Hotel Reviews Residenza Al Pozzo
Italy, Jul 2009
Nice place, quite and clean. Terrific location! You get easily there from the railway station (10-15' walk) and then get to Rialto and Pzza San marco in 10'. You can walk everyway and avoid to get the boats which are quite expensive.

The lovely hosts at al Pozzo has a genuine passion for Venetian culture, they made us feel welcome in the city and showed us a glimpse of the real Venice. Rooms are nice and beautiful and very calm.

We were met at the Vaporette and shown the way to our room. The accomodation was clean and in a nice Venetian Style, the landlord was very helpful. We would have liked tea/coffee making facilities in the room.

Location was very good. Room size and comfort was better than often found in Venice. The owner/manager was welcoming, helpful, and friendly; his cleaning staff were not so much, and lowered the overall rating. The price was probably about 10% higher than equivalent other properties.

If we take that Venice is expensive as granted, then the 80 euro per night is the best you can find on summer time considering also the quality offered by this B&B.But in general I think that the price of this B&B is too much compared with quality/price of other B&B in Italy.

Overall it was a quiet and pleasent stay at residenza al pozzo. The staff were always polite and nothing really bothered us except that the towels were never changed. The bathroom (shared) contained everything we needed. The room was extremely quiet and it contained even a ventilator. The B&B is great located next to a tourist-mile which you would never notice when you are in your room. The bed is comfy and big. We wanna thank the nice guy at the reception for being very polite.

Great location. Excellent local restaurants right on Campo San Polo (have to try the pizza at the Birraria. Relatively easy to get to. Only one bridge to cross. Would stay there again and do recommend Residenza Al Pozzo. Extremely difficult time using the public telephones. Never did get it to work.

We had a great stay at this B&B. Breakfast was good and timely every morning, Michele was a nice host, the room was spacious, the shared bathroom was nice and not an inconvenience at all, the location on a large quiet square was nice and convenient. We would definately stay there again. My only complaint was on the welcome. We had gotten up before 6 am and travelled 7 hrs to get to Venice by early afternoon so that we could maximize our day. We had been asked to send our travel plans so that we could be met at the vaporetto stop, which we did, but there was no one to meet us. After waiting 30 min we got a map and easily found the residence within 10 min, which was open, but there was no one there either. I went back to the vaporetto stop several times to see if anyone would show up while my wife waited at the residence, but no one showed at either. Finally we found a phone number and a public phone that worked and were able to get someone to come and let us in our room. So 3 hrs after arriving at the vaporetto stop, we got in our room, but the afternoon was gone, as was my patience. The rest of our stay was great.

Our vacation at Venice was very short (two days and one night) so we spent at "al Pozzo Residence" only one night. In that two days it was very hot so the lack of air conditioning into the room was the only negative aspect. Except this, the permanence was perfect: breakfast was abundant, room clean and large, residence close to greater point of Attraction (all reached on foot). So we advice this property to everyone wanna spend a romantic week-end in Venice.

The welcome was friendly, the room comfortable - all one can ask of a one night stay. The location in Piazza San Polo is excellent and in a good position for reaching all corners of Venice within a few minutes walk.

The owner picked us from the Bus station. And it was quite late, the rooms were ready and done. I was happy with the service. Could have been even better if the owner could have provided some tour info.

I wish I could say we enjoyed our stay here more. The staff were helpful and rooms were clean but small. The building is under some sort of renovation and was very hard to find. From the front it looked like a construction site, which we werent expecting in the pouring rain. If the staff had pointed this out when I rang for directions it would have saved an extra 30 mins searching and soaking. The noise levels between rooms makes it hard to relax and have a conversation without thinking you might be overheard. One thing to its advantage is location, with it being well in the centre of Venice and within easy walking distance to all major attractions.

