The only real downside to this place is the Shared bathroom.... but you work around that.. Our hosts were great, delivered breaky to our room every morning. Location was Great; if you follow the directions given by them youll be at the B & B 10 mins after u get off the ferry... But try to travel light!!!!!! cause getting up an down all those stairs on teh Rialto bridge is a pain, especially with all the Tourists on it as well taking pictures...

We stayed at Santa Sofia for 4 nights. It's in a great location, and easy to find following the instructions provided (however I would strongly advise getting a map of venice that has all the street names as google doesn't find the right spot). The room was large, and although it had a fan, it really did need air conditioning. Apart from that, it was pretty much perfect and just what we needed. A lot of people have commented on the breakfasts - to be honest it ok, but definitely not great. However given the location and size of room (and multiple options on the street below) we felt that this didn't really impact on our stay. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for value for money clean accommodation in a central area, and would very happily stay here again.

Excellent contact with the staff but some things darken the picture. I don't know if it is Venice but the price is much to high for this rent. Again nothing with the people but we are used to a certain level of "luxury" for this price.

We were two couples from New Zealand. We found the hotel met our expectations, clean, friendly and centrally located. The only points we would make are that the breakfast was a little uninspired in view of what was available in the area and the door plaque was a little worn out and could be more visible (brass plaque?). Finding the hotel was simple if you came over the Rialto Bridge and down Calle del Sturion, then follow signage. We thank them for a memorable stay.

The hotel is very central, though hard to find when not familiar with Venice (take a map where every street has a name or you will have to ask!). The room was clean and nice, actually very convenient. Three rooms sharing a bathroom can be troublesome. Waiting for breakfast to be served as well. Maybe better get some delicious breakfast at a cafe nearby - then you get what you want without waiting for it. Very recommendable place when looking for clean, central and not too costly a room.

This is a great place to stay. Right in the middle of town near the bridge. The Staff was the best. Since our flight was early in the morning, they prepared breakfast for us that night, so that we would not miss a meal. We actually came a day early by accident and the Staff found accommodations for us at another location. Kindness is a treasure and they are worth their weight in Gold here. Best people in Venice.

The room was spacious and although no Air Conditioning had a quite fan. Proprietor was helpful even though she did not speak English. It is in the center of town so we could take adventurous walks to St Marks and The Accademia or eat on the Grand Canal. Pay attention to directions, it is part of an buzz in apartment complex on a dead end ally (no big deal in Venice).

The breakfast was very poor. Everything came in a plastic bag, hardly nutritious. And despire the description of the rooms on the website, 1 of the 2 rooms sat right above a busy and VERY LOUD bar, which kept me awake most of the night. Not going back there again!!

Italian holiday ! 1st time in Europe. Always wanted to go to Venice. Most unique city in World. The B&B was exactly as described on website and reviews. Absolutely perfect location in middle of city. Only downside was noise from street below.

Loved our stay at Santa Sofia. Easy to get to, location could not have been better, room was great and enjoyed the breakfasts. Perfect spot, right behind Rialto but far enough to keep the noise down.

Perfect location of B&B in centre of Venice. 1 room located on silent side of the building, 2 rooms have a window in a noisy street ( pub with music and loud voices till 1 AM). Rooms are very clean. Bathroom (shower and toilet) are shared! Don't expect too much of the breakfast: half a pack of pre-fab toast with butter and jam, a sweet croissant ( not fresh), coffee and yoghurt served in your room. Prices are very reasonable for this location!

Location is really exellent, 2 min from Rialto bridge, so most of the main sites are quite near. The B&B is easy to find if follow the instructions given in the description. The B&B has only 3 rooms, that's why shared bathroom is not a problem. Room and bathroom are very clean. My room was really large for one person and very quiet (the window overlooked a small blind street). The breakfast was simple but nice: tea-coffe-juice, toasts, jam, yoghurt. The price is quite low for such location and service. The owner and employees are VERY friendly and helpful! Fathi and Natalia grazie mille, spasibo :)

The only down side was the lack of air conditioning. The open windows let in the street noise - a nearby bar with outside seating was going full steam until after midnight.

I defenitly recomend this place! It's exactly in the center of Venice and a few minutes from St. Mark's square. From there you can go walk on by almost everywhere. At first, the location it seems a bit wierd because it's a bit hidden, but it's a normal place to stay. I really enjoy the welcome because everyone was so nice and helpful. Also the breakfast it's included in the price and it's ok to star a new day walking around. If i have to travel there again I'll book the same B&B.

Relatively easy to find. Price reasonable for the location. Stairs to climb to room. One bathroom for entire hall was problematic. We were up early, but a college-aged girl was doing the potty dance in the hallway for fifteen minutes to make sure she didn't lose her place in line before it was too late. We took the vaporetto to quickly get to property and walked back to the train station on departure. The latter was a little more than we bargained for w/ luggage, but definitely do-able.

We arrived late at night and found it slightly difficult to find...because we forgot to bring a map. I called Santa Sofia, and they were kind enough to meet us and escort us to the B&B. Very friendly, great location near the Rialto markets, and good value for money in Venice.

