Very friendly host family, and comfortable accommodation. We enjoyed staying a short distance from the centre of town, and visiting restaurants and bars recommended by our hosts. The directions to the home provided by our host were very good, and we had no trouble finding the house.

Marcus and his wife were so welcoming, informative and helpful. Enjoyable breakfast on terrace however more variety of food over an extended stay would have been ideal.

Newly updated, this B&B was very spacious and clean. The owners were a young couple renting out rooms and were very friendly. Its located in a quite residential area and is nice to get away from the crazy city area at the end of the day. There are some really great local restaurants with delicious seafood on the menu worth trying. We suggest taking the vapourato to Madonna Del Orto rather than walking though the maze like streets upon arrival. Its difficult to find your way with baggage on foot.

It was joy to spend our three days in Venice at Cassa Baseggio. Marco was an amazing host, giving us a brief orientation of where we were in regards to the rest of Venice and how to get to the sights. Casa Baseggio is off the tourist trail so you can enjoy your stay away from a majority of the tourists but your still only a few minutes from the Rialto Bridge. The room was clean and comfortable and the bathroom was clean and modern. We were there just after Christmas and the place was truly magical. Thank you again Marco we hope to see you in the not too distant future. Neil & Gina

This B&B was in the Cannareggio district...fabulous location, just a bit out of the main tourist area, so we were able to wander around the streets and over canals without being jostled. Easy to find with great directions that were sent to us. I loved this place....Marco, our host, was generous with information about Venice, and restaurants especially. Breakfast on the balcony was lovely...I'm glad we didn't need to eat in our room....although it would have accommodated it well enough. I would definitely come back to stay here.!!

Casa Baseggio deserves a "10" rating. Tucked away in a quiet residential part of Venice, it has all the charm and character one could wish for. Marco and his wife, Allesandra, were wonderful hosts from the moment we arrived. And Marco's recommendations about what to see, where to eat, best way to get to all parts of Venice made our walking tour so easy. You could not ask for a better place to stay than Casa Baseggio. Thank You, Marco. Mary Sloan and Scott Dressel.

My husband and I stayed 3 nights, Oct 25-28 as an extension to a cruise vacation. The directions provided to the B&B were excellent and we had no trouble finding our way. We found Marco to be most gracious and pleasant. The building adjoining the B&B was currently undergoing renovation. Marco had negotiated with the construction crew to begin at 9:30 am with the removal of the marble floor so that our morning would not be disturbed. Breakfast on the terrace, though a bit chilly, was warmed by the beauty of the surroundings. Our superior room was spacious and had all the accommodations needed. Marco was very helpful with offering restaurants, things to see in this community and with suggestions to make our trip to the airport go smoothly. We would highly recommend his B&B to others visiting Venice and desiring to stay in a lovely area of Venice.

The couple that run the house are very nice and accommodating. It was unfortunate that the house next door is being totally refurbished, meaning that we were woken up every moring at 8 am with banging and drilling. I think we should have been informed of this situation as the work is on going for a whole year.

We were very desapointed not to have seen Marco Baseggio during our stay (4 nights)! He asked a young man speaking a very bad english and monosyllabic to receive us and to prepare the breakfast(not very good and only frozen bread). It was impossible to have a conversation with him, and the bed was made only twice!!! The room is quite nice and confortable and quiet.

We love Casa Baseggio! It's clean, cozy, comfortable and convenient. Breakfast was served in an open-air patio where you could enjoy the scenery of beautiful garden while having variety of authentic Venetian bread. This place is closed to all the best Venetian eateries in Cannaregio. The trick is to listen to the B&B owner carefully and he would tell you where are the best places for food! (Make sure you eat a lot of polenta!) We have recommended this place to all the families and friends who'd like to visit Venice and hoped to go back there ourselves.

We are a family with two children (3 and 7). For us Casa Baseggio was a great choice. Quiet, spacious, modernized. The hosts are very friendly and they serve a nice breakfast on their own apartment's terrace in the back of the house, which is a great place to start the day (a wonderful garden is behind the house). Although not in one of the main areas of Venice, it is withing minutes of reaching the Rialto area and far from the crowds for a good night's sleep and a pleasant evening. If we go back to Venice (and I am determined to do that since 3 days was not enough for me), we will most likely go to Casa Baseggio again. We recommend it to anyone. While we were there, we saw two or three other couples in the house. But we only met them at breakfast. It is a great experience and we really appreciated the friendliness, cleanness, and great feeling of the place.

They have two rooms, the downstairs one is more like staying in an apartment. There is a separate bedroom, a living room, a bathroom and a kitchen. It is a large amount of space and very nice. It is located in a very quiet neighborhood. The owner is a very friendly man who speaks excellent english. The first day he greeted us and let us into the room even though we were early. He showed us how everything worked and let us settle in before we went up stairs where he gave us a map with restaurants listed on it. He told us about them and made suggestions and gave us price ranges that a meal at each would cost. We ate at two of the ones he suggested and they were both great, we had wonderful experiences at each one and they were more authentic local places than a lot of the ones you come across. At one they did not speak english, but it was one of the best experiences we had. They were bringing food out of the kitchen to show us what some of the things on the menu were. We had breakfast at the B and B each morning on the patio and it was very nice, a great setting. The only issue we had at all was when a couple with children stayed above us we could hear them in the morning. Other than that it was a great place to stay.

We really enjoyed our stay here! The room was very comfortable and the breakfasts were elaborate and tasty. We were welcomed with a nice orientation to the city by a very knowledgeable and friendly host with excellent English. The one drawback was the location- a slightly longer walk to main attractions than some other places, but certainly doable. We would definitely stay here again.

