We had a fabulous stay at Vittoria's Al Filarmonico. Everything was perfect! We had lovely dinners at: Il Orologia Casa di Vino and Bottega di Vino It's worthwile to rent one of those public Verona Bikes. Once you've signed up online it's super easy to pick them up, pedal around and then return them. Lovely stay!

Very nice all round, no problems and so close to the centre, literally a 1 minute walk. Landmarks such as the amphitheatre and the surrounding architecture all within an easy walk, plenty of cafe's and restaurants to keep anyone happy. As always in Italy, we have found, traffic lights don't seem to have any effect on the traffic pattern re vehicles. Keep your eyes open! Could not fault it.

The second time I stay at this hostelier, great placement - in the very center of Verona, all the bakery the proprietor cooks herself - delicious croissant and applepie! Very comfortable and quiet rooms, make you feel in Verona lika at home. I will turn back and advise you to come and try the stay yourself

The B&B in itself was perfectly located, clean and good. When we arrived we didn't feel very welcome though. Before we left she warmed up a bit. Also, the website said we could pay with credit card and she would only accept Euros which was very inconvenient. I would probably book again but I'd know what to expect.

My Sister and I travelled to Verona and met at 'Al Filarmonico' families and smaller travelling Groups. The rooms were clean, comfortable and looked like they were fresh renovated. The breakfast was various. All in all it was a very nice trip which was completed by the politeness of the staff.

A very pleasant welcome from the proprietor who offered us coffee and biscuits after we had been travelling all day. A good breakfast with a number of options. Extremely convenient location for looking at the city and for going back and forth from the train station. Good instructions for finding the B&B by bus from the station much appreciated.

After finding the Al Filarmonico B&B I was told I would be staying in another part - the Primavera B&B. Did not seem to be same quality. Breakfast very poor. Lady who was there was moaning about drops of water on the floor when you washed your hands. She also told other guests that I had not paid when I was told by the Al Filamonico owners to pay at the end of my stay. Would not reccomend this as a relaxing place to stay - has put me off staying in B&Bs.

A family of 4 stayed in Al Filarmonico during a busy July night. Very friendly and helpful gentleman gave us a map with all the sights to see in a short stay. Room was really adequate for a family of 4. Arena was just around the corner and breakfast was superb. Lady at breakfast very attentive and helpful. Did have to share bathrooms which I thought would be a problem but we were supplied with our own towels and it worked out fine. Would definitely recommend this B & B to friends.

Excellent location for attending Verona opera, within walking distance to other sites. Room was simple, comfortable, air conditioned. Two shared bathrooms available just across from the room, large and clean. Typical breakfast included, which gave us an opportunity to meet other guests from all over the world. Priced right for Verona high season, given the location, but keep in mind this is more of a B&B than a hotel. Had no problem finding or gaining entry to the building (as mentioned in other reviews), perhaps because we kept in contact with the host via email (at to planned arrival time), then cell phone (when we were delayed). Would stay there again for 1-2 night visit.

The place is beautiful and well cared. It is decorated with very good taste. The breakfast was excellent. Price is a little high. There is no permanent reception and guests may have to wait until somebody comes for the check in. We were asked to pay in currency, not with credit card. But, the overall impression, in spite of those shortcomings, is very positive.

The room we stayed was simply fabulous, the one we originally booked was broken, so the owner gave us another one, and I can't stress how gorgeous, big, quiet, warm it was, bathroom included. The breakfast was in a big kitchen with all kind of food to satisfy everyone's needs(special mention for the delicious pastries that the owner told us about, they were really fresh and bought the same morning in the nearby pastry shop)! Suggested to everyone, if I were to go back to Verona, I'd go back to the same place.

The location is excellent. It is very close to the city centre and the view is amazing. I would definitely come back here again if I ever return to Verona. There is an elevator so you do not have to walk all the way upstairs. One remark is that the two owners do not speak very good English, but the person who receives you does, so we did not have any trouble with that.

