This is an excellent choice for anyone who wants to be in a very good location, but *not* in the peak touristy area. Walking along the lagoon side of the island (south side), this place is about 10 minutes walk east of the most crowded region around San Marco. And that's really a good thing. Via Garibaldi, on which the B&B is located is, in itself, an interesting street, with many shops, restaurants, stores, and a nice park. It feels a bit more relaxed and residential, and it's a pleasure to return to that slightly slower pace after contending with the mobs of the San Marco area. As for the accommodation itself? It was very good. The apartment has a nice bathroom, a decent sized living room with a clean kitchen that has all the amenities you'd need to prepare meals (we did make some of our own meals, shopping at the local markets). There are two air conditioners, and they worked very well, keeping the rooms cold and comfortable. There's a small balcony that you can't really stand on, but you can look out at a small bridge and a small canal. It was quiet. The managers of the B&B are actually in another residence just a block or so away, so you are not living in their home - you have your own space that is 100% yours. They did not provide breakfast, but this wasn't a problem, and was not included in the price. I found the managers to be very generous and considerate, and they helped accommodate our needs, and also made several very good restaurant recommendations in the area. The *only* negatives I can note, and I am really stretching for it, are the following: 1) if you don't like to walk much at all, you may not be happy with the 15 minutes walk to San Marco, but we preferred it, and found there was a lot to see along that walk, and worth being a little bit removed. 2) Just outside the entrance to the apartment, there is a fish market. When you are on the street outside, you can smell the fish market. You cannot smell it when you're in the apartment. But

The apt. is very nice for four people. It's beautiful and was recently updated. It was very clean and also a great location. It was a pleasant and direct 15 min walk to St. Marks square and the main shopping area. There is a grocery store right across the street. The downside was lots of stairs (and the last flight is steep and narrow) to get to the room. We didn't mind the stairs but a lot of people might. I was dissapointed because although the appartment has a very nice kitchen, when you get there, they tell you your not allowed to cook in it except for breakfast. The breakfast was nice but it was just breads and a yogurt. But they were warmed and presented nicely. Then you make coffee or hot chocolate in the kitchen. They give you juice. It was nice but everywhere else we stayed also had meat cheese cereal breads and fruit so it seemed lacking in comparison. The owner was very nice (He recommended a nice affordable pizza place and restaurant) and his wife was elegant and charming.

We stayed at the apartment, not at the bed and breakfast, and were very pleased with our stay. The whole apartment was sparkling-clean, the room was big, with a Cal King bed (very firm) and a twin bed, which we did not use. The kitchenette looks like it was recently remodeled, it is fully equipped and in excellent condition and more than it made up for the lack of breakfast service at the apartment, since there is a supermarket within a few yards of the apartment, and we bought all our breakfast necessities there. Please make sure you travel with light luggage as there are two narrow flights of stairs to be managed to get to the apartment, but other than that this is a great place to stay if you are travelling on a budget, but are looking for a comfortable, modern place to go back to after a long day of sightseeing.

Ca' Alexander was the perfect location for visiting the Biennale and staying out of the crazy tourist hustle and bustle while still being near it! It felt like I had my own apartment in the city, with supermarkets, fruit markets, fishmongers and meat markets right outside my door. Couldn't ask for more! I would definitely stay here again for another trip for the Biennale. Fantastic!

there was no breakfast at all, so we should call bed only... it is like a apart room... the room was clean and spacious... the picture of the place and the one we stayed are not the same, last minute surprise but did not create problem as the alternative room and the place was ok... 15 minutes walk to san marco...

Sabrina and her family were very welcoming. The apartment that we stayed in was lovely and spacious with a view of a little canal from the window. The location is perfect, away from the crowds but still close enough to walk to from San Marco. Only negative - the breakfast of pre-packaged pastry for day 1 only was a bit disappointing but an overall great choice for price vs quality.

