals, resurants and parkareas)We got a room in the basement, but it was ok anyway. The room was nice and clean. The breakfast was ok, but you find excellent places for breakfast only few minutes away. The are tramlines and canalbus-stop in every directions just 1-200 meters from the hotel. A perfect place to stay if you don't need luxury.

Myself and 5 friends stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. The hotel was ideally situated for us being just on the edge of the city centre and close to the main canal and tram stops. There was no restaurant at the hotel only a breakfast room but for a special celebration we can recommend the American Grill at the nearby Marriot Hotel. There were 2 lively squares nearby with plenty of eating places and bars to suit all tastes. The breakfast at Leidse Square Hotel was very good with a variety of breads, cheeses and meats to choose from. The staff varied from being extremely helpful to being totally indifference. Sadly for us the indifferent member of staff was on duty on the Saturday we were due to leave and didn't inform us that our taxi had arrived 40 minutes earlier than expected. The taxi left without us and we needed to make alternative arrangements to make our flight back to the UK. If like us you have an idle curiosity of the red light district but didn't want to walk around the area on your own we can recommend the walking tour. It was very informative and opened our eyes on living and working in this area. Overall we had an excellent few days and would recommend this hotel.

I would say the service staff seemed generally more helpful when they were addressing concerns within the hotel than in giving directions or being knowledgable about the city's attractions. Improvement in this area would help. The breakfast was good in terms of being ample and fresh but if you are expecting gourmet food it would be a disappointment. It was a good basic breakfast. Overall, our accommodations were great, the staff were friendly (within the stipulation listed above) and we had a marvelous time.

This was an excellent hotel for our two night stay in Amsterdam. It was convenient for the City but in a very pleasant and quiet area. We would certainly stay there again if we needed to visit Amsterdam. Our only criticism is that the statement on the web site regarding walking time from the station is wildly optimistic - we took a good 30 minutes with cases. Take the tram!

We really enjoyed our stay at Leidse Square Hotel - it is smack in the middle of town! The room was big, with a very nice big bathroom. The breakfast included in the price was very good. We struggled a bit to find the Hotel after taking the tram to Leidse suare from the train station. It is actually so easy - when you get off at Leidse Square, turn away from Leidse square and walk in the opposite direction. Look towards your left where you will see a high building with "black" windows - that is the small street you are looking for.It is really only a five minutes walk.

I was mistaken with my ratings for Leidse hotel, but I am trying to correct my review with this text This hotel is magnificent, probably one of the best I have used in Europe. I've traveled enough and I know that hotels of this star rating are just "normal", but Leidse surprised me a lot mostly because of the quality/price ratio. The location is magnificent in a quiet street, we were given a room at fourth floor with a small balcony and we had a magnificent view. The breakfast was great, the stuff very polite and the only "minus" i would give is that they couldn't provide me a (paid) internet access card because they were run out of them. This was bad for me as i had to find a pub with free wi-fi at late evening. That's a difficult task in Amsterdam, i assure u. All in all though, Leidse is a 100% recommended hotel for this magnificent city and i will be back there in the future".

Lovely and quiet area where hotel is located. Extremely nice staff and very helpful. I know Amsterdam accomodation is expensive, but this hotel was worth the expense. This isn't a complaint, but I'm a food snob and I hate seeing supermarket bread being served in hotels on the continent where excellent breads are available from bakeries. I really missed having lovely bakery breads for breakfast.

Generally, hotels in Amsterdam are expensive. So does Leidse Square Hotel. An important thing I want to mention is a kind of fraud. For the majority of hotels in venere.com, no deposit is required. However, some hotels charge full amount even if the cancellation is made 2 months ahead! Hotel HEM 't Tolhuus is one of them!!! Unfortunately, venere.com does not help on this issue, and the willingness of improvement on it cannot be seen. So I recommend Leidse Square Hotel, it is an honest hotel.

Perfect location and nice people. The only problem is in the breakfast, there is not enough meal for evreybody, for your breakfast you need to go to the buffet at least 4 or 5 times, because every time there is something finished. After some minutes, they will replace it, but you need to wait, because croissants are finished, or bread is finished or even there are no glasses. It's the only negative point. There are two women during the breakfast when they would need about four people.

First visit. Excellent location for visiting Rijksmuseum, just 5 min walk away. Very much a 'high turnover' type hotel but convivial bar and sandwiches were made for us 'after hours'. We were unlucky because aircon malfunctioned in our basement room making a terrible noise, but night porter moved us to an adjacent room very promptly. Our friends (2 other couples) has differing experiences. One couple had a noisy room and the others had a very quiet one. We did hear early morning noises as we were under main reception area and obviously people move in and out at all hours.Overall it was OK. We were only there for one night.

