Nicola owns this B&B and he was awesome. Venice is a maze, no matter where you stay ... but he made sure to meet us at the water taxi, walk us to the B&B and point out landmarks for us to remember. It was a wonderful location - very quiet, and they have a great local neighborhood bar and a restaurant that we enjoyed each night we were there. Nicola also helped to arrange a private water taxi for us when we were leaving, as we had to head out at 5:00 a.m. when the regular water taxis weren't running yet. Nicola was wonderful with great stories of his grandfather and great recommendations for us. The location of the B&B was in a nice quiet neighborhood, and about a 10 minutes walk from St. Marks. As easy to get to as anything can be in Venice. The water taxi stations were close by. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and Nicola made things very easy for us. Would definitey stay there again !

The hotel is in a quiet area of Venice, but close to the public transport and the city centre. The patron was very friendly and hospitable. The room was clean, quiet and nicely furnished. I would certainly recommend this B&B to other travellers.

Highly recommended........Nicola was "above the call of duty" in assistance to a couple of tired tourists. His meeting our vaporeto [sp?] on arrival and escorting us during the first few hours were of GREAT help! Would we stay again?....in a heartbeat! Thanks again Nicola.

Group of four female adults (mothers and daughters. Nicola was an extremely good host. Venice can be rather confusing at first but Nicola had a very good knowledge of the city and how best to get around. He recommended some excellent restaurants and given that we were four females, he checked in on us every evening to see how our day went and whether we needed his assistance with our following day's itinerary. He was always available. We liked the location because it was not in the tourist area but within easy walking distance of the Grand Canal, San Marco Square and other water bus stops.

We received exactly what we needed. Although we arrived early morning before the room was ready, we were allowed to take shower. This was a real relief after 10 hours of night train ride. Nicola ( the owner ) explained me how to use coffee machine, so we could take tea or coffee in the afternoon when we came back from long walk through the town. The quality of breakfast was good. I think Nicola is paying attention to the taste and quality of the food he puts on the breakfast table.

We couldn't have felt more welcome. Nicola is one of the kindest and most likeable people we met on our trip. The B & B is quiet, comfortable, clean and situated within nice walking distance from the centre. Good value.

We became lost trying to find Oceano Mare, but we rang Nicola, who met us & helped with our cases. The rooms were comfortable, the breakfast was very good & Nicola, the owner, very helpful with information. We were close to the waterbuses and within walking distance of Piazza San Marco. Excellent!!

We would definitely recommend this small B&B to our friends & family. Rooms are new and it is very clean and the personalised service and helpful traveller hints (on coin laundry and places to see/eat etc.) provided by the owner (Nicola) is excellent. The Continental Breakfast was one of the best we experienced on our Europe trip. Overall great value for money considering the cost of other places in Venice.

Wonderful find hidden in the streets of Venice. Nicola is fantastic. He welcomed us warmly and helped us with all our needs. The two rooms were a nice size and we were even served a generous breakfast to our room. Nearby are cheaper and less touristy restaurants. It is a bit of a challenge to find your way through the lanes to the main area, but Nicola makes sure you are successful and once you figure it out, it takes about 5 minutes to Arsenale and another 5 minutes to San Marco square.

We were more than happy with this B & B, its location and the owners who were amazing!! They really could'nt have been more helpful!! Venice is an absolutely fabulous city and we would definately go back to the Oceano Mare if we went again!! We stayed in a delightful double room which was spotlessly clean as was the bathroom. Its a 10 - 15 min walk from the Vaperetto stop and we found it very easy to follow the map they supplied! We just loved it, it was "home from home"!!

To describe this place in 4000 few words is an impossible task. The main attraction of this place was Nicola(the owner) who is the loveliest person you can meet,he is kind, welcoming and very freiendly. He made us feel so welcome that we felt we were in our own home. He patiently explained the map and always answered our questions. The room was beautifully furnished and the bathroom was clean and brandnew. The staff cleaned the rooms everyday and we always returned to a sparkling clean room and bathroom. Breakfast was generous and the location was fabilous as it was only a five minute walk from St.Mark's Square and all forms of public transport. We are so happy about the choice we made and if we go to Venice again we will definitely go straight to the beautiful Oceano Mare and wonderful Nicola.

Venice is very expensive so finding a bed and breakfast like oceano mare was just a blessing!!!! reasonable price for an excellent service, location and quality. All the explanations received from Nicola were really useful and he showed us non touristic places in Venice!!! Thanks!!! it was our honeymoon and it was brilliant in Oceano Mare

Our host Nicola was extremely welcoming and helpful. Since we booked a "superior" room, we were served breakfast in our room every morning. Wow! And the breakfast was very generous. Since we stayed in the middle of the Costello neighborhood, and our room fronted on the street, it could get noisy at times, but it was just the noise people make living their lives. Overall we had a wonderful experience and would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Our stay in Venice was fabulous, especially thanks to Nicola in Oceano Mare Rooms (we had the superior room). Everything was perfect and we have already recommended his address! In the future, sure we will come back to Venezia which is fantastic, and we will come back to Oceano Mare : why changing when everything is perfect ?

What a fabulous B&B! Nicola was a wonderful host and the place was in a quaint section of Venice... we would go back in a second. There was much more room inside than I anticipated and the place has just been renovated within the last year - very clean and cozy. There are stairs, so one must be comfortable with that.

This was our first port of call on our holiday and it was great. Nice to stay a little bit away from the very busy tourist area of Venice and where locals lived. Nicola the host was a very helpful particularly with directions. The accommodation is easy to find if you stick to the directions. The room was spacious and airy particularly for European standards. Bed good with extra pillows.

Way off the beaten path, but who wants to be near the throng of tourists anyway? The nice thing is that it's just a short walk to Piazza San Marco and the Arsenale vaporetto stop. Nicola is a great host that is quite helpful. The place IS a little hard to find the first few times, but once you get the hang of it, it's a piece of cake. You'll feel like a local in no time. You can hang out at the local pub in Campo Do Pozzi and order a "spritz" (a local wine cooler type drink). A tip: If you are at the Arsenale stop and walk AWAY from Piazza San Marco, following the island's coast, you will find a street filled with important things like an affordable convenience store and relatively cheap restaurants. There are less tourits out this way I suppose. Just walk south towards the Giardini and when you cross over the second bridge (less than 5 minutes walk from Arsenale stop), you will see a big street that cuts into the island. Follow it and you will find a COOP supermarket with water and foods at local prices. Anyway, Oceano Mare is definitely recommended for the room size, the great air conditioning, and the "I'm a local" location. Down side: tiny bathroom. Very new, clean and shiny, but very tiny. The room is huge (actually it's a bedroom & small living room) so that makes up for it. Definitely recommend and definitely our first choice on our return to Venice someday.

Overall, our stay at the Oceano Mare was wonderful. The owner was very hospitable and accomodating and let us use the main phone line and internet whenever we needed it. For the price, the hotel is a great place to stay in Venice and would recommend it to others.

On our trip through Italy, we stayed at 3 different bed and breakfasts on different locations (one in Rome, one in Firenze and Oceano Mare in Venice), all booked using venere.com. Compared to the other bead and breakfasts, Oceano Mare is without doubt the number one! The owners excell in hospitality and are very helpfull and honest. The rooms are cosy and spacious, quiet and clean. The breakfast offered was more than one could wish for. We really would recommend this bed and breakfast to everyone who are searching for a nice and affordable place to stay in Venice. Thanks Nicola for making our stay so enjoyable and for all the help and good care!!