We stayed in a quad room at this B&B. It was lovely and the owners were friendly and very helpful. There is a large bedroom with king size bed & 2 twin beds. There is also a kitchen if you want to make your own meals. (They leave breakfast for you in the morning, sweet rolls, juice, yogurt & coffee). There's also a great balcony that looks over the street. We thought this was a wonderful place and would definitely stay there again. There are approximately 45 stairs to get to the room (probably 10 from street level, 10 to the next level and about 28 up to the apartment). We pack light, so it wasn't a problem for us, it was definitely worth it. The location was also great, walking distance to everything and water transportation just a short walk away.

This is an extraordinarily wonderful place to stay. The accomodation is beautiful and the family to whom it belongs is extremely kind and welcoming. This is B&B accommodation on a completely different level to anything I have seen before. Uniquely in my experience, there is excellent lighting, throughout the flat - which you have all to yourself, the B&B title notwithstanding. There are gleaming granite floors, a handsome carpet and two very comfortable rather glamorously covered settees. There is a brand new bathroom, which is extremely stylish and includes a gleaming heated towel rail, a powerful shower and a "designer" basin unit. The bedroom is enormous, with a huge very high quality bed, vast cupboards for hanging your clothes and a very nice old chest of drawers. We stayed for the week leading up to New Year's day, but in fine weather, the terrace balcony must be wonderful. The heating in the flat works very well and there is also an airconditioner of an excellent type that I recognise from other stays in Italy. In addition to the large telly and music system, there is a small collection of English language paperbacks. There are also very nice Japanese prints on the wall. Alexander Lazzari and his son-in-law, Fabio are gondoliers, which it would be hard not to find very romantic. With Mrs. Lazzari and their daughter, Sabrina who corresponded with us prior to our stay, when we were worrying about the Aqua Alta, all four of them could not have been kinder and each of them went far out of his or her way to help us. This is the most excellent place that I have ever stayed anywhere. I could not recommend it more highly.

This charming apartment was in a quiet area of Venice with lots of markets, restaurant choices and scenery close by. A short walk to St. Marks Square and very safe and pleasant area full of local action. We loved being able to buy fresh fish from the market and have a light dinner in our room rather than spending the money on a restaurant. The kitchen was fully equipped and the owners were so friendly and welcoming.

This B & B far exceeded my expectations! It is the perfect escape from the mobs of tourists that roam Venice, as it is located in a residential neighborhood (but still an easy walk to the main sights) and has the terrace where you can relax, look out over the rooftops of the city, or watch life on the street below. The bedroom is very spacious, and there is also a small living room with TV and a kitchen. If I were to return to Venice I wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else.

We stayed at Ca' delle Ancore, one of Ca' Alexander's apartments. First of all, the description matched its real state and condition well. All furnishings, appliances, and fixtures were clean, in good shape and worked well. Second, the location is great. During our visit to Venice, we endeavored to be un-tourists as much as possible: staying at an apartment, shopping for groceries and whatnots in the neighborhood shops - and a produce boat! - sampling truly venetian dishes (cuttlefish with squid ink sauce over polenta - increadible!), getting lost and asking locals for directions, strolling in the park and watching a mini-futbal game on a Friday night - all these things are possible only away from Piazza San Marco... Still, you are not too far away from the main tourist attractions, an easy walk or a short waterbus ride. But after a long day of sightseeing, wondering back streets, countless ice cream cones, and overwhelming crowds, it was such a pleasure to come back to our apartment in Costello and relax in undisturbed peace. Now, you have to be reasonably realistic. The apartment is small, one can hear neighbors at times, and there is no view from either of the windows. If these things start to bother you, remind yourself that you are in an old European city where the people live in close quarters and pretty street views do often come with the late-night/early morning street noise... Over all, we loved staying at Ca' delle Ancore and would do it again. Thank you, Lazzari family for their hard work and welcoming hospitality!

Sabrina and her family were very welcoming and trully a lovely family. The apartment was clean and delightful, there wasn't much of a view but we trully were not in our room very much so that didn't matter. It was quiet as well and situated outside the touristy zones next to a beautiful park. We stayed in Venice only 2 nights and it took an hour to get to venice from the airport, I would trully stay longer and I would stay here again.

