I had a ground floor room that flooded and ruined a lot of my electronics with the high water in December. The hotel owners were very helpful and my losses were at least partially covered by them. In spite of this I would go back, perhaps a second floor room!

Our second time in Venice, traveling as a couple. We stayed in a standard double room. Although its position for access to water transport, food, ice cream, shops and St Marks was excellent it also gave you total peace and get away from the busy bussle that is Venice. It was comfortable relaxed and great value for money whilst still retaining the Venice feel We were fortunate enough to experience a high tide flood in St Marks on an evening .... Magical!! Check tide levels before you book well worth considering. I would not hesitate to recommend it.....in fact within 2 days of been back home already have.

I had a wonderful stay there and I can not say anything bad about it. The room was stylish, nice, had new and soft towels, nice beds, beautiful furniture and ceiling lamps and the bathroom has a nice bath. You can see all the effort and hard work to turn the place into something special. Very close to the Piazza San Marco and nice places to walk around. As suggestion to the owner, it's to add a cuttle and bags of tea inside the room. I am rating this place 10 out of 10. If they provide English Tea in the room, I would give the place 10+++. Definitely want to go back and already recommended it to a friend that wants to go to Venice soon. The owner David is very helpful too, giving information about the best places to go and being very welcoming and polite. Thanks for everything. Really good value for money.

Rating the public area is hardly applicable, it has a small but adequate are to eat breakfast outside. VFM money was good, the room was a very good size for three of us sharing, tons of storage too. The only real let down was that the shower was not attached to the rail which meant it had to be held. Standard of decor etc in Shower room was v good. and it was all v clean. This is a simple hotel, if you want glamour, go elsewhere. If you want somewhere reliable and comfy to sleep in, then perfect. nice enough location, not too far from the hoards and I'd go back as its a safe bet. We emailed before hand and the receptionist came to the waterside and to wait for us. If you miss him, make sure you use their directions - they worked!

This hotel is a total rip off. When we arrived, they told us they had no rooms available, and they brought us to a shitty appartment a few minutes away. When we treatened them to go to the police, they offered us a discount. Finally we ended up in a new hotel, not as good either. Please eliminate this gangster-ruled hotel from your database. Be sure we will make very bad press from it, and that we want some kind of compensation for the nightmare that we had to pass.

Here is the web site description: "Within the maze of typical Venetian lanes and squares of the most authentic Venice region, 5 minutes from the marvelous St. Mark's Square and Doge's Palace, Ca' Valeri welcomes its Guests like a luxury residence or a boutique hotel within the warmth of an antique private home where an atmosphere of charm and comfort define an ambience of class." The "boutique" and "luxury" comparisons are ludicrous. It is indeed on a maze of lanes, in an unattractive, obscure location, not as close to San Marco as advertised. The directions are poor; it is closer to the Arsenale vaporetto stop than the one recommended.

The complimentary breakfast was lacking in any type of quality. No fresh fruit or any cheese. The coffee was fresh and cappacino, and the two tasteless dinner rolls. Watery orange juice--one small glass per person and two tightly plastic packaged starches--one a small soggy croissant, and the other two dru toast/biscuits. One pat of butter and sample size jam. That was it every day.

Brilliant little hotel! Excellent location - only 5-10 mins walk to St Marks square. Lots of good restaurants and amenities on you doorstep. Breakfast was better than suggested, it is served in a beautiful little courtyard, with fresh rolls & coffee. Simple but effective! My only small grumbles were that the fridge in the room didn't work and the air-conditioning didn't cool the room much. Lovely modern bathroom, spotlessly clean, helpful staff. You were given your own key to let yourself in in the evenings. Overall really good value for money with a great location & charm. Would love to go back!

It was a surprise from the beginning to the end. The room was spacious and clean, of excellent taste, the bathroom was clean as a whistle. Breakfast was small and not rich, but it was served to you at the table. The host was kind and forthcoming. The hotel is something like 5 minutes away from San Marco by foot, and 2 minutes away from all the major seaborn routes. Exceptional choice for couples and small groups, but really very good for just about anyone.

