Chateaux de Villersexel was one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen and I was really looking forward to my stay there, as it was also my birthday on the night I was staying, plus I was on my own. I was booked to stay there one night, and unfortunately I didn't arrive until eleven in the evening. I was driving there from Italy, and I did plan to be there by 8 or 9, but some roads were closed in Switzerland, and this caused me a few problems. So, when I did arrive I had been driving for over 12 hours and was quite stressed. I had tried to call the Chateaux beforehand to let them know that I would be late, but I just got their answering machine. I had trouble actually finding the place in the dark, so called again, and they answered. The owner came out to open the gates for me. He seemed quite cross and told me that I could of at least called as it wasn't a good time. I did try and explain that I had tried to call and about my long drive, but he didn't really want to listen. He then took me to my room and asked if I planned to go out that night, and not waiting for an answer, said that the door would be locked at a certain time. He showed me my room, and asked what time I wanted breakfast as it is served in the room. I told him 9 oclock and he then left, shutting the door behind him. It was now 11.30pm and I had half an hour of my birthday left, so I decided to go down to my car and get a bottle of wine. I found my way down and out of the back door (left a magazine in the door to keep in from shutting). Whilst searching in my car, I heard footsteps on the gravel and it was him, behind me. He asked me what I was doing and I said that I was getting something out of my car. He then asked if I had shut the back door fully. I said that I hadn't and he then went on to say that if I had shut it, I would not be able to get back in that night. He seemed almost delighted about this.