This place was out of this world!!! It was absolutely perfect! There are a lot of stairs leading to the room with the terrace but thats what happens if you want amazing views over the lagoon! I only gave Competence of Employees a 9 because the owners mother didn't speak any English (which is my fault for not speaking Itailian really as I'm in her country!) however it made things a little difficult when we needed anything or when she wanted us to do something, although this wasn't often. Breakfast was left for us at 8am on the dot every morning, fresh juice, warm pastries and even cakes, which I didn't fancy so early but my boyfriend did! The local restaurants are lovely but not that much cheaper than ones further along towards St. Marks, try San Giorgio which is on the Lagoon front heading towards St. Marks, the food is amazing and its own away from the crowds, not expensive and great service!!

I've been to Venice many times and this was by far the best. I have family in Italy and staying at the Ca'Alexander made me feel like I was staying with family in Venice. The place was beautiful, the view was incredible, and the location was away from the crazy tourist center. Fabio and Sabrina were very helpful and we had a couple meetings on the street where we stopped to talk and discuss the day, or train schedule, or just to say hi. One night in the apartment we cooked our own dinner in the well equipped kitchen and watched boats go by in the canal, and people walking home over the bridge. It was an incredible experience.

A perfect 10 for Ca'Alexander. Everything we read in the Venere reviews about how wonderful this B&B was for previous guests is absolutely true. Immaculately clean apartment. Spacious rooms. Sipping wine on the balcony with a view of the Grand Canal and local street life. Fresh, warm pastries arriving every morning for breakfast. The host Alessandro and hostess Sabrina are very gracious and welcoming. Ca'Alexander is located in the charming Castello district, yet near the Piazza San Marco (easily walkable in fifteen minutes or reachable very quickly by the vaporetto), but well enough away from the noise and congestion of tourist activity. The photos of the B&B are very accurate, but actually seeing the apartment is still a remarkable surprise, and then walking out on the balcony is even more impressive. On the Via Garibaldi where the B&B is located are several fun restaurants with fine food at reasonable prices, a supermarket called COOP, a gelateria, fresh fruit and vegetable stands, all adding up to life among the locals. Finding Ca' Alexander can be challenging, so as you walk along Via Garibaldi away from the Grand Canal, look for the supermarket COOP on your left. Once you have found it, backtrack several steps to the first, very obscure little entrance with a flag three stories over it, on the same side as COOP, that leads off the street between two buildings into a back court. The first door on your left will be the main door to the B&B. Ring the bell, open the door to an inner courtyard, and you are on your way to a magical stay. Be ready for the shower experience of a lifetime; Alessandro plans to enlarge the bathroom in the near future, but in the meantime, taking a shower is tight, but a real hoot. We have already recommended Ca'Alexander to our relatives who will be visiting Venice in a few months; they are anxious to experience the same fine stay that we had. Bravo, Alessandro and Sabrina! We shall return.

We were very positively impressed with Ca'Alexander. We stayed in their apartment, which is up the road. Conceptually, the only thing that is important to point out is that (at least if you stay in the apt) this is NOT a B&B but a self catering apartment. That said, it is top class, newly renovated, spotless, and all kitchen utensils/equipment top quality. The bedroom is spacious, linen high quality, and high standard. The family that runs it is very nice and helpful, and provides the essentials on day of arrical (milk, sugar, etc). The area (close to Arsenale and Biennale) is great, the street is nice with good restaurants, and 15 minute walk from St. Marks. The Apt itself is completely quiet, with AC, but we just kept the windows open. We know where we'll book when we're back!