I chose this B&B because it was close to the historical center and the train station. There is no reception so we had to call the number on the door for someone to let us in. When the man arrived, he understood we had requested a room for 3. Thankfully I had my reservation showing a quad room had been reserved. We were then taken to another building a few doors down and shown to our suite, where he made up an extra cot for us. Where we stayed was actually called "Al Teatro B&B"... It looked like the family owned a few apartments, and they rent out the rooms. The room was very clean, not much space for luggage once the extra cot was in there. We had to share a bathroom with at least two other rooms which was not ideal, no hooks to hang wet towels in the room and you could obviously not leave them in the shared bathroom. The suite shared a wall with the bathroom which was noisy especially at night when other visitors came in late. The location was very close to the Roman arena (about 2 blocks) and many touristy restaurants. We desparately needed to do laundry, no front desk staff to help, finally found one on our own thanks to the barrista at the Filarmonico restaurant on the corner. (self service laundromat on via Septembre, 1st stop after bridge). Via Mutilati is not the greatest street, some rough/ impaired charactes hanging around. Grocery store a few doors down. Breakfast was self service in a kitchen down the hall and included, mostly packaged pastries, yogurt, fresh fruit, milk/ juice. The coffee machines in the kitchen make the worst coffee we had on our whole trip. For future travelers to Verona: city is very clean; we found a great restaurant called Terrazza Bar "Al Ponte" over looking the river and Ponte Pietra bridge.

Great place to stay, spacious and quiet room. Although the room was supposed to have a shared bathroom we had one on our own. Breakfast was great with cornetto and cappuccino, unusual for Italy. The location was perfect, quiet but just next to the Arena. It took us a while to reach someone to open the door as there is no reception. Use the phone number on the entrance. A Taxi from the Airport is a good choice for 20€ or you take the Airport Bus for 5€ and get off at the Arena, not the main station.

It took us a long time to find this place - the instructions were not clear. ( Take the main road Corsa Porta Nuevo to the town. Turn left just before the big arch - note the cafe Filarmonico on the corner. Go past the supermarket on the left, past the cafe, then see the big green doors. The only identification is the bellpush saying Filarmonico.) Having found it we rang the bell which was answered quickly, but we had to wait a few minutes before the lady (Vittoria)came down. She then took us down the road to another door which was actually listed as Pension ??????. This was a flat (appartment) with 4 bedrooms, one bathroom and a kitchen for a self service breakfast. Vittoria was friendly but spoke next to no english (and we have next to no italian) so conversation was limited! The room was lovely - big enough, comfortable bed and a settee to sit on. Some noise for a while just after midnight from the back of the concert hall as they packed up after a concert. We would happily come back here, but note that our experience does not match the actual Filarmonico description.

The door was locked when I arrived, and the 2 phone numbers written on the doorway were unconnected. Without help of passing-by resident of the same building, it could taken me longer to get in the room. The first thing the owner did when she showed up was to blame me not to tell beforehand the exact time of arriving by returning the e-mail which she insists she sent, which I did not receive. For the payment, she said the credit card reading machine was broken(which turned out to be a lie) to get cash, then she tried to charge me 2euros more. All the hustles. Good things; excellent location, spacious and clean room, good coffee.

We only stayed for one night due to our travel itinerary. The place was clean and is a couple blocks away from the opera arena (the reason for our trip to Verona). It was really easy to find and is within walking distance from the train station. The bathrooms are shared, but that wasn't a big deal; it's just something you need to consider in booking it. I would definately recommend it to anyone wishing to visit Verona & I think the service & facilities were better than some hotels I've stayed in. We booked a double room, but were given a twin (with one very squeaky bed), and it wasn't mentioned on the website that it wasn't ensuite. We waited half an hour for the owner to turn up and she didn't answer the phone number we were given. Other guests had the same problem (there were three couples waiting by the time the owner showed up, and a couple we spoke to waited an hour and a half the day before). The breakfast was OK, but is kept out all morning rather than being in the fridge, so health and safety might be an issue. That said, the rooms themselves were nicely arranged and had air conditioning (very important in the summer). The location was superb, only a couple of minutes walk from the Arena, and the other rooms that we saw were doubles. So the stay will probably be a good one overall once the owner turns up.