B&B deserves high rates: beautiful place in Kanneredgo with fantastic aura (if you happened to read Venecian detective story “Tician’s Testament – you should visit it). It has great view to monastery yard from the balcony (the breakfast is served on the balcony by the way). Marco (the host) is very nice, speaks English and can give you proper recommendations. We had nice room with fully equipped kitchen

This is really a very good stay. It is in a quiet, peaceful neighbourhood in Cannaregio. Beautiful canals around. You are in the real Venice where the citizens live and work. In a short walk you are at all the touristic scenes. The owner is very helpfull, in a good way. No pressure or something like that. Spacious rooms in this little bed and breakfast. A good breakfast (not the Italian way!). Well recommended.

Bref si on doit y revenir, Casa Baseggio sera notre premier choix.

My husband and I spent 2 weeks in Italy. This was our favorite stop. The room had a lot of character. The owners were very helpful. The breakfast included fresh croissants delivered fresh from the local bakery and great coffee served on the outdoor patio. The location is wonderful- away from the crowds but within walking distance to all that Venice has to offer. We had a beautiful stay.

We are sure our stay in Venice would not have been as memorable if we had stayed at a hotel in the middle of the city. Our room was larger than we had expected and with a kitchen! The spa bath was glorious, especially after walking all day. Our host Marco even mapped out nearby restaurants and priced them for us so we weren’t inadvertently surprised! We ate breakfast in a room of the home which was beautiful and we were joined by another couple from Denmark which just added to the experience. The shutters on the windows topped off the experience! We couldn’t recommend it more highly. If you want a hotel experience stay in a hotel, this was quiet, welcoming and away from all the hustle and yet only minutes from the heart of the centre.

I had read others' recommendations and found Marco at CasaBeseggio just as welcoming and helpful as described. The location, even though you must walk about 12 minutes to it, was wonderful, residential and quiet, but close to the main shopping streets and restaurants of that quarter. It was only a short walk to the water bus stop that takes you anywhere you want to go in Venice. Breakfast was adequate with fresh croissants and rolls, cereals, yogurt, etc.The rooms were spotless and airy. It was too cool in the mornings for breakfast on the terrace, but it looked inviting. Marco was very helpful and we felt as if we had a friend in a foriegn city. I would definately stay there again!

Casa Baseggio seemed perfectly situated in a quiet residential area of Cannareggio but just 10 minutes' stroll from Ca D'Oro vaporetto stop. We arrived rather late one Saturday night, but Marco welcomed us warmly, and served an excellent breakfast with a smile every morning on the sunny terrace. Our double room on the ground floor turned out to be a self-contained flat with a fully equipped kitchenette - very good value! We couldn't have wished for a better place to stay.

We stayed a weekend in Venice and Casa Baseggio. Our superior room was spacy and nicely furnished. Beautiful bath and even a kitchenette (was not mentioned in description). Casa Baseggio is situated off the beaten track in a very nice un-touristy area but close by everything you need to see. Marco gave us good restaurant recommandations (good quality, good prices) and tips how best to visit Venice in 1.5 days. Breakfast was served on the terrace. This was a little weird as you had to ring the bell of his private appartement, walk through his kitchen and step onto the terrace where the breakfast table was set. Coffee/Tee was being served and then the door was shut behind you until you were ready to leave again. It is clear (and basically understandable) that Marco wants to keep strangers away from his wife and baby and he was always very nice and very polite about it, but it was a strange feeling. Also, it was little coolish outside and maybe it would have been better to have the breakfast in our room (which is the done thing when it is raining). However, you have a beautiful view from the terrace and it is very peaceful. Just a strange feeling to be shut out...

The rooms were spotless, great bathrooms, everything that we needed (including hair dryer, tea & coffee facilities etc). Really enjoyed our four nights... Marco is lovely and welcoming, breakfast on the veranda was a beautiful spot and a great start to a day of sightseeing. Being in Cannaregio district it was away from all the crowds, which was great since we were staying in August! We had a great stay there! Very nice, clean and quiet room (with air condition)! Marco was very friendly and made very tasty (and lots of) caffè for breakfast. However, a broader choice for breakfast would have been nice. But for italian conditions it was really fine (juice, coffee, two different kinds of rolls, cookies, butter, one type of marmelade, fresh cheese - and a lovely terrace to start in the day!). We were provided with a list of nice restaurants, recommendations where to go and what to see. The B&B is located not too far from boat stops and provides an excellent location plan. There's no better way to stay for exploring Venice! Thank you, Marco!

We greatly enjoyed our stay here. It was quick and easy to locate from the Grand Canal (following maps provided on their web site), about 10 minutes walk. That small distance, however, takes you out of the tourist area and puts you into the real Venice. The owners were very welcoming, and were quick to help us locate good restaurants and navigate around town. The owners also provided us with some much appreciated help when we had any difficulties; the same level of assistance that you might ask from your family (but only if you have a very nice family).

We had a hard time finding the room because we came from the Grand Canal side. Not recommended to come from that direction with luggage! The breakfast was lovely - as was the room. We missed our checkout time and made the host nervous, so I wouldn't recommend you do that. The B&B was in a very quiet neighborhood with just a few eating establishments nearby. Our host gave us good recommends for eating. Breakfast was wonderful. Bed was comfy.

Marco and Alessandra were warm and delightful hosts and we really enjoyed our four nights at their B&B. The location is a bit off the beaten path, but we felt we were living among real Venetians. The bedroom was immaculately clean and roomy and the bathroom was also great. We were there in winter and the room was well heated. Marco made delicious coffee with a tasty breakfast. He also suggested some excellent nearby restaurants and a friendly neighborhood wine bar. He was very helpful in helping us to plan our visit to Venice's sights and other islands in the lagoon. All in all, Casa Bassegio was the very best place we stayed during our 15 days in Italy and we highly recommend it.