Overall, this is a very good deal in a very nice location. The area is 15 minutes' walk from Piazza San Marco, but is residential enough to be quieter than most. It's easy to get to via vaporetto (though there's a ten-minute walk after you get off, which in one direction involves hauling luggage over two bridges - but then that's Venice). The only negative about our stay was that we booked the apartment partly based on it having a balcony and canal view; when we arrived, that part of the place had a major plumbing problem and so was not available. These things happen, but since this was a major reason for our booking Ca'Alexander it would have been nice if they had offered to take a little off the 100 Euro a night rate to compensate. That said, the family were very friendly, the apartment was clean and pleasant (if rather too modern for our historical leanings), and the location was great. A tip on directions: take the vaporetto (#41, or if you have time and want to see the entire Grand Canal first, the #1) to Arsenale, walk right over two small bridges and you come to the bottom end of Via Garibaldi (300-400 m from the vaporetto stop). The alley to the family's apartment (which is where you check in but not where you actually stay) is located about 300 m down Via Garibaldi, on the left between a pharmacy and a parfumeria (under a Venetian flag, which may well be draped around the pole and thus not easily visible). If you get to the point where you hit a small canal, you've gone about 150 m too far!

Perfect place to stay whilst in Venice. Close enough to easily access major tourist locations and just far enough away to feel as though you are truly experiencing Venetian life in quiet neighbourhood. Lovely warm welcome upon arrival, great communication and attention to detail was flawless. We stayed three nights and whilst the stairs to the top floor apartment were not ideal with our 10 month old, the wonderful hosts went out of their way to ensure there were no accidents with our baby. Would return to this magical city in a heartbeat.

Fantastico.. If you want to stay just outside the tourist crunch in a really nice neighborhood with a park and great family / people watching - this is the place. The hosts were gracious and kind - and helpful ( Sabrina speaks great English too) Water subway just down the lane, good food shops on a part of the waterfront you can actually walk down without so many tourists. The place is easy to find off the water subway, a short walk NOT over numerous bridges (with stairs). While our place was in some ways tiny, it was very clean and well maintained each and every day - with warm craoissants and juice left for us every morning. The bedroom size is ample with a sofa and wadrobe units. The windows are great an offer full flow through of air. The kitchen had everything we needed to make coffee in the morning & dinners in each evening. Nice to have a little dining room too. Everything was close - or it was a beautiful walk to get somewhere if not close. If you're a traveler who doesn't need a consierge or laundry service, wants to save money and still have a great experience hosted by a nice family, this IS the place. If you're a light sleeper - the neighborhood noise might keep you awake, but its the sounds of folks walking home, or someone compelled to sing in Italian - and as noise goes, its the best. I will stay there again - or maybe at their newest apartment currently under renovation.

We stayed in the "Nice" apartment at Ca'Alexander for our first wedding anniversary. The directions to find it were excellent amongst the rabbit warren of Venice, and the welcome from Sabrina made a bright start to our stay. The apartment was excellently situated to the East of Venice in the Castello district, near to the Giardini and a short walk from the Arsenale vaporetto stop. It was only 15 minutes walk to the famed San Marco, yet the area was much less touristy with some great local shops, bars and restarants that were great value and full of Venetians. The apartment itself was perfect, very clean and well equipped, obviously recently refurbished whilst retaining it's character. The bed was big and comfortable, and the breakfast brought every morning was delicious fresh baked goods, with fresh juice and yogurts, ideal to start the day exploring Venice at your own pace. It was a fantastic weekend, and Ca' Alexander certainly helped, we will be recommending it to all our friends and family. Make sure you try some of the local trattoria on Via Garibaldi, Dai Tosi just round the corner and the wine bar on Garibaldi which is open till 12.30 and very welcoming.

Sabrina's directions to the B&B were spot on, and we easily found it. They were waiting for us, and were very welcoming. We were accompanied to the other apartment which was charming, sparkling and in a quiet calle which was just charming. The next morning we found warm croissants, brioche, chilled yogurt and fresh milk and orange juice at our door. It was like this each morning. The neighborhood was family oriented and there were several nice restaurants that were reasonably priced where we ate each evening. We will definitely return to explore more of Venice and pick Ca' Alexander as our favorite destination. We were close to 2 Vaporetto stops and took full advantage of the location!

