The staff are very friendly helpful and non invasive. The food at the adjascent restaurant Barababao was fatastic value for money, good portion sizes particularly for expensive Venice and they offer a wheat free pasta, quite a rarity in Venice. Very central, this does comes with the outside noise at all hours associated with being in a very busy location. There was a safe in the spacious room which was included in the price and also a fridge, which was great for keeping water etc. Breakfast was croissants, rolls and preserves and lovely coffee. Very nice place, great value for money, great location. My husband and I were very impressed with the B&B and restaurant.

I would definitely recommend this B&B. The location is brilliant (10 minutes away from the Rialto adn just off a main busy street so in a rather quiet corner) and the staff very welcoming and nice. The room was not big but it did not matter at all because we were there only to sleep or rest. Their restaurant was very good and offered very creative Italian dishes at decent prices compared to the more tourity places where food is over-priced and under average in terms of quality and taste.

Web site promissed breakfast on the roof but instead it was on ground floor restaurant and was pretty skimpy. Other than that the room was in a good location and the manager and restaruant personnel friendly and helpful. Room was basic but clean and functional. Venice is expensive and so was this hotel. Aside from breakfast it was fine.

Room was excellent, location was great for everything you need in Venice. Staff were really helpful and friendly, and helped us out greatly on our last day. I would really recommend highly, and the value for money is amazing, considering the location. Would definitly stay there again.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay here. The room and bathroom spacious. It is located in a good part of Venice, near main ferry stop (Rialto Bridge). The directions on the website were hard to follow to find this accommadation. There is a restaurant below the B&B that is also owned by the same family- the food was delicious. Good wifi. Would stay here again.

I'm not sure whether I should recommend B&B Barababao to others or not... because I want to have a chance to book a room from there also sometime in the future. :) The location is absolutely great for a visitor who wants to look and walk around Venice for a few days. A nice little B&B just a few hops from Rialto bridge, at a nice quite corner, in the middle of everything. We enjoyed our visit at B&B Barababao 100+%, and would go back there any time. (The breakfast could perhaps have been a bit bigger, but that's minor details.) Sunny greetings to the great B&B Barababao staff from Finland!

Our stay at the Barababao was really fabulous from the friendly and helpful reception we received to ongoing advice from the owner about travel and sites to see. For the price the location could not be better, the room was cleaned well each day and the only problem was the room was a little too hot and AC was not so efficient but that was a small price to pay. Go there

We arrived in the afternoon and could not get in to our room before 19. The walls are really thin. We got home in the night and talked quietly our neighbours banged on the wall and complained in the morning about us. But the rooms are good for the price.

Excellent location and scenic walk from the train station. They met us as we were looking for the business address, which was a relief since the town is a maze of winding alleys. The room was small but clean and attractive with a window looking out into a quiet vine covered courtyard. With the shutters closed it was so dark and quiet that we slept late and missed breakfast the first day! The only 2 problems we had were poor internet connection in our room and competition with the kitchen for hot water the first night. Other than that it was great, especially the location!

We had a double room with extra bed. It costs 120 Euro (October 2010). The room was OK. Breakfast was included in the price (juice, round roll, butter, jam, croissant, coffee and yoghurt), served downstairs in the restaurant. The good thing is that the staff stored our luggage free of charge after until the evening after checked out, so we could do more sightseeing before leaving without carrying the bags. (Just ask them). There is no reception; all stuff dealt in the restaurant.

The room we had was excellent. It was spacious and modern. We had a couple of problems with the TV and safe and the staff quickly came up and sorted them out. The only thing that was not up to our expectation was our initial welcome. We had arrived early and dropped our cases off at Barababao's. When we came back to get into our room the staff were rather busy in the restaurant and didn't seem to take much interest in helping us. However, this was better interaction than most of our encounters with the people of Venice. From the shop keepers to the vaperetto crew; from the info centre staff to the waiters, we found the people of Venice the most surly, miserable, unhelpful we have encountered in many years of travel. Everything seemed too much trouble. The only smiling faces we encountered were a baker and his wife in one of the streets far from the tourist haunts. This was not just our opinion, most tourists we spoke to had the same experience. Our only other comment was that the decor in the Barababao restaurant ws not to our taste and therefore we didn't eat there apart from our breakfast which was included. However, Venice is a beautiful city and Barababao is one of the better places to stay.

