Quiet surroundings and the 3-4-bed room is excellent and good value for money as Venice is very expecive. BUT, we can't recommend the double rooms! The last night our family had to leave the big room and stayed in 2 double bed rooms. We couldn't sleep at all that night! We heard EVERYTHING from the neigbours in the 3-4-bed room and every time they flushed the toilet or flushed water it sound like the Niagara Falls were in our room!

We very much enjoyed our stay at Oceano Mare. Nicola kindly explained all the interesting places to visit. He kindly came to the vaporetto station to meet us. It was a comfortable walking distance to visit the main tourist areas and a nice quiet area to rest in the evening. We liked the Arsenal entrance which is nearby. We also enjoyed the restaurants Nicola suggested situated close by like the Al Vecio Portal. This is the first time we stayed at Oceano Mare but we would definitely go again.

Perfect for our needs. Away from the hustle and bustle of Venice but close enough to the major attractions to walk everywhere. Nicola was great, met us at the water bus stop he suspected us to be at based on flight/bus time, which was a lifesaver because we didn't have the walking directions to the B&B from there and had no phone service in Europe. He was a wealth of knowledge about the city and how to get around. All accommodations are expensive in Venice, so I'm glad we were able to spend our money on other things rather than an overpriced hotel room.

The accommodation was exactly like we've imagined after reading the comments on the website but what was really more than we expected was Nicola, the owner. He was very nice and helpful, providing us with very useful information about Venice and surroundings. He is very funny telling all kind of stories. The accommodation is basic but very welcoming and cozy, around 15 minutes far from San Marco Square.

We and another couple made reservations to stay at Oceano Mare after reading the excellent reviews on this site. We were not disappointed. The two rooms we rented were spacious and clean. The area was quiet but a close walk to St. Mark's Square and two vaporetto stops. Nicola was a gracious and helpful host. He went out of his way to help us find a water taxi from the train station to an area near the B&B. Later he arranged a water taxi to take us to the airport for an early morning flight home. We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 day stay in fabulous Venice in May and wholeheartedly recommend Oceano Mare B&B. Thanks, Nicola. Vicki, Larry, Nancy & Phil,

We would definitely recommend this hotel to any other travelers. It is located in a living neighborhood, where you can "touch" the everyday life of the real Venetians, far from the crowded touristic streets. The conditions were very good, the room very nice and we really enjoyed the hospitality of the host - Nicola. He is a great professional, knows how to manage this cozy hotel and to provide the best service. He gives great tips where to spend your time and recommended us some very good restaurants, not touristic ones. We really liked this! The room was clean, comfortable and quite during night and day. The bathroom is large enough and well equipped - something which is hard to find at other properties in old Venice. The breakfast was very good. Everything was perfect, but what we liked most was the great attitude of Nicola! Thank you very much, veneziano!!! Cao, cao, cao, cao....

We loved our stay at Oceano Mare. It's in a great location. You're in a _residential_ area of Venice, away from the other tourists, but within easy walking distance to the Vaporetto Stop (Arsenale). The rooms are very nice, the beds are comfortable, and it's quiet at night! It's also nice to get breakfast downstairs before heading out. Nicola is an awesome host. He is _genuinely_ friendly and has some wonderful restaurant suggestions. I feel like we really have a friend in Venice now. He'll take great care of you! We'll definitely stay there again.

We had a wonderful stay in Venice, and thanks to Nicola (OceanoMareBB) for his kindness! He was very welcoming, and he told us anything we needed to know about what we should see, and how to get around. It was a little bit difficult to find OceanoMare, but that was because we were traveling in the dark, and Venice in generally have small gates. (Just look after the number 2703 for OceanoMare). We would strongly recommend OceanoMare because of the environment and Nicola. The room was great. Nice bed, nice bathroom, nice price, and we would definitely stay at OceanoMare next time we are in Venice.

I would highly recommend Oceano Mare. Nicola, the owner, is such a gracious host and one of the nicest people you will ever hope to meet. He met us at our water bus and carried our luggage, showing us the way to the B&B. He was so helpful with information and directions. He recommended a fabulous restaurant. The B&B is in a very quiet and very convenient location to all the attractions. Just a 10-minute walk to the Rialto Bridge and Piazza San Marco. It is very clean and comfortable. The breakfast every day was lovely. Such a lovely place to stay. Can't wait to go back.