Ca Alexander was exactly as advertised. We actually stayed at the sister property Ca Ancore. It was a beautiful apartment. There was a bedroom, dining/living room, kitchenette and bathroom. The bedroom was very spacious. The kitchenette had everything needed to cook a great meal. We loved the fact that there was a beautiful park nearby and great restaurants. Our hosts were the best! They were friendly and most welcoming. They brought us breakfast every morning with fresh brioches and cakes. One difference I would like to pass along is that we were told to get off the boat at the Arsenale stop and walk down Via Giarbaldi. It is easier to get off at the Giardini stop walk through the park to Via Giarbaldi. Saves trying to cross two bridges with luggage, much easier. We plan to stay here again.

Our first time to Venice, we were given great directions on how to find Ca' Alexander. The accommodations were excellent...spacious private apartment with a lovely balcony overlooking a fabulous view of Venice. We had fresh out of the oven crossiants and bread delivered at our doorstep each morning. The apartment is only about a 10 minute walk from St. Marks Square. We loved being in a neighborhood watching school children go to school in the morning. Sabrina and family were excellent hosts and were helpful in making sure we took the right waterboat to make our air flight on our day of departure. I highly recommend Ca' Alexander for its charm, price, convenient location and overall pleasant experience. Things to remember...in Venice, there are no elevators unless you are staying at the finer hotels. Be prepared to carry your luggage some distance onto waterbuses, through the streets, over bridges that have steps, not ramps, and up flights of stairs in your B & B. Pack light and have luggage with wheels.

Difficult to find but what a find! Ca' Alexander not only met but exceeded our expectations. It's a very special place - close enough to all the main attractions but in quiet and very attractive location. The climb up the stairs might be a problem to older guests and the shower is a bit on the small side but the apartment and the views from the terrace more than make up for that. Very comfortable bed and an excellent breakfast. We will return!

This was the best place during my two-week vacation in Europe this summer. The room was really nicely decorated and air-conditioned. I also liked the terrace that I could see the people walked in the street. The owners were so kind, too.

Hi, I have chosen this place after reading an excellent feedbacks from the previous visitors. And I am glad that I have looked at general rate instead of trying to find the cheapest B@B. This place is actually more than Bed & Breakfast. We had our own private apartment on the top floor with dinning area, kitchen, living area and spacious bedroom with airconditioning - all just for 2 of us.(Tv + satellite, iron + ironing board, hairdryer, hangers included!) And also a lovely terrace with a wonderfull view. It was more than we expected. We have seen the pictures online, but didn't really realize that you get your own apartment, not just one bedroom. There was a small bathroom with just a shower blinds which were suitable for us(18 stones), but may not be suitable for a larger person. Just thought it may be worth mentioning. Breakfast were simple, just a fresh breadrolls every day with choice of jams spreads and butter. Also cake or sweet croissant were available. Juice and milk topped up in the fridge every day, coffee etc. Apartment were cleaned every day at 10 o'clock or you could tell them to come later, if you wanted a longer lying. Sabrina and her parents were very friendly and helpfull. We didn't have a trouble to find it, course we had all direction from Sabrina, when we have booked it. This apartment is about 10 mins away from the S.Marco square and it is a nice walk to get there. We would eat away from the centre, course is very expensive. Street with Ca'Alexander is full of nice restaurants where they doing a turist menu for 14 Euro or you can just grab a pizza (10 Euro) and enjoy it on a terrace. And one more thing! Don't go to a Chinesse bar-restaurant outside where they charge nearly 20 Euros for 1 small and 1 large beer!!! We were also charged about 20 Euros by Grand Canal-Rialto bridge for 2 beers, but I can understand it there, where is at least something to see!!So don't forget to take a lot of money with you. Venice is unique place, worth visiting!!!!