Clean, decent size room and bathroom, with newish tile, etc. Great location and value for the money, close to Rialto Bridge, but no street/canal noise. Very convenient to go back to in the middle of the day for a break. No public area, as you check in at the attached restaraunt. Just a stairwell and hallway(note no elevator). Would stay there again.

My room was exactly as portrayed in one of the photos on the web site. So full marks for that as sometimes hotel rooms are nothing like what is portrayed. Unfortunately during my 3 night stay the attached restaurant was closed except for breakfasts and the person there spoke basic English only. There were plenty of other good restaurants in the vicinity so no real problem. Overall a good size room and bathroom in an excellent location. Some noise from the nearby restaurants but all finished by about 10.30pm and not that audible with the windows closed and the air conditioning on. I would happily stay there again.

The position of the hotel is very good. It is very near the Rialto Bridge. The breakfast was very good. The hotel has a restaurante I think of a high quality. The owner was very kind and all the staff. There are a lot of moscitos in the night but every room has a device with oil against moskitos. In the night it is noisy but maximum till 23.00. So, it wasn t too hard like some wrote before. All in all I can recommend the hotel Barabao.

The Barababao B&B is on top of the Barababao Restaurant. It is located in the heart of Venice about a 10 min. walking distance to the San Marcos Piazza. The location is great, but the b&b was a disappointment compared to other B&B's that we had experience elsewhere in Italy. Also, because the restaurant waiters are your hosts they do not take the time to give you a proper welcome, and/or provide you with maps of the city like all the other B&Bs did. Rather they hand you the keys and ask you to check-in later when they are not too busy. The rooms have NO air conditioning and because there is a restaurant below it is extremely noisy all night long, and the mosquitos are out of control. My 2 year old daughter woke up with bites all over her face. We happened to go to Venize in April so it was not too hot, but it would have been definetely horrendous during the summer. There is also no hair dryer, but rather a vacumm-style dryer (that does not dry) so bring your own.

We were very pleased by the location, the staff, and the quality of the rooms. Although some may find the evening sound from the "street" and restaurants below and outside the rooms a little disturbing, to us it just added to the atmosphere. Eventually, all quieted down and we enjoyed a contented sleep as Barababao is located in a relatively quiet section of Venice even though it is relatively near the Grande Canal. All staff members, who worked in the restaurant and came in to clean the rooms daily, were most amiable and helpful. We would stay again in an instance. In fact, Barababao would be one of the reasons for us to return to Venice.

The directions to the hotel need to be re-written by someone who understands english. For example we were told to "turn right ON the bridge" instead of 'AT' the bridge. We thought that we had to go over the bridge and lugged our luggage up and down the steps only to have to do it again when we realised our mistake. We had a very pleasant stay at the hotel which is perfectly situated for adventuring through laneways and along the canal. Simone was an excellent host. The only down side was the noise from an adjoining restaurant kept us awake one night.

The double room was very small although the bathroom was an adequate size. There were no extra offerings in the room and one would not stay at this hotel if relaxing in the room was a requirement. Immaculate, friendly, comfortable, quiet, convenient, reasonably priced- this place has it all! We stayed here about 5 months ago and I fell in love with the place. Our room was clean, the bathroom was spacious (shower only), it was on the rear side of the building overlooking a courtyard, so away from the busy street that the B & B is off. The staff is friendly, speak some English, but the main person who took care of us for check-in, check-out and breakfast both days speaks English well. It is located close to the Rialto Bridge vaporetto stop, right off a street heavy with pedestrian traffic- but as soon as you turn off that street into the courtyard out front, it is amazingly quiet. Breakfast was also good, with fresh cornetti pastry and coffee, and yogurt on request (there may have been more served, I don't recall anymore, I just know it was mostly carbs, but it was enough, and nice). Our room did overlook a rear courtyard which contains 2 restaurants, neither of which we ate at during our stay, but one of which is recommended in the Ric Steves guide. During the serving hours, with the windows (which were beautiful wood ones that opened in more ways than I can count) and shutters open, you can hear the diners and servers, but it's not a rowdy crowd. By about 10 pm, all is quiet. The B & B has a bar and restaurant attached to it. We ate there the first night and it was quite good. My boyfriend had the sea bass, I got to try a bite and it was one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten (I think I had pasta with bruscandoli, which are hop shoots that are a delicacy available sometimes in the Spring in Venezia) and it was good, but it paled in comparison to the sea bass. (We ate elsewhere on our second night and I ordered sea bass there, but it wasn't nearly as good as what my Sweetie had the evening before at Barababao.) I highly recommend the place and I would choose it again. I couldn't have been happier. OK, maybe if I had had a few more days, I