We never stay and B&Bs. But I wanted to get an authentic feel for Venice, so thought a B&B back in the real neighborhoods (vs. the tourist traps) would deliver. It did. Nicola (owner) was a dear. He was very helpful with suggestions, directions. He even met our friends at the Vaporetti stop when they discovered they were coming in late. The breakfast was a nice selection and plentiful. The dining room was a bit small, but very charming. The surrounding neighborhood was great!!! there were shops and restaurants for the locals, so we knew we weren't being "gouged" on pricing. Everyone we encountered in the neighborhoods were very patient with our limited Italian. Lovely little cafe/bar around the corner. Friendly people. I loved the experience and would recommend it to anyone. Walking back to the tourist laden areas (St.Mark's and Rialto bridge) was not a long walk. The "chaos" in those areas also had it's charm.

We loved Oceano Mare - I think it was our favorite stop on our trip. We had 5 people in our party and booked two rooms. The triple room was actually a two room suite. We called Nicola and he met us at the vaparetto and walked us to the B&B, carefully pointing out landmarks along the way so that we could find our way back. I think it would have been very difficult to find otherwise. On the map it looks as if the B&B is far from St. Marks Square, but it is a very pleasant 10 minute walk. It is also very close to the vaparetto stop for Murano. Nicola also recommended a lovely restaurant nearby where we arguably had the best meal on our trip. The only negative I could see would be that there are stairs to all the rooms so if you have trouble with stairs, this would not be the place to stay. I would recommend Oceano Mare to everyone else.

It is the best B&B during our 20-day Italy trip. Nicola is the most friendly B&B host you will ever meet. The location is fantastic - it's not touristy at all and you get a chance to observe how real Venetians live their life, yet it's a few minutes walk to touristy spots. We had a great time staying here. It's also fun to chat with Nicola - he is a talented musician himself and has done a few different things before running this B&B.

Nicola owns this B&B and he was awesome. Venice is a maze, no matter where you stay ... but he made sure to meet us at the water taxi, walk us to the B&B and point out landmarks for us to remember. It was a wonderful location - very quiet, and they have a great local neighborhood bar and a restaurant that we enjoyed each night we were there. Nicola also helped to arrange a private water taxi for us when we were leaving, as we had to head out at 5:00 a.m. when the regular water taxis weren't running yet. Nicola was wonderful with great stories of his grandfather and great recommendations for us. The location of the B&B was in a nice quiet neighborhood, and about a 10 minutes walk from St. Marks. As easy to get to as anything can be in Venice. The water taxi stations were close by. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and Nicola made things very easy for us. Would definitey stay there again !

Group of four female adults (mothers and daughters. Nicola was an extremely good host. Venice can be rather confusing at first but Nicola had a very good knowledge of the city and how best to get around. He recommended some excellent restaurants and given that we were four females, he checked in on us every evening to see how our day went and whether we needed his assistance with our following day's itinerary. He was always available. We liked the location because it was not in the tourist area but within easy walking distance of the Grand Canal, San Marco Square and other water bus stops.

Nicola ( the owner ) explained me how to use coffee machine, so we could take tea or coffee in the afternoon when we came back from long walk through the town. The quality of breakfast was good. Wonderful find hidden in the streets of Venice. Nicola is fantastic. He welcomed us warmly and helped us with all our needs. Way off the beaten path, but who wants to be near the throng of tourists anyway? The nice thing is that it's just a short walk to Piazza San Marco and the Arsenale vaporetto stop. Nicola is a great host that is quite helpful. The place IS a little hard to find the first few times, but once you get the hang of it, it's a piece of cake. You'll feel like a local in no time. You can hang out at the local pub in Campo Do Pozzi and order a "spritz" (a local wine cooler type drink). A tip: If you are at the Arsenale stop and walk AWAY from Piazza San Marco, following the island's coast, you will find a street filled with important things like an affordable convenience store and relatively cheap restaurants. There are less tourits out this way I suppose. Just walk south towards the Giardini and when you cross over the second bridge (less than 5 minutes walk from Arsenale stop), you will see a big street that cuts into the island. Follow it and you will find a COOP supermarket with water and foods at local prices. Anyway, Oceano Mare is definitely recommended for the room size, the great air conditioning, and the "I'm a local" location. Down side: tiny bathroom. Very new, clean and shiny, but very tiny. The room is huge (actually it's a bedroom & small living room) so that makes up for it. Definitely recommend and definitely our first choice on our return to Venice someday.

It is a great little B&B, very nice and quiet. Nicola, the owner is very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately I had to cut my stay short because of family emergency and Nicola went really above and beyond trying to help me in this situation. I would definitely recomend this establishment