This place is a gem. Sabrina and her famaily were warm and welcoming, offering us a drink when we arrived and left. The apartment was spacious and immaculate. The bathroom was a good size especailly for an Italian bathroom. The apartment is quiet as it is off the main street and is close enought to all major attractions but far enough away to be a genuine neighbourhood. We loved our stay there. The only thing that could be improved upon is the breakfast. The croissant and hard bun provided was not enough. Otherwise, we would highly recommend this place.

This was the best place that we stayed at in Europe. Although we arrived late and couldn't get the Italian pay phones to accept our calling card to warn them, they were very welcoming. This apartment is beautiful and we will come again we come to Venice. It is located in a less touristy area which is a bonus and yet it is not a long walk to St. Mark's or anywhere else in Venice. The breakfast were delicious fresh breads and croissants-- the hot chocolate was awesome. The restaurant across the street was also great fun. I would highly recommend this place!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Sabrina and Nadia were very welcoming, the kitchenette was perfect for making morning coffee to accompany the warm bread delivered by Alesandro. The neighborhood was a real Venetian one, not in the tourist gathering area. It was very convenient to two vaporetti stops. The only warning from us would be that the shower is very tight--if a person is very large it might be q probelm. The ingenuity of making a complete bathroom for the space is amazing!

The photographs do not do justice to this magnificent, spacious apartment. The reason for the modest rating of "public rooms" is that there are no public rooms-it is a B&B and the foyer of the owner's home is set up as an office to pay at the end of the stay. This was an immaculate facility. The hostess Sabrina and her family were so friendly and accomodating. The location is good as it is away from the "main drag". If you are not fit, however,it may be a challenge to tackle the 50 stairs up to the apartment and the 15-minute walk to San Marco square. This was the highlight of our stay to Itlay and we would love to return.

We stayed at Ca' Alexander for 9 days to celebrate the year of our 10th wedding anniversery. We can't say enough about how wonderful our stay was - the rooms are beautiful (polished marble floors and beamed ceilings with chandeliers), the view from the terrace is magnificent at all times of the day and evening, breakfast was perfect, and Sabrina, Fabio, and her mother and father are warm welcoming people. We loved that it is in more of a local neighborhood with shops for bread, cheese, meat, and produce, as well as delightful eateries - out of the tourist rush but still about 10 minutes walk from St. Mark's. We wouldn't think of staying anywhere else when we return and we have been telling all our friends and family about what a terrific place this is.

The landlords were absolutely helpful, I arrived venice around 5 in the evening and called them up, they guided my where to go and how to. they provided an apartment in a living area, quiet, very local, 15 min walk to the St. Marcus sq. very clean room and family feeling warm.Every moring, fresh coffee is provided and also continental breakfast. They also recommended a local seafood restaurant, where you can find folk music singing in nights. it was a pleasant stay and will definitely come back.

Ca' Alexander was simply SUPERB! It's actually one of our favorite places we stayed in Italy. The privately owned apartment by this family was absolutely warm and friendly. The place was immaculate! We did not expect a private apartment that sits on the top floor with a fabulous view of Venice from the terrace. Every morning they delivered fresh baked bread to our apartment for breakfast. They were accommodating our entire stay. The apartment is situated on Via Garibaldi which was a beautiful area. Walking distance to everything. Restaurants, shops, market, post office, banks. It's also just 3 stops away from San Marco square by vaporetto (boat bus). At night, it's a lively place to be in! Ca' Alexander hosts were terrific. They even had a gondola business. We were given a private tour and the gondola ride was quite priceless to my mother, sister and I. We highly recommend this place to stay. We cannot thank Alessandro, Nadia, Sabrina and Fabio for our lovely stay. Grazie.

This was the first time we have stayed in a bed and breakfast type establishment. In fact accomodation is more like an apartment, rather than the typical bed and breakfast. The apartment was very nice and clean. It was nice to have a double bed for a change instead of two singles put together. We had the place without a balcony which was placed in another building a few hundred yards away from the one with a balcony. The accomdation was very quiet, near shops and restaurants and only a few mins from everything so very handy. Breakfast was ok but nothing special. The family were very nice and friendly. Venice is lovely, visit the Lido it is lovely over there.