This was our first attempt at booking a B&B in Europe. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the B&B Barababao. It was much more spacious and modern than we had expected, as well as excewptionally clean. The staff was very courteous and very helpful. The restaurant on the ground floor and B&B above are family owned and very well run. Breakfast was in the restaurant and the best we had throughout our stay in Italy. Also, the location is excellent. You can walk to Piazza San Marco in less than ten minutes.

We liked staying here a lot, and have just returned. Is typical for Europe for location and price, but not what most Americans "expect" here. Tucked away on small Venice street, with shops and hotels and restaurants all around. Serviceable, clean, friendly with everything you need. Only 4-5 rooms on second floor over commercial area. Hallways and stairs going in off street a little dark and scary for some, but again, typical. We would stay there again for convenience and helpfullness. Great restaurants around there, great breakfasts.

Barababao is in a great location. It is 10 minutes from Piazza San Marco, 2 minutes from Rialto Bridge, shopping and restaurants all around (what place isn't, though). The corner room is large and clean, with 2 windows. They need to be kept shut at night because people occasionally walk by all hours of the night, speaking quite loudly. The bar/restaurant below was reasonable and good. It was a much better deal than any other place we ate in Venice.

Mappy showed hotel north of church, but it was south of church. Coming from Rialto vaporetta stop, take a right at chapel and you will see Barababao to the right on the next corner. We were very happy with room and attached bathroom (shower, sink, toilet, and hose-type hairdryer). The room contained a safe and several places to store and hang clothes. The breakfast was served between 8:30am and 10am in their restaurant and included your choice of coffee drinks, orange juice, yogurt, assortment of breads, jams, nutella, and honey. Full lunch and dinner service is offered daily in the restaurant that contains a bar. There were so amny other choices in the area we just ate breakfast there. About a 5-10 minute walk to St. Mark's Plaza and 1-2 minute walk to Rialto bridge. They let us keep our bags in a locked room after check-out until we picked them up later in the day. Compared to other prices in Venice, this was a great deal and a nice location.

Location is very good, very close to Rialto Bridge,half-way between train station and "Piazza S.Marco". Rooms are nice and confortable, but the bathroom is very narrow, essenial, but however clean and private. Breakfast is quite abundant (Italian style), you can find in the restaurant a table already prepared for you with bread, jam, juice and biscuits and you can ask for a coffe or cappuccino

Thanks to Venere.com our 9-day stay in Italy was, except one accomodation (B&B Butterfly),very big surprise(we travel a lot). Not only the way we've booked all our stays, also the confirmations, low prices and the reality was the same as showed on the web pics. B&B Barabao is part of a restaurant, we unfortunately didn't have time to try, the menu sounded very yummy, but staff is competent and friendly, breakfast was delicious and it'll be pleasure to return there again. It's near Ponte di Rialto, easy acces everywhere and still quiet.

Location is very good, near the Rialto Bridge but then tucked away in a corner so it is quiet enough to have a good sleep. Of course there is no view of the river but you can't expect that much with this price. B&B was very accommodating with our early check-in. Room was spacious and VERY clean, with a/c and tv. No lifts so you may ask for help with heavy luggages. Breakfast was good enough with very good coffee. It may be a bit difficult to find because I find the directions given a bit confusing, we ended up using GPS to find the B&B. However, Venice in general is easy to get lost with the its maze of small streets. The directions given by the website may need to be revised.

Wonderful memory staying at this hotel with my wife. The room is very clean, spacious than any other hotels we stayed in Europe (Rome's hotels are terrible). Far from train station but very convenient to the main attractions. The accordion player under your window is a little bit annoying but closed the window you can hear nothing. Great city to travel, excellent hotel to stay. Strongly recommend.