A terrific place to stay in terms of location and value. Our room was large, clean and comfortable with a pleasant courtyard outlook (typically Venetian), breakfast was good and the shared facilities were quite acceptable (but we'd probably opt for private bathroom next time). A good choice for those looking for reasonably priced accommodation in an excellent location.

it was the perfect place to stay in venece.Quiet, near "Rialto ", confortable.when the weather was nice we had breakfast in a terrace ( no views ),(I was in summer). In short words, we were very happy with this place. I want to mention that the front of the building is a bit discouraging, but looks can be deceiving.

Property ideally situated, warm, friendly greeting, met at vaporetto stop and guided to our accommodation. Close to all attractions. Owners very helpful indeed.Recommended local restaurants very good value. Only negative point, there is only one room with en suite, it does, however have a double and single bed

This is the perfect place to stay in Venice if you're on a budget. The rooms are spacious and clean, the shared bathroom is tidy and well maintained, and the host (Michel) is helpful, considerate and friendly. The position is on a large Piazza and incredibly easy to find, which in Venice is a major, major problem when your carrying an enormous backpack and trying to read a map. Stay here, you will be very happy you did.

Michele was an excellent host and provided directions to the dock. He met us at the dock and took us to the building. Breakfast was served on the terrace with fresh coffee. Provided special accomadations for an extra night's stay. Location is about 2 blocks off the grand canal. Michele is hot and makes for good scenery. Would stay there again.

Wonderfull place to stay in Venice. The rooms were spacious, clean and quiet even in the morning. Residenzia Al Pozzo is a window into Venitian lifstyle. My 10 year old daughter and I count Venice as the most wonderfull place ever visited in Europe. Very safe and the Venitians are so helpfull (because the main sport in Venise is getting lost...but what a great way to discovert this city) We will return - Thank you Michael and Christina for making us discover your "home"

Our stay didn't meet the expectations we formed from reading other reviews. The welcome was courteous but not overly warm or helpful. It was a bit like an empty house aside from breakfast time when host was there. Overall it was fine, but we could have been in a hotel.

Being Venice the most expensive city on my trip (Palermo-Rome-Florence and Venice) I must say I was pleasantly surprised once I enter the premises on Residenza Al Pozzo, The building outside looks nasty but inside is very cosy and luxurious. Very easy to get there following the indications on the web page. Located just in the first floor, the bedrooms are very clean and so the toilet (spotless). The best of all is probably one of the person who runs it: Michele, who was very nice and helpful all the time. We have not enough words to express our gratitude for making us feel at home there. For being Residenza Al Pozzo a B& B, the treatment that you receive there is that of a 5 star hotel without the hassle of those! The fact that they don’t take credit card is compensated with the charm of this guy who let you come and go without hunting you, so you pay when you can get the cash (handy in Venice when everything is closed at night). He even help us finding internet café, telling us how to get a nice and unexpensive place to eat, the correct vaporetto at 3am for our flight back and calling the airline to confirm our flights, Unfortunately we spend little time in Venice but next time without any doubts will be coming back to Al Pozzo!! We didn’t have the chance to meet Cristina but am sure she is as charming as Michele, judging for the mail we got after the reservation at venre, welcoming us to Venice with all the tips for tourist etc... Thanks again ! P& M

A friendly and obliging proprietor and a pleasant and convenient location. Our room was quite small and without a view, but perfectly adequate. We were given a set of keys which made life straightforward (once I had mastered unlocking the doors). I would happily stay there again and recommend it to others.

I would highly recommend this B&B! Great welcome, the room was basic but spotless (as was the communal bathroom). Michele took the time to answer all our questions about Venice, I would not hesitate to use this B&B again. Considering how expensive Venice can be, it was great value for money.

We booked our room thru Veneer by e-mail and received a confirmation #. Upon arrival there was no room available! Michelle explained that he had e-mailed us 3 times to reconfirm the dates, but we never received his e-mails. (We found out later that AOL.com treats most foreign languages as SPAM and destroys them!) Anyway, Michelle was wonderful. He called a friend, who let us use their 1-bed room apartment for the same price. It was an absolutely beautiful place!! We loved it, and we were told we could even use the food in the kitchen! What a deal (for 73E)! We highly recommend the Al Pozzo Residence to anyone going to Venice!