I have no complaints. Santa Sofia is a few steps from the foot of the Rialto Bridge and the Rialto market stop. I wanted a cheap room in the heart of San Polo and that is what I got. I knew what I was in for: no frills, a utilitarian room with no style or charm, a shared bathroom, truly uninspired breakfast, but all served with a smile. What did it for me was location, location, location. Directions to the hotel were easy to follow. I walked everywhere, and just needed a clean bed and a shower. Free wifi was a nice plus. If you're looking for creature comforts, delightful décor, and gourmet breakfasts, head elsewhere. If you're looking for functional and cheap (I paid €35/night in January), then this will suit you fine. And have breakfast in a caffè downstairs.

We found the hotel easily according to the description. It is in a side road close to the busy area of Rilato. Very convenient location for sightseeing and shopping. The room was very big for the 2 of us. The bathroom was shared but very clean. Hotel staff were very kind. Breakfast was served at the room, not a feast but well sufficient. A good value for money in the expensive Venice city.

Though the directions were well written as other reviews mentioned the door is not marked as a bed and breakfast. They were waiting for our arrival so this was not a problem also the address is clearly marked above the door. The rooms were very nice although it was Venice in August so it was quite hot. The area is perfect for exploring Venice on foot or by vapparetto. There is also a lot of nice shopping very close. The couple that runs it are very kind, welcoming and helpful. I would stay there again if I was going for a romantic vacation though I am not sure about the stairs for lots of children or those with difficulty walking.

Excellent B & B close to the Rialto Bridge which we cannot praise highly enough. The staff were very helpful & the rooms were cleaned daily & fresh towels provided every day. Breakfast is usually served from 08:30 to 11:00 but on our last morning we had to leave the B & B at 06:30 & they even made a special effort to serve us breakfast at 06:00! We would definately recommend the Santa Sofia to anyone wishing to visit this beautiful city.

I got off the train in Venice and it was pouring....took the water taxi....got off at the bridge....and it took barely 5 minutes to walk there.... soaked and cold....but we were greeted very warmly and offered coffee and tea. I decided to take a hot shower instead. The room was beautiful and emmaculately cleaned. The towels were folded and tied with a ribbon daily. It was very nice. Close to all...20 min from Piazza San Marco (unless you get lost or window shop...then 40 min) Breakfast was simple but sufficient (i couldn't finish it) I'd definately stay again. Oh....if you go to Venice don't take the water taxi to get around...walk...you'll find lost of good places to eat as well as some great gelateria...

Our stay was very good. However I don't think I realised from the info on the web page that we had to share a bathroom or that we didn't get a very substantial breakfast, although the bathroom was very clean - the owner went and cleaned it more than once daily.

This hotel is located close to the Rialto Bridge. The hotel is located on third floor of a building without an elevator the owner Faithi, was very nice and carried our baggage up the two steep flights of stairs. The room was very nice, clean and large. It consisted of two single beds, a large wardrobe, a dining table, and a refrigerator. The toilet is shared. There is a washing machine which we were allowed to use. The negative of this hotel was that we were not given clean towels daily, and the breakfast was smaller that we had received at the other hotels we had stayed at. The location was very close to everything. We were able to walk to most of the sites. This hotel did have a free WIFI internet connection available.

The room was large, clean, modern and comfy. Location could not be any better, especially given that we only paid something like 80 Euros a night. Directions were excellent and we had no problem finidng it. An easy 15-20 minute walk from the train station, and very close to Rialto bridge and vaporetto dock. On the down-side, we couldn't get a private bath, so we had to compete for bathroom time with other guests. The bathroom itself was at the other end of a long hallway. The lights were usually off in the hall, making for a dark commute. The host was very polite, if not exactly friendly. Breakfast was quite good. Our room overlooked an alleyway and a bar, so it was noisy until 3am on Saturday night and 1am Sunday night. I didn't mind it too much -- hell, I was in Venice and enjoyed people-watching out the window -- but some might. I would stay here again, but I would try to get a room with a private bath, away from the street.

This hotel is centrally located near the Rialto bridge and provides easy access to vaporetto, S. Marco, vaporetto, etc. It is located off a major walkway, so our room was noisy at night and we had to keep the windows shut. The innkeeper was pleasant and the room was spacious. The bathroom is clean and neat. The breakfast is served in the bedroom and was very simple consisting of toast and jam, juice and yogurt. It a good value for the heart of Venice.

Very good location - close to Rialto bridge. VERY friendly and welcoming owners. Simple (but more than just coffee - served to the room). Very good hints how to reach the property. We would stay there again. Dobra lokalizacja i przyjaźni gospodarze - niezłe wskazówki, o tym jak trafić. Jeśli ktoś nie chce tracić czasu na dojazdy w Wenecji - warto tu zanocować - 10 min. do Placu Św. Marka i 20 min. (na piechotę do dworca). Polecam

This B&B is small (3 or 4 rooms) but it's not too far away from Rialto Bridge (although you'll be difficult to find it due to complicated street of Venice). The staffs is very welcome, service is good, and the room is spacious, clean and comfortable.