This is a lovely Bed and Breakfast. I stayed here with my boyfriend and my father was in a second room. The staff is so kind and accommodating and the food and drink in teh bar downstairs are second to none. The breakfast was also better than you would get in most bed and breakfasts, especially in Venice. For the hot time of year, their air conditioning saved our lives! It was like walking into an ice box when it was 100 degrees farenheit and humid outside! Overall, fabulous place to stay and would reccommend it to anyone planning on staying in Venice!

Wow! I had an awesome time in Venice. The B&B is centrally located so easy to find and to get around. Many great restaurants and shopping in the neighborhood. The room was large, quiet (except the charming "live" music playing in the restaurant at dinnertime, which I opened my very italian windows to let in). Simone went above and beyond the call of duty. Go! Get "lost" in Venice! Can't wait to go back :)

Very clean B&B. Location is adequate as the Rialto Bridge is just a few blocks away. Will definitely come back to this B&B if returning to Venice.

Location is very central to the shopping area-Coin,very close to Rialto bridge and walking distance to St.Mark's Square. Very nice and clean place to stay. The breakfast is very simple with just bread/croissant and butter/jelly and coffee or juice. At 150 euros/night,quite expensive but that's Venice where everything seems to be expensive anyway. The owners-father and sons were very accommodating.

Great B&B to stay in. The location is excellent - 3 minutes from Rialto Bridge and 7 minutes from St. Mark's Square. The rooms are cosy, very clean and cute. The private Bathroom is very clean too. The breakfast includes Milk, Coffee, Yogurt, Bread, several jams and brioches. The price is a bit high but for Venice it's more than adequate. Quality VS Price is excellent. Loved it.

The staff were brilliant, due to plane problems we didn't arrive until after 2am and they helped us get the night vaporetto, welcomed us and were altogether wonderfully helpful and friendly. Breakfast was a bit of a disappointment.. all that wonderful fruit and other venitian food and we got a single criossant and a coffee - you could do better than that for 130EU per night!

We arrived in Venice one day late due to a general train strike. Walter worked with Venere to change the reservation and charge only one night. He was very nice, friendly and knowledgable. The location is fantastic and the restaurant downstairs is quite good. The rooms are very simple and spare, but a good deal given the location.

Just a little off the well beaten tracks of Venice, but quite central and near to the Rialto Bridge and a short walk to St. Mark's Sq. Only five minute walk with bags from the Rialto stop for the A/P waterbus and I'm elderly. The breakfasts were more than adequate and the staff very helpful, and the off-high-traffic area makes it quiet. The rooms are just a little Sparten, and no languages other than Italian on the TV, but always kept spotless. The restaurant downstairs serves a very good variety and quality of local/tourist food and also attracts a Venezian clientelle. I will return here and this was my third visit to Venice but first at Barababao. The staff all went out of their way to be helpful, one even brought his own laptop in for me to use!

This was a great place to stay, located very close to the Rialto Bridge, it was a good base location for our Venice area excursions. The staff were the best we had in Italy, always willing to help, and great to talk to. The rooms were very clean, and looked like they had been recently remodeled. This is where I will stay on my next visit to Venice.

The B&B is placed in a very good area, just close to the Rialto, and still, it is quiet since it is in a small street. Maybe not very easy to find but it is due to the fact that Venezia is full of very small streets and is a kind of maze so everything is a bit difficult to find. However, I was very satisfied by this room. It is a bit expensive for one night but less expensive than in other hotels or places. A common price for Venezia. The breakfast is good. A very good choice. You take the keys in a restaurant where you are welcomed in a very friendly and efficacious way. There is no problem if you want to leave your bags there if you arrive before check in time or if you want to leave it there after check out time. That enabled us not to pay for luggage service at the train station and to spend some time wandering without having to take our bags with us.

We stayed only one night in Venice, in that charming bed and breakfast, located right next to the Rialto Bridge. The prices the hotel is practicing are REALLY reasonnable compared to prices in overall in Venice. Great place to stay!

This was a great place to stay. It was a bit harder to find, but that is the case with everything in Venice. Very courteous staff and we were upgraded to have our own private bathroom. It's located in a great area of town not from from San Marco and with many restaurants and shops nearby.

We stayed in Venice for three days. The B&B was formidable, a real pleasure to meet them all and a perfect, clean and comfortable room. Barabao is in the center of everywhere! I will recommended it to everybody that goes to Venice! Thanks for the service provided!