The room was not very large and there was no bathtub - but everything was very clean, the beds were very comfortable and everything functioned properly. There was a bit of street noise in the mornings but it was tolerable. The staff was welcoming and professional and the breakfast was just unbelievable (no offence, Di-Ann Hotel!). I was a bit disappointed by the lack of internet access: only one machine in the lobby, very expensive and with archaic version of Explorer (I wouldn't download a new version myself when I have to pay 5 euros for 30 minutes... but there is a place around the corner that only charges 1.25 for the same time...) Overall, very pleasant stay, great location on a quiet street just of Leidseplein.

It was the first time we were in Amsterdam. The Leidse Square hotel is ideally located near Leidseplein, all major attractions are within walking distance. Also public transport is very near. The quarter is very nice and quiet. Rooms are clean and simple, but comfortable. The bed was small though (french bed with single matrace in a double room). Breakfast was also quite simple, coffee was good. All in all, a good budget stay. (One point: avoid wireless LAN in the hotel. It's a REAL rip-off; there are several inns in the surrounding offering WLAN free of charge)

Excellent situation in the city, near all the interesting places and well communicated by tram: it takes 5 minutes to the Voldenpark, 10 minutes to the Museums (Van Gogh and Rijsk.), 20 minutes walking to the Red Quarter (5 by tram). Quiet rooms and surroundings. A good value for money and very helpful staff. I've been twice before to Amsterdam and the ACH Leidse Square Hotel has been my best experience for the moment. I strongly recommend it to everybody.

Great location around the corner from the museums (Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh. Also close to Leidse Square where everything happens. Restaurants, Irish pubs are just a couple of blocks away. The pedestrian shopping way (Kalverstraat) is also close. Staff are amazing and breakfast included was good.Rooms are a good size. Would stay there again.

The room was small, but efficient. The bathroom was in very good condition and good shower/bath. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of selection and tables. Easily cater to full or continental breakfast.

Staff helpful and welcoming. Was asked if we preferred to pay at beginning or end of stay. One staff member in particular v.helpful for directions etc.Room spotlessly clean, area quiet as was hotel, except for one night when woken by very stoned woman shrieking in corridor at 1.30am, Got my own back as I removed her do not disturb notice on the way to breakfast!! Breakfast plentiful with enough choiceand dining room open for adequate time. Only thing that would put me off staying again, was the size of the room. Very small and very stuffy, only one window opened, and it was stifling. also only one chair, so one of us had to perch on bed.

Everything at the hotel exceeded our expectations, the Vondelpark was so close that from our room we could hear the ducks on the lake quacking, a bonus in the city!

Está al lado de la zona de los museos, a unos, 15-20 minutos andando del centro. Para mi, el hotel está muy bien y andando en un momento estás en la Dam Place.

Good location, very near areas where there are good number of clubs, restaurants and major tram stop. near Van Gogh museum and fashion district. Room was very comfortable for the price. bathroom needs refurbishing maybe in the next year, staff was okay. nobody will greet you to the door and help carry your bags to the room. breakfast was buffet but consisted mostly of bread, cheese and cold ham, only hot dish was boiled eggs.

Would recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Amsterdam for a short break. The location is superb - the busy Leidseplein and museums minutes away, yet in a quiet street so you don't get the noise at night. The reception staff were charming, friendly and efficient with a box of chocolates provided on check in. The reception staff recommended getting the bus in front of the American hotel back to Schiphol, which we did, for €1 per person (surely a mistake but heck, the driver quoted the price and took our money). The breakfast was good value and you could see a wide age range (from students to the elderly) all enjoying this great value for money hotel. I'd definitely stay here again.

The Leidse Square Hotel is very conveniently located, in a quiet area yet close to the city and points of interest, including the famous Amsterdam museums and the many food outlets. It was only about 3-4 minutes walk from the bus-stop. Breakfast, which comes with the room, presented a sufficient variety and you could eat as much as you wanted. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, making suggestions on the best ways of enjoying Amsterdam, rather than waiting for us to ask questions. In particular I must compliment Ms Martina of the Front Desk for her cheerful and thoughtful ways. Our 2 days at this hotel made our stay in Amsterdam all that better!

If you don’t like surprises, stay away from this hotel. We had a reservation for two nights. First night wasn’t so bad, even if the stairs were far too steep and the room too small. We left the next morning and we returned one day after. We were very surprised when we were informed that our room was in the basement. As we didn’t have another choice, we accepted the room. First thing I remarked was a dirty towel on the floor. I tried to take a shower, but it was impossible, as the water couldn’t drain from the tub. Even if somebody came and fixed the problem, it wasn’t very pleasant, or at least not for the price we paid for the room (120 EUR). Besides this, we couldn’t sleep at all because of the noises above. And this is not the end of our problems. We were told that we could park our car in the parking near the hotel for less than 20 EUR/day and in reality we paid 48 EUR/day, more precisely for 21 hours. Thanks God, Amsterdam is a nice place!