This was a perfect location for our weekend in Verona with easy access to all the places we wanted to visit. The street was a little dark and unfriendly late at night when there was not an event on nearby. Don't let the shared bathrooms put you off. It's in the middle of Verona, but in some way there's no noise all around, because it is situated in small road, repaired from traffic. In the same place there is a supermarket for all your needs, and at about 100 m you can find the Arena and many restaurants. Price is lower than quality, wich is very high, from the kindness of the owners to the breafast served in the morning. I'll definitely return here!

The accommodation and location of Filarmonico more than met our expectations. We did have some difficulty finding the accommodation as we drove into Verona and, as in many cities, had to negotiate our way around one-way streets, and then had to ask directions from local businesses. We were fortunate that we arrived on the front step of the building at the same time as the owner's son, who was able to let us in and show us to our accommodation. It would be worth confirming arrival times with proprietor so that someone is there to meet you on arrival. We travelled as a group of 3 adults and a 14yo, and the shared room was fine, along with the access to 3 bathrooms - all of which were spotlessly clean. Unfortunately we didn't make it to the opera at The Arena, but will re-visit Verona in the future for a longer stay and to see more of this beautiful city. Will happily re-book Filarmonico on our next trip.

There was a good continental style breakfast and the owner, Vittoria, even made a cake especially for us on both days, despite the torrid heat! I'd recommend this place with no problem as long as you're prepared to gesticulate as she doesn't speak English.

The accomodation was extremely clean, quiet and comfortable. Excellent location. Surprisingly we did not miss an ensuite too much. Breakfast was fine - Victoria makes a good cup of coffee! We would definately use this accomodation again and recommend it to anyone on a budget in this price range. Good tips given on where to eat out. The only difficulty we had was finding the place! It is hidden discretely.

We (family of 5) stayed 3 nights at the Filarmonico in Jul '09 which was fantastically located for the Arena and a day trip to Venice. The accommodation was spotless and suited us prefectly. Breakfast offered variety and of good quality with fresh fruit, fresh bread and pastries etc. Vittoria works hard to ensure the accommodation and your stay are pleasant. Would definitely recommend for anyone visiting Verona whether for the Opera or any other reason. On the last day there was a problem in Verona with the banking and credit card authoristion systems; - this was not a problem for Vittoria and we sorted out on my return. Thoroughly recommend.

Location is ideal - central and convenient. Grocery/deli located very near - great for a picnic lunch to Lake Garda. Little difficult to find for newbies to Verona. Parking was tricky (We got very lucky and found places on the street). But Vittoria is a very gracious hostess and I would strongly recommend.

No english speaking staff. no credit card acceptance - lack of information about the type of payment availability, photo of room on advertisement shows only one room.

It's an appartment, so, no acoustic isolation (and a noisy neighboor). 3 bathrooms for 5 rooms (we had to wait a little for our turn). But Really clean. 2 minutes walk from the Arena.

The hotel is very good. The price quality ratio is a winner. But the staff only speaks italian. When we arrived, the hotel was closed, and I had to call to have the person come (she came very quickly). However, I spoke in English and discovered that she did not understand one word I said. Her good intuition is fine, but in case something more complicated arises, it can be a problem.

The rooms was clean and the location -excellent!right near the arena. There is a supermarket right near the house, not to mention a good bar and plenty of restaurants and good transportation. The owner was very nice and made good breakfast. When I asked about local wines she offered to buy me some and they were much cheaper and very fine quality

Originally was going to stay for two days and ended up staying 5. The location of the hotel which is within 300 metres of the Arena etc is excellent. The actual touches in the B and B are delightful such as pictures, shelves of books in the hallway and breakfast room, flowers, perfumed oil sticks etc. The whole place is immaculate. The breakfast supplied each morning was excellent and included ,ham, cheese and other smallgoods, toast, croissants, cereal, fruit juice ,coffee etc. Finally the lady who runs (owns?) the B and B was very obliging and helpful without being intrusive. She was also a lovely person and a pleasure to know. My partner felt that the B and B was great value and would highly recommend it to all travellers.

The four of us very much enjoyed our stay at the Filarmonico B & B. Vittoria was extremely gracious and helpful. The quad-bedroom and the baths were immaculate and comfortable. The breakfast in the dining area was delicious and ample, featuring a variety selections including a yummy fruit torte homemade by Vittoria. Good location too. Would stay there again.