The apartment was beautiful, spacious, and clean. The hosts were very welcoming, and we loved the location, away from the tourists, but convenient to get to St. Marks square. (A short easy walk) I would highly recommend staying here, the only downside would be if you can not do stairs, as the apartment was up about 70 stairs. (Which is why there was a wonderfuly rooftop terrace, with views out over Venice.) Beautiful accomodations!

Even though we arrived quite late (9:30pm), we were greeted very warmly. The owners were very helpful and friendly. We had a map of Venice and it was pretty easy to find except for one thing. We were told to look for the "palace" with the red flag on it", so we were looking for a palace on the Via Garabaldi. I believe that they mean "place". (Streets are not marked very well in most of Italy). The flag of Venice is hanging between two farmacias near the beginning of the Via Garabaldi. Ca' Alexander is in a little alley just past the flag, but they met us under the flag and showed us to another apartment down the street and in another alley. It was a very lovely apartment,up a flight of stairs, with amazing security doors and a well set breakfast table. It is a pleasant 15 minute walk down the Via Garabaldi then along the waterfront to Piazza San Marco and it is very near the beautiful public gardens. You walk just about everywhere in Venice anyway, except for when you take the gondola tour.

Sabrina and her family were wonderful and the apartment was excellent. The apartment was perfect for our honeymoon. It is located about 15 minutes walk from all the major sights from Venice in a quiet, lovely neighborhood. Her dad leaves fresh bread outside the door every morning if you like and he's also a great gondolier. We followed many of Sabrina's suggestions and we were not disappointed. We would definitely stay here again.

This is actually an apartment, rather than a simple B&B room with bath. The continental breakfast was provided at the door every morning. Otherwise it was total privacy. The place was well-cleaned every day. The bed was comfortable and bedroom was spacious, plus there were separate kitchen and living dining/areas. It was just off the main road and was completely quiet. I loved it and would certainly recommend it to everyone visiting Venice.

Appartment was clean, well equipped and well serviced. It's location was very convenient for local shops and a pleasant walk to central areas. We stayed in this property in September 04 and were pleasantly surprized to discover it was actually an apartment rather than a simple B&B as implied on the web site. Lovely location in a 'local' area with park nearby and excellent variety of shops selling wide range of fresh produce and the opportunity to talk and interact with resident people. Yet also easy walking distance from centre or Vaparetto stops giving wide choice of destinations. The apartment was much better than we expected and we were made to feel very welcome there. Breakfast was lovely! The roof terrace was beautiful, with views across Venice. It would have been good to know about the CD system and we could have taken a few with us to play of an evening? The accommodation is set just outside of the buzzing main square of Venice. There are very steep steps up to the apartment so not for those who find it difficult climbing! However once at the top the beautiful views of the grand canal and the local street market/shops below from the veranda are worth it. Are given enough breakfast on the first day to last for the whole of your stay so are left to use the facilities as you prefer making you feel at home. Definately reccommend it and I will be returning there.

Many thanks to Sandro and his Wife for the warm welcome and friendly atmosphere.

How to reach B&B Ca' Alexander

By car
The property is easily reachable from Piazzale Roma, where guests can leave their cars. From Piazzale Roma you can take the vaporetto (public water bus) line 61 or 51 and get off at the Giardini-Biennale stop. From there follow the indications to Piazza San Marco until you reach a wide, tree-lined avenue. Via Garibaldi is just a few metres ahead. You will see the building on your left with a big red flag with the lion of Saint Mark, the symbol of Venice. Below this big flag you will find an underpass, walk through it and ring the bell on the first door on your left where the Ca'Alexander B&B is located.

By airplane
The Venice Marco Polo airport is reachable in 30 minutes by private water taxi. Otherwise take the Alilaguna and get off at the Arsenale stop. Turn right (with St Mark's square on your left) and cross two bridges (Riva Cà di Dio and Riva San Biagio) until you reach via Garibaldi.