Excellent small hotel, although difficult to find and strangly a lock door on arrival answered by the owner via an intercom who let us in and told us to pick up our keys on the reception desk and where our room was again via intercom. Met him the following morning when breakfast was delivered to the room as it was too cold to eat in the normal area i.e outside in a small courtyard. Room lovely with fabric wall coverings and a stunning bathroom Very quiet and only 5 minutes from St Marks and the waterfront A lovely intimate hotel

We arrived at Ca'Valeri to be met by a man who showed us our room,he told me they are not in the hotel every day but most days so I didnt really like the fact there was no one there, and despite my paperwork saying breakfast was included it was not, my heart sank as we were walked up the road to a separate building and shown our room with no windows, the shower was completely broken and there was a very strong & strange smell, which they had tried to cover with many strong air freshener, I explained I didn't think this was very good and he offered to go and check if he could move us into the main hotel. We were moved and put in a much more glamorous room with a jacuzzi bath which my son thought was amazing fun. The room was very ornate and completely different to the room we were put in at first. He assured me he would not charge me more. We ordered a breakfast the next morning, at 5 euros each we were hoping for something quite good, whilst it was delivered to the room at a time you wanted, it was a coffee and a cold croissant and some of the toasted bread in a bag, no juice , nothing warm. So we didn't wish to bother again, one morning I asked for a coffee and some biscuits and was charged 10 euros on departure for this. Also when I went to pay My credit card had already been charged for one night despite venere saying it would not. The room was very clean, cleaned daily with fresh towels which after a heavy day walking is wonderful, its very quiet and in a nice area that is very accessible and full of locals. There is many nice coffee shops within moments walk and venice is better for exploring all the back streets anyway. This has the potential to be a great bed and breakfast but they need to be a bit clearer about the alternative rooms and the sparse breakfast.

We stayed in an excellent "typical" Venetian room. Breakfast was served in the room which was great. The staff were extremely friendly and on arrival gave us an extensive brief of the sights of Venice. The only drawback was that even with a satnav indicating the location, we still had to ask where the hotel was, as it was down a very narrow alley, but a overall great place to stay, 5 minutes walk from St Mark's Square and excellent value for money.

We had visited venice before. This time we spent 5 days at hotel Locanda Ca'Valeri. Max and David are very welcoming, helped with our laguage as there is no lift, our room was upgraded to a very spacious room with a new bathroom. Max gave us the name of a very good restaurant. Location very good. The directions and map could have been a little bit more clearer. Breakfast very basic, but good. We would stay here again.

It's a little hotel with a really nice atmosphere. Rooms are big, forniture and decoration are very beautiful, in perfect Venician style. Bath with tube. The position is also very nice, just 10 minutes walking from San Marco, in a very quiet area of the city, close to boat stops. Staff very friendly and polite. To improve only the breakfast, simple but still decorous.

Very nice place, especially for the money. Jacuzzi in room is awesome. You also get TV and a safe in room. Staff was nice and helpful. Only problem was being given a poor map of the city(black and white, hard to read, at every other hotel in Italy got a nice colored map). Overall, great place to stay, would definitely return if ever back in Venice.

There was no one available at the front desk to let us in for over an hour after we arrived at the front door. The breakfast was packets of crackers and instant coffee, with bread in sealed plastic wrappers. The hotel was almost empty of staff. The only time we ever saw anybody manning the front desk was the night before we left. We used that opportunity to settle the bill. I would call this hotel "Self-Serve."

How to reach Ca' Valeri Bed and Breakfast

From motorways follow direction Venice. One of the two covered parking lots in Venice is on the Tronchetto Island. Right at the end of Ponte della Libertà, the bridge that connects Venice to the mainland, at the stoplight take a right turn and follow the indications for Tronchetto. The Hotel is approximately two kilometres away and may be reached by a taxi motorboat, or eventually the public vaporetto.
The other parking lot, Garage San Marco, is in Piazzale Roma. Instead of turning right at the streetlight, stay on the road and continue straight.
From the car park, go to the waterbus station on the canal, take the waterbus line 1 (after 10 p.m. there is a N night line, tickets are available on board). Get off at the San Zaccaria stop, walk along the promenade after the monument with a horse, go on and take the small Calle del Doge after hotel Metropole and reach the Campo Bandiera e Moro square. Exit the square diagonal in the corner in front of you to enter into the large street with the fountain, and take the street with the yellow sign up in the corner, then first left. The door is 20 metres ahead.
